Romantic night away?? Look no further this family run hotel…read moreis to die for...a proper pile in the counrty, sweeping drive up to the hotel and your find a real treat. The hotel is quite old and the grounds are pretty with lavender all around,a huge lawn and lots of roses. The rooms are big, clean and comfie...you even get mini sweets! The resturant is called miltons and is a old barn type building,i can say hand on heart that everything here is wonderfull...the cheese board is lovely too,i know as ive eaten here so offen. It really is a great place the staff are brillant and bend over backwards to help you in anyway possible. Wait till you have the breakfast...massive and so fresh. Please take someone NOW!

This is really a weakish three. The hotel is nice, but the rooms could use some general…read moremaintenance. My room was very spacious, with a very nice bath/shower (more later). The bed was OK - not the most comfortable I've ever had, but not terrible either. Pillows were very firm, which I like. The room also had a "back door" which opened up on to a little garden, which was kind of nice. TV had tons of channels, but I just left it on Sky News. But the room itself is just a little...shabby? There was some water damage/mildew in the bathroom, and the curtain over the "back door" window, when let down for privacy, revealed a nice mold colony. I shared my room with a small family of spiders. They don't seem to have bothered me, I hope I didn't bother them. I'm wondering, though, if I swallowed one of the spiders that they say people swallow while sleeping over the course of their lives. The desk was pretty useless - such a small opening that the empty chair didn't even fit under it, let alone with you sitting on it. However, I am forgiving some of this for the shower. Perhaps I'm jaded after the Radisson Blu shower in Dublin, but this shower was fantastic. After flying overnight, going straight to the office, working until quite late, and then collapsing in to bed without a chance to freshen up, the shower I took the next morning was luxuriant. Good shower pressure without being painful, good water coverage, nice volume...I considered stealing the shower head. Lovely. The heated towel rack wasn't working, however, as it was actually a steam radiator, I'm assuming they're not running their boiler in June. So, I might try something else, but...I'd also come back. The price seems a bit high, but I'm not familiar with what the scale should be. A small benefit here is that it's only about half a mile from my client, easily walkable rather than calling a cab. So that's a plus. But I hear tell of an (also kind of unremarkable) Hilton in the area as well.

Too funny but I figured it out. Another strange thing is the breakfast buffet. It's amazing and many choices for a true English breakfast. So fulfilling. BUT every day is the exact same breakfast. Never changes. I was there a week and the food never changed. It's a nice hotel and I would recommend it

The 200 room hotel is has an AA 2 rosette restaurant, a night club called Après. Downstairs there is the usual hotel bar, an Austrian 'Bier Keller' and a Health Club downstairs with an air-conditioned gym, sauna, steam room, sun beds, spa bath and two swimming pools. There are some nice design touches, like a triangle of three large fish tanks on each of the bedroom floors near the lifts which form a Toblerone-shaped light-pipe going into the reception area. The rooms have a lot of pale wood, adding to the Chalet-style décor. The breakfast buffet is extensive, and the toast arrived quickly and wasn't burnt. I didn't try the main restaurant for an evening meal, but a colleague described as fancy and overpriced, and that is how the menu looked to me. The car park circles the hotel, so there is plenty of it, but it still gets busy; there are very visible security staff walking around the car park. Overall I enjoyed the stay, but I don't think it is as good as it could be, not sure why!

I chose this hotel not only for the reasonable price (although work was paying) but because it has a gym. The rate was approx £580, but I had to use a third party to book it - work rules. By the time they put the order in (20 mins later) the price had gone up to almost £800 not including breakfast. Perhaps a lesson in not booking too late, but beware late bookers. For my first meal I ate Indian. Monty's bar serves standard beers and slightly better wines. You can chode Indian, Thai and some other dishes from the bar. The service is attentive and the Indian food middle of the road. One of my pet hates is paper napkins as they do not feel in keeping with the style to which the bar desperately aspires to. (And they are scratchy!) The hotel has an averagely decent gym and I was happy to see a swimming pool too. I wish there were slightly more types of multigym equipment. On the second day the gym was very busy in the evening. I found it quiet in the morning and also on Sunday night. The swimming pool has plenty of room, as it is not used as much. It is about 20 meters or so. For my second meal I went Thai - again in Monty's. The staff were again exceptionally friendly and professional. Food was an ok 3/5. On the third night I tried Caprice's, which is the hotel restaurant. More service, no paper napkins, a la carte, set and posher Indian menus available. The wine menu was also much more interesting. Overall, this is a Holiday Inn. Probably the best Holiday Inn I've ever gone to, but still a Holiday Inn. 99% of customers are on business. It's a large hotel and quite busy. The food is alright, service is very attentive and the facilities are good. Whether you decide to stay here should depend on the price you can get and the proximity to where you have to go! By the way... Wi-Fi is not free. I hate that!

Definitely welcoming. Strangely you have to use your room key to activate the lift, I guess for security. The bed was very comfortable. There was a big flatscreen tv. Lots of space. I was happy. I paid £59 for one night, and it was good value for money.
