Bad communication! I brought my dog for a 2 week board and train. She had issues due to me being ill for 2 yrs, joint replacements etc. Mika had no bad habits until she did! So as a responsible dog owner I wanted to correct the bad behavior right away. I was told if weather delays the training they would just keep her longer no extra charge which I thought was great! After the snow and his family got the flu I needed to visit my Mika. Since I rarely got communication from him! Coming out of the house on a leash she was pulling him...she does know how to heel. I got worried but figure well the next two weeks were going to be nice so maybe he'll train her...boy I was wrong ! When I sent her to board and train at 6 weeks every progression was video tape so I could see how she's doing. I felt like I was annoying him by asking to at least send a proof of life photo. He did. He was holding her by her collar to take the picture and she looked miserable! Going into week 3 No smiling mika! Mika has so many dog friends from being well socialized at dog parks a trails. EVERYONE loves her. Except a few who just hate the breed! From the 2 week delay I'm thinking he got backed up with other dogs coming in and put Mika on the back burner, staying in a crate most of the time which she is not used to at all! Issues I had and still do, is her greeting people at the door with jumping up for kisses, thats her nature, also jumping up on the TV if certain commercials came on, pawing me marking my senior hands into black at blue just with a light tap. As soon as I brought her back home . I told her to stay, the other issue she had. I had my neighbor ring the bell to see this progress ...stay lasted 2 seconds. A few minutes later she heard the commercial come on the tv the one she hates! Again jumping on my mantel and growling! He told me how she was "happy and learning"! 2 days before her release date I got a somewhat snarky response telling me he can't change who the dog is...and it was her breed AND age that was the problem. I responded no you didn't!! He said I told you "word for word" he can't change who the dog was! NO but they advertise they are dog behaviorist! He knew her age from the 45 min interview I had with him, also knew she was a rottie and was with me...telling me he loves the breed and was raised with them! This is why I chose him after interviewing another trainer the day I got to visit him! I would have NEVER have left my baby him had I known how he really felt! I'm far from an idiot about my dogs! Had 2 Pyrenees, 4 Shepards, Doberman and 2 horses with only my gelding that was sweet but the boss! I got him a trainer and all was well! A month before she was going to them, I emailed him that I was wondering if you could really train an older dog. His wife responded YES!! So it was no mystery to Rich. He knew too!!! Bottom line, I knew she was in the crate most of the time! And that saddened me! They dont walk dogs off property to for them to get a break from the house as they advertise on the website! He was blaming me the owner!! Say what?! Of course that's why she was there. He told me he to go on the trail I always walked with me to instruct me! Time was up and there was no schedule for this. So I'm back to square one with a dog who was locked up most of the time when she was used to 2 mi walks 2x a day! Always happy! One other thing that's important is she missed getting her nails cut and they were already long. Texted him to please trim her nails "no problem". Got her back took her to the groomer finally got her extra long going inward nails! So I advise anyone who loves their dog stay away from Nora's!! Read the reviews on his site! All great! I would not recommend this place. They did nothing with my dogs and failed to call me right away as soon as my dog was getting sick.

I made the mistake of selecting Nora's training. To say I am displeased is an understatement. My dog sustained several injuries while under the "care" of Nora's dog training. One injury that was significant enough that we had to amputate his tail. They offered to pay the vet bill and gave us the old "the check is in the mail" routine. Even lied and told me that the delay is that they "just lost our mom." That was this July. She passed away in April. $2000 for the training and ~$2500 for the vet bills. I cannot recommend using another trainer strongly enough. read more

We took our little guy Sailor to Nora's in June 2020. The pooch was a 10 month old puppy who was unable to attend doggy day camp training classes due to COVID-19 and we figured it best to have him completely away from his enabling parents. Upon reviews and meeting Nora we decided to use her and her trainers for Sailors obedience training. The training was for 2 weeks but since the little determined guy was somewhat difficult Nora thought it best to give him a 3rd week on the house. Wow! On the pick up and owner training day Sailor was a changed dog. Definitely obedient, though still stubborn at times, he does listen and follow the commands. Being a mixed beagle he has cut down on being distracted while being walked. Walks are now much more pleasurable and less time consuming. Prior to Nora he was a heel nipper. No longer and he actually sits and behaves when other dogs approach. Thanks to Nora and the crew. By the way Nora will guarantee to come and refresh your training should it be needed. We had Nora train all of our dogs, plus we have used her boarding services. Our dogs were trained by Fred and all of them did really well. Our dogs knew her name and Fred's name. We brought our extremely strong boxer mix, a rescue, to Noras. She was referred to us by a friend who was bringing their second dog to her. My experience with Nora's dog training was horrible. They took my dog for 3 weeks and she came back with kennel cough. Nora proceeded to lie to me and tell me she gave my dog all the antibiotics but didn't, and my dog got allot sicker a few days later. After fighting with Nora about vet bills she only agreed to pay for half, and wouldn't refund my money for training even tho she got my dog very sick. On another note she took all this money from me and then checked on my dog once and I haven't herd from her since. read more

I have a 7 month old Rhodesian Ridge-back/Ibizan Hound mix. I took him to Nora's so that I could get some extra help with crate training since my Fiance and I were not having any luck. When I tell you we were not having any luck, I mean we followed every instructional guide to the "T" and he just wasn't enjoying his crate time. He'd go in willingly, but when he was in there, it would basically be an enclosed bathroom for him...then he would sleep in it. When we took him to Nora's, I wasn't impressed but I also wasn't disappointed. If you haven't been there, it's ran out of her house which is comforting since someone is always around. Anyway, He's there for about 3 weeks and then I hear from Nora, providing me with a video of his training experience. The video was quite good and I will commend the staff for the command training they provided him. The command training was not a priority of mine so even though he had better behavior, I asked how the crate training went. She was very jolly and advised that my pet didn't have an accident in the crate since day 3 and that he was one of the best dogs they've ever had (Yeah, Okay). When I took him home, he was a little less shy with the crate, simply because that's where he slept/ate for the past 3 weeks and anyone would get used to that. So, Nora handed us the follow up instructions/schedule and we had the weekend to spend with our new dog and see how he'd do. During the weekend, he was great; however, he's always great when people are around and that's not why he initially went to Nora's. Moving forward, we purchased an identical brand and size of crate he had while at Nora's (our fourth crate). My Fiance and I went about our normal work-week, with a dog walker scheduled every 4 hours, and lo and behold, our pet was doing the exact same thing he was doing before in his crate (whining, urinating, defecating, etc.). We call Nora and try to see how this was possible. She tells us that he's newly back in the house and he should be fine in a few days. She stated just to follow the schedule. WELL, we did that and nothing improved. Thinking that we were still doing something wrong, we call her again and bring him over there to be boarded while we went on vacation. it was two fold; he was also going to receive extra training (for a payment, of course). We come home from vacation and meet up with Nora. She tells us that he was still one of the best dogs they've ever had and that he never had an accident in his crate. So we bring him home, hang with him for a day and then its back to our normal schedule. AGAIN, we come home to a literal s**tstorm. We call her immediately and we get a hold of one of her staff members. She stated Nora wasn't around but that she would get back to us as soon as possible. I'm still waiting for the return phone call... All and all, was it worth the $1,300.00 for the three weeks and an additional $400.00 for the second visit? Not in our opinion. We stressed to her what we needed done and what to focus on. What we got in return was a better behaved dog, with the same potty issues that they claim they can help you fix. They also say they'll come out whenever they're available to help with issues. They don't. Note that we've called several other times to have her come out and we weren't able to be penciled in until 3 weeks from the date of the call. So, I now deal with a dog that will lay down on command; yet, my house still smells like feces and dog urine. Not what I had in mind. read more

My dog went to Nora's for two weeks training. First, you should know her idea of "in home living" means many crates on the back porch and training means cheap, sharp prong collars. The prong collars were not mentioned in all our before conversations. When we got there, she did not seem to like him or maybe it's just large hounds. She didn't speak to him or give him any attention, that should have told me to get out of there, but I left him. I kept calling and asking for updates about every other day because they never contacted me or posted photos. Nora consistently told me he was doing "super or great". 12 hrs before I was supposed to pick him up, she said not to come, he wasn't ready. He stayed a full 3rd week. He was still doing "super" each time I asked. I asked for photos and she sent me one via facebook, that was a half inch by a half inch. I couldn't make him out, 140lbs of dog isn't easily seen in 1/2" size! Then came more red flags, she said she had to put her "physically strongest trainer, stronger than a man" on him and he "couldn't" go up stairs. A good trainer does not need physical strength and this is a boy who lives in a 3 story home and is up & down full flights of stairs at least 25X a day. Nora's has only a few steps in & out. The trainer couldn't or wouldn't work or motivate him. At the 3wk mark, he still needed more work. I insisted on picking him up anyway. She tried very hard to talk me out of coming and told me to return him to her the next week for more training at her expense. He hadn't learned anything, in fact he was worse on leash than when we dropped him off AND he was no longer his happy, goofy, loving, affectionate self! Nora never followed up with me despite $1500 paid, keeping him longer and teaching him nothing. I sent him to a different trainer, by day 3 he was good on leash, did heel, place, sit on stopping, down, has street manners and store manners. (In 3 wks, Nora never had him off property although it was promised). At 7 days with the new trainer, he is walking/running at heel off leash, doing extended duration place off leash with distractions, etc. There is no problem with the dog as demonstrated by a different competent trainer. If you pay $1500 -$2000 for training, get a reputable trainer. I DO NOT recommend Nora's. I honestly wonder if my boy spent most of his time there crated. read more

My dog spent 2 weeks at Nora's and upon coming home we saw he had gauges around his neck which was probably from a choke collar. We took him immediately to the vet and testing came back that he had contracted a staph infection. We emailed Nora's two times with photos of my dog's neck and no response. This is my first time having a dog trained in NJ and we were recommended to use Nora's. We've always had our previous dogs trained in PA but because of being at the beach for the season, thought we'd try her out. Never AGAIN! I just want other to see this so their dogs won't have to go through this. read more

I'm one of those people who has separation anxiety when I leave my dog. She is a wonderful rescue who is deaf...and I have made her the center of my world. Problem is that I was giving up going out, or family gatherings or travel of any kind. Then it started to affect me when I worried at work. She has never been in a kennel...and would not stay with anyone but me. Then I found Nora, I didn't believe anyone could win my Katie over. Nora was so kind and understanding that she gave me the confidence to try. I am so glad I did. My dog can now stay there while I'm at work or play. The staff is exceptionally caring, I honestly have not experienced that level of care and concern demonstrated by that group. Katie can't wait to go and grabs her leash when she sees my car keys! We are thrilled with the training our dog Diesel has gotten. As a 115 pound dog that is overly excited, we had zero luck training him on our own. We hired an in home trainer with not much success. The word "no" was a game for him. We were unfamiliar with Nora's school but desperately needed a fix. He spent a week there and they actually broke him in! It was amazing to see the change. These experts can make incredible changes and they are definitely worth the drive. We have gone back 3 times and it's over 1 1/2 hours away. They know dogs better than anyone. Not sure how we feel about this place although they taught our dog basic commands, they used a prong collar which we were not aware of. We had asked for one specific behavior training since Nora was a behaviorist ( I don't think Nora does any training herself) and claimed she would be able to help however, this behavior was never corrected once we brought our pooch home we called for a follow up training as guaranteed.. When the trainer came up he suggested we used a SHOcK collar to correct the behavior and stop excessive barking.. Since our dog doesn't bark at people I have a strange inclination he didn't like this trainer for some reason. Although this might be a good place for a less dominant dog who just needs to sit and stay etc we def do not feel like we got our $2,000 worth. read more

Nora's dog training has been an incredible experience for our little poodle. I recently purchased a teacup poodle and was I was introduced to Nora through my friend who had her dog trained at Nora's Dog Training.  After doing a ton of research (I research everything!) and even interviewing Nora, her company came across as the best trainers, with the most experience (everybody there on her staff has over 15 years of experience training and caring for dogs). We decided to send our 5 lb 3 month old poodle to her training. Within a week, we had updates of Jax playing, learning how to sit, heel, and lay down. He was potty trained to go outside and that stayed when he came back to New York city. He built his bladder control, his social skills with other animals and learned how to be a great dog easy to care for. Nora's staff are sweet and knowledgable. She gave us weekly updates and sent us a few pictures along the way which made us feel like our dog was progressing and well cared for. Nora sent us a great YouTube video that showed us how we can continue to reinforce our dog's good behavior and when she dropped him off she gave us an at home one hour personal training lesson. I would highly recommend Nora's dog training to anyone who wants to ensure your dog will be well cared for and learn the essential skills to be a behaved and fun dog. My dog goes back to Nora's for additional boarding when we are away because he loves it there and we feel like it is a safe, comfortable and great environment for him. Our experience with Nora ended with us taking the dog we sent to her to the SPCA today. We sent out 5 month old German Shepard to her two weeks after purchasing the dog. She would literally use the bathroom in her crate and run in it. I worked with her and wasn't getting anywhere with her. I was sent a list of references from Nora and all checked out well. We sent our dog knowing two weeks might not be enough to correct her behavior. Six weeks and thousands of dollars later we got our dog back. 20 minutes into being home, 10 of which I spent outside with her, she soiled the crate. Ok, I thought, maybe she is just anxious. It only got worse. Not too mention, she was terrified of going into the crate. She howled and cried and immediately began going to the bathroom on herself. This wasn't even the biggest problem. When we sent her she had no aggression issues what so ever and got along amazingly with our other dogs. Upon her return, she was dog aggressive! Any time another dog was being paid any attention by another person, she would literally attack it. One was hurt, and we had no choice but to attempt to have her placed in a single dog home. We aren't only out thousands of dollars, but a dog too. I wish I checked yelp rather than the references she provided. read more

We have a rescue dog named Sam who previously had showed aggression around strangers and other dogs. We were referred to Nora's dog training Company by the ASPCA. Sam completed Nora's dog training program and we are absolutely thrilled with the results! He is now so obedient and well behaved. Since he's been back we have not seen any of his old behavioral problems. We are so proud of him! We are also thankful for Nora and her trainers!
