I had enrolled my sons at another local music school for guitar and drums. I fell for the buy three get one free, etc. After a while I felt like they were not progressing, and there seemed to be a real lack of professionalism in not only the teachers, but also the management. So I started looking elsewhere. After a lot of research I called Grosse Pointe Music Academy. The staff was very professional and was able to answer all of my questions. All of the instructors either have a degree in music or are working toward their music degree - unlike other "schools" where apparently being in a band qualifies you to teach music! The location looks and feels like a music school, with sheet music books and an understandable billing system - a far cry from whatever was going on at the other place (Axis!) where you never saw any sheet music and you felt like the manager found the instructors by cruising local bars - "hey dude, you can play guitar, do you wanna teach?" I am excited for their June recital! I would highly encourage anyone to give them a try. read more

We fell in love with the Hummingbirds Music Together program here! My daughter loved it from the first session and for many more to follow! The teachers are engaging with both the kids and parents and teach us about the fundamentals of music while having a ton of fun! The location is also perfect for kids and during class the kids are free to move and play with each other and the parents. Music Together is a great program, but Hummingbirds Together makes it even better with great teachers! As my daughter ages I will look to the Canton Music Academy for additional music classes as well since the teachers are of such a great caliber. read more

I primarily selected this particular music school for its location. I am an adult guitar student and needed something close to home. I would surely recommend this music school to children or adults. The staff is friendly, professional, and supportive. As an adult, I understand the benefit of practicing at home so that I can utilize class time for answering questions and perfecting technique. If you are a parent enrolling your child, remember that your child will only grow if you monitor practice time at home. Instructors can not make your child a great musician if you don't require practice at home. read more

Kaitlyn (manager) and teachers are great. Very accommodating. Kaitlyn always found ways to find a make up time if we had to miss a week. Teachers made music lessons enjoyable. Great music company due to the great people! read more
