Being the first time he has specified anything on the dinner front (and he's currently injured), I was willing to commit to the purchase of fish of chips... I had no idea how many fish and chips shops aren't open on a Monday!!! By the time I got to Chicken Knight (fish and chip shop #7) I was just thrilled they were opened and accept EFT, so my review rating may be slightly affected by the joy of that point alone. The service wasn't particularly friendly, quite terse actually but not rude and it was certainly efficient. I was served quickly and received my order quickly. They have a dining area inside as well as an ATM which is convenient. The chips from here are nice (it's been a while since I've had chips and I am still recovering from how much they charge for what is essentially potato pieces dipped in oil now! But that's apparently standard), they were crunchy and golden on the outside with fluffy white, potato cloud centres. The fish was "meh", it wasn't oily but the serve was small and can't say much for it really. I didn't dislike it. At the end of the day, it wasn't a fine dining experience - it was a casual fish and chip, take out, chuck the chips on bread and butter and your set, eating experience and it hit the spot as a once off cheeky, cheat meal.

We found out that the previous owners told the new buyers how to continue the legacy and they taught well. The battered King George was crispy and cooked to perfection. The crumbed was also really tasty, they had a wide range of salads and drinks and the salads were very tasty. The nuggets were also delightful and tasted really crispy and meaty and just delicious. The inside is well kept and pretty tidy and it looks like your average fish and chipper but trust me the food is much more than average. I will definitely be returning, 5 Stars!

Please note that you are paying extra for quality bites here and like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears size does matter... No wait, portion control is important... Well just order more than you think of everything except sides. $8.50 per piece of King George Whiting fried + 50c to have it done grilled in lemon pepper dressing isn't quite the cheap Sunday night takeaway we were expecting. However, the fish was incredibly well cooked (still tender) and seasoned with a tangy oregano and lemon pepper dressing. I also enjoyed the juiciest lemon pepper calamari rings but order double what you think you can handle as when they're not battered they are only half size. Chips were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and a small serving is plenty for 2. The service is incredibly quick and friendly, they even know the locals by the first name. The shop doesn't have that caked in 30 years of grease feel and is clean with a well laid out menu. This would have to be one of Adelaide's best and hidden F&C shops. Walk an extra block away from the beach and hop, skip and jump your way back to enjoy fish you'll think was freshly caught from the sea that day.

Golden Chicken and Seafood on Portrush Rd is... Golden…read more I regularly buy BBQ chicken here for dinner when I'm too lazy to cook, and unlike some places I've been, the chicken here is tender, juicy, and most importantly, fresh. A lot of the other menu items here are also delicious. I absolutely love their fish and chips, and yiros! It's no Estia at Henley Square, but it's pretty close. The fish is nicely battered, the chips are thick yet crunchy with just the right amount of chicken salt, no more, no less. The yiros also has nice fresh fillings and the meat is cooked nicely. Their trading hours are also good, 11am till 8pm which allows enough time to grab food if you're feeling like a later dinner. They also recently updated their menu, which now includes chicken wings marinated in BBQ sauce, various meal deals, and they cater for Christmas orders. A downfall of this place is its steep prices, the last time I came here I bought a BBQ chicken for around $14. Overall though, it is convenient, tasty food!

The gravy is a bit too runny and the chips definitely aren't salty enough. However, the serving sizes are massive. The first time I went in there I was put off by the fact that one serve cost $5.80. When I received my meal it was gigantic. I literally went into a food coma after demolishing it all. A few of my friends have had their beef schnitzels and they said that they are amazing. On a not so bright note, the service definitely isn't fast. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes for your food. Apart from the chips and gravy, they have a massive selection. Everything you would expect from a fish and chip shop and more. They also advertise that they use cholesterol free oil to cook, but I don't know how important this is when you have shoveled down half a kilogram of chips. The shop is also open for great hours. Hungover on boxing day it was one of the only shops open in my area.
