He may think he's just doing his job as a lifeguard, but he was a lifesaver to me & one last worry I felt so free. I plan on spending much more time in the pool I can't wait to check out the other facilities. The building is huge way bigger than it looks from the outside. What I found immensely impressive was the equipment room. It just kept going on and on so many machines.(2 Floors) The CENTER is immensely, clean and organized, I can't wait to jump in with both feet and taking an art class, or perhaps join in a community event . My mother used to belong here and my cousin used to work here years ago and I hope I can get as much fulfillment as they did .

Though, in the recent year, life got a little complicated, and thus it's been a while. Not wanting to fight the continuous Boston traffic, I decided to give Boston Bowl - Hanover a try. It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon - it was tax free weekend, so everyone was likely out shopping. I'd brought my own shoes and ball, though there seemed to be plenty of different house balls available (though during busy times, your mileage may vary). The lanes were well oiled, the automatic scoring did not give me any trouble, and there were no malfunctions that needed an attendant. The facility was modern, with large screens (Spongebob was on), and music loud enough to be heard, but not approaching a metal concert (again, Saturday afternoon vs Friday night is likely a different experience). There's just one little thing: a bit of sticker shock. When I was a kid bowling with dad, it cost under $4 a string, maybe $4.25 during a popular time. Here, it was $8.50 per string [Fri. 5pm - Sun. Close]. I fully understand that it has been 20 years, yet, $25 for one person bowling for 15 minutes still seems a bit steep. Consider: if I had brought three friends we'd be be looking at over $100.

Lots of people walking and running in the area...even into the late evening hours. Lots of shops and eating options right off of Seaport Blvd. Metered Street Parking was actually manageable, especially in the later post 6-pm midweek hours in the Fort Hill Square Area. Meters are in effect through 8pm with a 2-hour maximum, so if you arrive after 6pm and feed the meter until 8pm, you are all set for the night! The South Station (Red) T Station is also nearby. Both options are a short walk to Fan Pier Park. There are also lots of garages available in the immediate area as well.

It's creator, Matthew P. is a fantastic guy who works very hard to bring affordable, structured clinics, pickup game and even league matches to the masses through a combination of the website and at-the-rink check-ins and I've been able to do all three of those every week and it's been fantastic. And while I've only been doing in Somerville, he also does run the same kind of operation of various days of the week in other towns like Dedham, Hingham, Bedford and Rockland. The quality of the coaches for the clinics is top notch and one of them even played professional hockey out in Germany. They're all very experienced and professional, and I cannot believe how much progress I've made working with them. And even though you're in a group, they will give you individual attention when needed to help fix a few things about your stride, puck handling or game to try and squeeze every bit of talent out of you to make you a better player. As far as the pickup games and league matches go, every single time I've attended such games, it's been great. The teams are almost always very balanced, and there's always been two goalies which is a huge plus (and a rarity in a lot of cases). I cannot recommend MA Hockey League enough and you can find out more about them on their website which includes scheduling information, payment options and much more. I look forward to playing every week and Matt has made this a breeze. Plus I got to meet a ton of great people in the way, from the coaches to the players.

I do not have to think but I also don't have to worry that I am hurting myself. The best thing is I get out of the house and say hi to nice people. Wade and Abby complement each other making all of us feel confident and strong.
