When my age was in the single digits, I discovered a love for bowling. I am now nearing 30, and my…read moreenjoyment of bowling continues - plus I've since discovered 10-pin. Though, in the recent year, life got a little complicated, and thus it's been a while. Not wanting to fight the continuous Boston traffic, I decided to give Boston Bowl - Hanover a try. It was quiet on a Saturday afternoon - it was tax free weekend, so everyone was likely out shopping. I'd brought my own shoes and ball, though there seemed to be plenty of different house balls available (though during busy times, your mileage may vary). The lanes were well oiled, the automatic scoring did not give me any trouble, and there were no malfunctions that needed an attendant. The facility was modern, with large screens (Spongebob was on), and music loud enough to be heard, but not approaching a metal concert (again, Saturday afternoon vs Friday night is likely a different experience). There's just one little thing: a bit of sticker shock. When I was a kid bowling with dad, it cost under $4 a string, maybe $4.25 during a popular time. Here, it was $8.50 per string [Fri. 5pm - Sun. Close]. I fully understand that it has been 20 years, yet, $25 for one person bowling for 15 minutes still seems a bit steep. Consider: if I had brought three friends we'd be be looking at over $100.

My first time in a pool in many many moons, but I explained to him my situation and he was on point ready to assist every single second. He may think he's just doing his job as a lifeguard, but he was a lifesaver to me & one last worry I felt so free. I plan on spending much more time in the pool I can't wait to check out the other facilities. The building is huge way bigger than it looks from the outside. What I found immensely impressive was the equipment room. It just kept going on and on so many machines.(2 Floors) The CENTER is immensely, clean and organized, I can't wait to jump in with both feet and taking an art class, or perhaps join in a community event . My mother used to belong here and my cousin used to work here years ago and I hope I can get as much fulfillment as they did .

This review is based on the birthday party package which I booked to celebrate my kiddo's birthday…read more I must say that everything regarding information for booking was pretty straightforward (24 children guests for two hours ) and you can pay for an additional hour or additional children. I was allotted 15 minutes prior to my party to set up although I don't feel like 15 minutes is enough. The staff there did help with setting up the staff they were all pretty friendly and helpful children who were 6 and under needed to be accompanied with a parent in the pool. my kiddo and friends all had a blast.

We enrolled our preteen at British Swim School after an extensive search for swim lessons geared…read moretoward older beginners. Our son had no prior swimming experience, was very fearful of the water, and was uncomfortable even getting his face wet. Unfortunately, most programs in our area were designed for toddlers and young children, leaving very few options for older kids who were starting from the beginning. From my first conversation with Logi, I was impressed by the professionalism, patience, and confidence in their ability to help our son not only become comfortable in the water but to truly learn to swim. The entire staff at the Milford location has been outstanding. The instructors are patient, supportive, and highly skilled at working with children who are anxious or fearful. In a surprisingly short amount of time, our son went from being fearful of the water to confidently mastering safety skills and progressing into both front and back strokes. Most importantly, he is now safe and confident in the water. The flexibility of class days and times has also been extremely helpful for our family's busy schedule. We are incredibly grateful to the entire team at British Swim School in Milford for their dedication and exceptional instruction. Their commitment to ensuring each child becomes a strong and safe swimmer is truly remarkable. I highly recommend this program to any family seeking high-quality swim instruction.

My favorite place to skate around the Boston area. The Jack Kirrane ice rink is in a lovely setting…read moreas it's not only outdoors, but at the top of a hill surrounded by trees and then the rest of the Larz Anderson Park. It's a great visual experience on top of having nice ice. A plus is that aside the rink is a flat patch of rectangular ice for beginners to practice on. One thing I don't like about skating at the Reilly Rink in Cleveland Circle is that beginners flop all over the ice. You can sit at the side of Reilly and time it on your watch and not go more than five seconds without seeing someone fall on the ice and possibly cause a pile-up. Kirrane has a nice solution for it. Reilly is free and Kirrane does charge $8 for Brookline residents (as of early 2026, fees may change with inflation!!!) and $10 for non-residents. They also rent nice quality skates, both figure and hockey style, if you don't have your own. The absolute best is to come in December to early January for the afternoon public skate and watch the sun set and the sky change colors off to the west before they shut down at 4:30pm. If you're lucky there will also be some snow in the surrounding trees adding to the experience. The only negative experience I has was that the staff didn't confront some pain in the butt kids. Some kids around ages 10-12 went on the beginner ice and were skating really fast and then diving and sliding on the ice as far as they could and knocking into beginner skaters, including young children. Neither their parents nor the staff said a word to them. I was close to going hockey player and roughing some of them up to teach them a lesson. They really should crack down on this before someone really gets hurt.

I've been with Eric for almost two years now, and still go weekly!…read more For me, it all comes down to this: Every time I workout with Eric, I feel better and my body moves better. His style is somewhere between physical therapy and master personal training. He evaluates what's working well for your body, and what's not, and then builds a program. For example, he took a video of me doing a simple squat. Don'cha know my left knee was splaying WAAAYY out to the left, like a dog chasing a squirrel? I never noticed because I'm too busy trying not to fall the F over! So, we did some exercises for my hips and butt, and voila, the knee is at least sorta staying in line. And, he gave me homework, to keep improving. :) If you're a "desk jockey" and/or spend a lot of time sitting, like me, you should definitely check out Eric. If you want to build muscle, improve flexibility, or just get a great workout, he's your man. And, yeah, I still have a little crush on him ;) Oh, and be sure to look carefully below for the "Filtered" reviews, above "About this Business." He's got a ton more that are hidden for gawd knows what reason...

I'm by no means a fitness guru. I've found that when I go at it alone at a gym I basically repeat…read morethe same basic routine and don't really benefit from it. Personal training is definitely an investment but for me it's the only way I feel I really benefit from working out. I was until recently a member of BSC on Newbury, simply because of location. I hadn't been there since July, went to cancel my membership and of course they need 30 days notice, so they were "nice" enough to prorate the remainder of my month and only charge me $51 instead of $59 and continue to tell me my membership is good through November something, even though I reiterated I haven't used their gym since July and won't be back so stop explaining this to me. I guess they need the 30 days notice so they can anticipate cleaning the machines just a little less since I am cancelling my valuable membership. Anyways, back to the good. Eric is great. I did the complimentary movement assessment and mini-workout with him. My previous personal trainer was female so I was somewhat anxious that I would be intimidated working out with a guy but Eric was awesome. Made me comfortable from the start. He has a decent sized studio right near Copley Square. I was able to listen to my own choice of music and work out in complete privacy, knowing that I could screw up, ask questions, etc as we went along and not have to worry about the meatheads judging me. It was great. We talked about my fitness goals, nutrition, etc. It was so great that I booked a 30 session package with him. I was able to reason with myself to make this investment because previously I paid my trainer the same amount that I would have paid if I did hour sessions with her instead of half hour sessions, plus I don't have to pay a monthly gym membership and get complete privacy. I'm really looking forward to working out three times a week with Eric and building some muscle while toning my core. Highly recommend checking it out!
