I used to live on a farm and Jamie would live at the farm while we were away. Now that we've downsized, my dogs usually stay at Training Aces but Jamie still feeds the birds and waters my plants. My dogs LOVE going to Training Aces! They run right over to the gate, tails wagging. Last year, I had to be away for a month. I was very upset thinking about leaving my guys for that long. I shouldn't have worried! Being with Jamie is like being at home for my pups. They laze on the sofa, sleep in Jamie's bed, and have the run of the spacious fenced-in yard. They have other dogs to play with and they all get along. Jamie even sent regular updates and photos. Trust Jamie and Training Aces to give your pet the excellent care they deserve!

Pictures of her playing with a Chi Chua Chua are too cute. But, there were two behavior problems we couldn't fix on our own. The first is that she could go from zero to ten in excitement level seemingly in a split second. When someone came to the door, this docile sleepy girl would bark and run out of control full speed from one end of the house to the other. A 130 pound dog running out of control is a recipe for disaster for grandkids and adults and houses alike. The second problem was though she responded very well to "come" when in the house, it was a different story when off leash at the dog park. We'd say "come" and she would look over her shoulder as she continued on her own merry way. Jamie came to both our home and to our dog park so that he could observe my wife's and my own behavior as well as observe first hand the behavior of our dog. He spent time watching and asking questions. He gave us homework to do between visits. And he thoroughly explained why he gave us the assignments he did so that we would understand why we were doing what we were doing. In addition to home visits, we at one point boarded our dog with Jamie for three days and Jamie used that time to continue and reinforce the training. Now we have the dog that we never in our wildest dreams thought we'd have. When the grand kids are here, (3 yrs & 6 yrs.) she can usually be found lying down maybe 7 or 8 feet away. When their toys are all over the floor, she ignores them. When they're eating at their own kid sized picnic table (right about chin level for the dog) she goes no where near them. And when they pet her, she just stands there and wags her tail. Her biggest fault with them now is to give an unexpected and uninvited sloppy kiss! When the doorbell rings, I simply have to say "hey," and she quiets right down. When guests enter the home she's not permitted to run up and greet them. Only after everyone is in and settled do I let her know that she can now greet them calmly. Now at the dog park, life is good. When I say "come" she stops whatever she's doing and comes. Even if she's in the midst of playing with one of her dog friends, she comes. To avoid any escalation, I've called her away from an unfriendly and snarling dogs, and she responds instantly to my command to "come". Sometimes she's off and sniffing something and then discovers that we're now maybe 50 yards ahead of her and she comes a running! And we're now at the point that there are no treats or rewards for obeying, other than a quick pet and a "good girl!" Jamie gave us the dog we dreamed about but never really thought we would have. Jamie is knowledgeable, patient, insightful, very skillful, and caring. He has certainly found his niche as a dog trainer. We would recommend Jamie and Training Aces, NJ without reservation.

I feel so fortunate to have found Paws First, which gives me the option to have my pets cared for in their own home. The ability to book online makes arranging for pet sitting so easy and convenient. Response time is always very quick, and the rates are reasonable for the peace of mind these people provide. I love getting email updates on how my dogs are doing. Even when they're naughty and get into the trash or have a little accident, everything is in order when I get home and my dogs are happy and loved. **Need to add an update because of one visit in particular. It has taken me a while to be able to write this. Over the Summer, I had the amazing folks from Paws First watching my dogs while I was away for the weekend out of state. My senior dog's health had been in decline for a while, but it didn't seem to be cause for too much concern- just typical old dog stuff. One night, her health took a very sudden and dramatic turn. It was clear that if she were brought in to the the vet that she would not be returning. I didn't want my old girl's last moments to be spent someplace unfamiliar. The staff at Paws First went above and beyond to provide extra care and comfort to her when she needed it most so I could race home to be with her. I am forever grateful for all they did for her.

If you are looking for a dog trainer, your search ends here…read more I purchased a 10-week-old Australian Cattle Dog in late September and about two weeks after, we were at our wits end with the dog, and considered taking the three and a half hour drive back to the breeder. From not being able to walk around the house without having your pant legs pulled at, to sleepless nights (or nights spent on the floor with the pup), and not being able to sit on the couch without being bit, it was becoming too much to handle. Then we decided to go to Steve at A-1 Total Control Dog Training. Years ago, I lived in a development with the most well trained dog I've ever encountered. Being only about 5-6 years old, I vaguely remember my neighbors, my house, and even my friends, but I will never forget this dog. While living here, my family got a Great Pyrenees puppy that enjoyed nothing more than slipping out the door and taking off around the development. Luckily, when the trained dog's owner would see this, he would send his dog in a full sprint to circle around our puppy until we were able to get to her to bring her home. The dog was simply amazing, and was trained by Steve. Now, in just our fifth week of training, our puppy is on track to rival this dog from my childhood. Though she is still young and has a long way to go, Steve gives the tools and instruction for everybody to be able to do so, and we are confident she will get to this level of obedience. Do not waste your time or money elsewhere and take your dog of any age to Steve at A-1 Total Control Dog Training. It will be the best decision you will ever make for you and your dog.

This past February my last elderly dog passed. She was over 11 and I had lost her brother the summer prior at over 13 years of age. That left with me with two (5) year olds. The house was quiet and I was left with a void after taking care of elderly sick dogs for some time. I volunteer at my local SPCA and at the time they had a 1 year old and 7 year old mother and daughter there. I opted to foster them since they must be adopted together and that would take some time. All 4 animals got along fine for some time. Then maybe 1.5 months later after I had officially adopted the two girls some really bad fighting started to erupt. One of my males who has been prone to being bossy and dominant in the past just started fighting with his brother constantly. Fighting like he wanted to kill him. I sought advice, made my vet aware, did research on the internet, called a contact at the Philly SPCA who I was referred to..........even brought a trainer in. Nothing seemed to help. It got really bad. At one point he had gotten a hold of the other dog's ears and caused hematomas. He had to have surgery. My life was turned upside down by this situation. I felt lost and hopeless and was under tremendous stress. I wasn't safe (I had been bitten several times) and my dogs were not safe. I just assumed that this was all starting due to pack changes with bringing the girls in. It is not part of my belief system to do so, but I even thought about contacting the shelter so I could rehome them. The contact at Philly SPCA gave me a list of referrals for behaviorists and I called Barbarann. We scheduled weekly training in my home so she could see what was going on in their element. Literally within 15 minutes of her first visit she identified that the fighting was due to my one dog's diet being changed to high protein. Due to some allergy issues and other factors I had recently changed the dogs to a homemade food regimen that was 50% protein. She told me to get him senior food with a protein level below 20%. I immediately did so and I am not exaggerating when I say within 3 days his aggressive and dangerous behavior had decreased by at least 50%. We kept with the weekly training in the house and I followed Barbarann's rules. She was able to give me much insight on the personalities of my dogs and many helpful hints to follow to keep them inline. She no longer comes to see them on a weekly basis but I have no reservations about using her services in the future if they are needed or boarding my animals at her facility if I find the need. I am so very thankful that she was able to pinpoint a SOURCE of the problem immediately. Not even my vet, dogsitter, or other trainer were able to provide this information. I am not saying they should have. However, if it was not for Barbarann being able to offer this information I have no idea where I would be now. My home is now happy, yes I still have some issues since pugs are stubborn comedians but we all now have peace and no one is in danger. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the help she provided.
