The owner introduces himself to you and lets you walk around the facility if you want to check it out. Also, they screen dogs for friendliness or aggression, that way they know whether to separate the aggressive dogs from group play during their stay. They are also great with grooming too. I think Amanda is the one who grooms my dog. Previously, I had gone to a place where my dog was there ALL DAY. At Pampered Pet, it is about 3 hours.

So Sunny and I come (it's our first time), and there's a Red Macaw occasionally screeching which Sunny is somewhat startled initally but soon settles down regardless of it's occasional screech. There's cats too!!!!! Three of them in her work area. One, a 17 y.o. asleep the whole time on a nearby chair. Sunny can somehow sense her 'years', and doesn't bother her. This is a learning experience for him and he shows his true Golden colors by being 'cool' with it all. How does he look? Great!!!!! Show dog GREAT!!!!! I'm a happy camper. I love Diane.

I was told he's doing great and coming out of his shell as he was nervous when I dropped him off. I didn't hear from anyone until Tuesday October 5th (the day before pickup) when I received a voicemail from Mallory that she needed to speak with me. When I returned her call I was informed that my dog had a rash on his neck and wanted to tell me before picking him up the next day and it shouldn't be a "cause for concern." She stated that the day after he was dropped off, staff noticed a tiny itchy, dry spot on his neck that progressively got worse. She continued to repeat that they didn't want this to be a cause for concern and naturally concerned, I asked to be sent a picture of the rash. This was no rash at all. The picture I was sent showed my dog next to a trainer with a raw, oozing wound where his jaw meets the base of his neck. It looked very infected and he definitely needed medical treatment so I immediately went to the facility to pick him up. When I arrived, I did not find my dog in the same condition as shown in the picture I received just an hour earlier. His wound was dry and completely scabbed over. The staff stated the wound looked much better than before (because it was healing). I immediately took him to the vet for a thorough exam and our vet diagnosed a skin infection of the hair follicles caused by injury to the skin. He also estimated that the original picture I was sent earlier that day was taken at least a few days prior. The vet also estimated that this injury occurred at least a full week prior to the training staff notifying me. Not only did my dog have an infected injury on his neck, he also had an infected wound on his testicles, had lost a significant amount of weight, as well as developing upper respiratory infection. Prior to sending him to the facility he was a big overweight with a very thick coat. The dog I picked up had lost at least 10 lbs and his spine and hip bones can be felt to the touch. The picture I was sent from staff showed a very obvious infection and the staff neglected to care for my dog or notify me that he needed medical treatment and attempted to treat this wound themselves with only A&D ointment. When asked about the 24 hour veterinarian on call mentioned on the training facility website, the staff stated they do not have a veterinarian on call. A bit misleading. After examining the neck wound we noticed small bumps around the sides of the wound that seem consistent with a pronged collar. We don't know how these injuries occurred but it's very clear our dog was NOT properly cared for and the staff neglected to provide our dog with basic medical treatment or at the very least inform us that our dog needed to see a vet. I will NEVER recommend the Dan Gentile Training to anyone.

I'm writing now because we now have a new puppy and I was looking for training places and this place came up and brought up bad memories so I felt I needed to write our experience. We dropped our dog off and went on a trip so she could go through the program. Coming back to pick the dog up we couldn't wait to see our dog thinking she would be so excited to see us but to our surprise our dog was subdued and looked defeated. No tail wagging or anything. Before the trainer showed us what they did, she commented that if WE didn't follow directions we had to put $25 in this jar. We laughed it off as though she was kidding but to be honest I don't think she was. They walked us through what they did and the "progress" and mind you they had a spike collar on the dog so when you pull it digs right into their neck. The trainer was showing us and she pulled so hard my dog let out a painful yelp! It looked like torture to be honest. We immediately said we are done here and left ASAP! My dog eventually recovered and we found a dog trainer that used positive enforcements and she became her happy self again

After speaking with her and going through the history of my dog, she explained what exactly is the reason behind my dogs behavior! And listening to her, we already see a change in my dog! We had previously sought help from another local trainer, but her problems only worsened despite our efforts. After an in- depth consultation and meeting, unlike the other trainer we had consulted, Roseann strongly urged us to first seek professional veterinary help before beginning training with her. Because at that point we felt helpless and as though we were out of options, we decided to heed her advice and visit UPenn's Behavior Department to meet with a team of veterinary professionals. Roseann joined us that day so she could be involved with the planning of Lola's subsequent training protocols as suggested by the Veterinary Behaviorists. I believe the efforts of the interdisciplinary collaboration that day saved Lola's life; it turns out that she had several underlying medical conditions that were exacerbating her existing behavioral issues. After that visit, Roseann tirelessly worked with us to follow through with the training protocols given to us at UPenn. Things started to slowly improve with Lola and we finally began to see positive changes. Once unable to have any houseguests, Lola learned to become tolerant of visitors by engaging in alternate behaviors that made her feel safe when they arrived at the house. Once intolerant of unfamiliar humans approaching her, we learned how to use counter conditioning exercises to help her remain calm and non-reactive. We continued working with Roseann for the next several years and have made progress which I never thought possible. Although Lola's fear and anxiety will always prevent her from behaving like a "typical" dog, we've successfully learned how to manage her behavior so she can live a happy life. Roseann's compassion and empathy is unmatched, as she treats each client as she would her own dog(s). Roseann remains abreast of the most up-to-date research and utilizes only the most humane, scientifically based training techniques with her clients. It is these qualities which set her apart from others in the unregulated field of animal training. We are forever indebted with gratitude to Roseann for sharing her expertise and knowledge with us.

I name all of three of us as finishing this class because at Kindred Souls, the owners take part in their dog's training. Previously, we brought our French Bulldog, Harlow, to basic obedience classes at Kindred Souls nearly seven years ago; and we knew as soon as we got a new pup, Kindred Souls would be our first stop. Pete is truly incredible at his job and has such an understanding of all types dogs. We truly appreciate how he puts the responsibility on the owners and his program is set up to set the owners and dogs up for success- as long as you listen to what Pete is teaching you. We've watched dogs that were timid and recently rescued come out of their shell and complete the training program like a whole new dog! Pete will not let you take shortcuts, which is what you want from a trainer, in my opinion. There's also weekly homework's provided in basic obedience, which are really helpful in making sure those in class stay on top of what they learn in class each week. My answer was , she may sometimes not get along w smaller dogs . She immediately said well we dont separate by size . First of all, not what i said and 2nd of all your website CLEARLY reads : "we place in groups by size, age, disposition ". I was just trying to explain that my dog would just really benefit from an evaluation and they can determine and place her where they see fit? It was like she was trying to deter me from coming in and pretty much argumentative. It was bizarre. I then explained that the day care closest to my home does not have cameras which is why I was interested in their day care. She immediately said well we dont have cameras either. I was confused because i just read on their website , verbatim " we have closed circuit video monitoring" . She said well we have very high end clients and there was a lot of theft here so those cameras are for that . I told them their website is very misleading . They could of course care less. Now i understand the terrible reviews here on Yelp . Not surprised. HARD PASS.

They even took him to the vet for us while we were on vacation one time because we found out after dropping him off he had ransacked the garbage, eating who knows what.
