Yo and her team was great for boarding and training our 7 month old puppy Labradoodle. He recieved valuable socialization and training. We were given updates throughout the week and an hour long hands-on demonstration of all he learned at the end. We were also given detailed notes to continue training at home. You can tell the team there really cares for all their student dogs. Thank you Canine Learning Academy! read more

I'm very disappointed with our experience at Canine Learning Academy. Reggie started their all-day Prep School in May when he was only 4 months old. He initially attended 5 days a week and eventually went 3 days a week. By the time he was 8 months old, we had invested almost $10,000 in his training. My goal was simple: I wanted a well-trained dog that I could confidently walk and take with me places. Unfortunately, that is not what we ended up with. Reggie still pulls on the leash and is reactive toward other dogs, which makes it difficult for us to take him to many places. For the amount of time and money invested, I honestly feel like what we received was a lot of supervised crate time with small increments of training throughout the day. I understand that training a young dog takes time and that no trainer can guarantee perfection, but I expected significantly more progress for nearly $10,000 and months of full-day training. I will say that I really liked the trainer Reggie was paired with. She was kind and clearly cared about him. My concern was that she had so many dogs to work with that I don't feel Reggie was able to receive the individual attention he needed. The owner was also not very present during the majority of the time Reggie was enrolled, which was disappointing given the level of investment we were making. Another major issue was that the air conditioning was broken for essentially the entire summer. It was extremely hot, and having dogs spending all day there in those conditions was very concerning. I went into this program hoping to have a dog who was well trained, manageable, and able to go places with us. Instead, at 8 months old, we are still dealing with basic leash manners and significant reactivity toward other dogs. I really wanted this to be a great experience for Reggie, and unfortunately, I cannot say that the results justified the time, cost, or expectations that were set when we enrolled. read more

I have been going to canine learning academy since October of 2023 with my mini goldendoodle Timber. We are a strong advocate of positive reinforcement training. Your puppy or dog will grow and learn so many skills and be well mannered. With all the guidance and training I have the dream dog that I can take anywhere with me. Timber has learned so much through the puppy program, all day school, grad prep school, puppy and manner classes, canine good citizen, agility and so much more. This community is one of a kind. My dog and I have made so many strong friendships and have created so many memories that I hold close to my heart. Even though they train a large number of puppies and adolescent dogs at the same time with very individual attention. A bit pricey, but when you figure out the per hour rate you'll see that this academy is a bargain. The big plus is all of the follow-up group classes on the weekends. read more

This was a godsend for me. I rescued a 7 month old large breed pup who had ZERO training and after two weeks of "school " at CLA he was transformed into a manageable pup. ok so heads up I'm gonna try to make my review as thorough as possible. It is clearly well deserved. Yo is the best hands down. She is kind, communicative, and sincere! When in doubt always go to Yo! I do. But seriously Look no further (excellent with doodles and all dogs alike). Trainers are all very professional. Robert is awesome with bonding with larger, high energy dogs, and implementing impulse control with Nikki the crazy coco. It is very niche and job well done. Especially with Nikki Coco (my massive+ high energy standard bernadoodle puppy). It's a talent. Nikki is no princess but she's a gentle giant for sure. She is sensitive and has a very kind heart but she is very large and strong puppy no doubt... Hannah is very sweet also. She raised Diana (my beautiful baby mini goldendoodle) to be the sweetest, most lovable, cutest, and cuddliest baby girl of all time. Diana loves Hannah and school very much! Eric is an awesome driver for evening drop offs. He is very knowledgeable. I love Melanie as well. Very communicative and the best. Lastly, If you want anything done or When in a pinch always text Yo first. You are welcome. She makes everything happen. She makes the world go round and she truly runs the show. It's magic! Thank you Yo for everything everyday. Truly like a Disneyland for dogs. Amazing accomplishment! *Only place that I trust with my my doodle puppies. I love and appreciate that everyone connects and cares about Nikki (bernadoodle) and Diana (goldendoodle) as much as I do! Important notes to keep in mind:) - Clean school (+they wipe the paws Asian household friendly lol). If you know you know. - Flexible for working professionals with busy schedules especially ie doctors, lawyers, business, and families - Picks and drop offs available for weekday academy - Flexible with unpredictable grad school schedules (med school, law school, I.e) if you're a booked, committed, or busy student - Can leave fur babies when on vacation! 10/10 love - Trustworthy (I am patient but also a total perfectionist and hard critic)! Love cla. - Sustainable and friendly solution especially for busy, animal loving, working professionals! Just go sign up already you will thank me later (I promise in advanced! you are very, very welcome)! I think k covered all my bases. As an Empath I can see people's energy. Every single person at this facility is kind, caring and loving. My little 6 month old Honah lee starts shaking and running back and forth in the car as soon as she realizes that we're on our way to school because she loves it so much. We watch her on the live stream everyday and she is doing so well. We are very grateful for Canine Learning Academy and the transformation we see in her. I love the "parent teacher conference" they do with us to help us to continue her training. We are extremely happy with this facility and I can't say enough good things about them. I think they are all really Angels cleverly disguised as humans. Sam, Hanna and Kat hold a special place in our hearts. We love you Canine Learning Academy and we will continue her training here when we enroll her in the "2nd grade". Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. read more

I rarely write reviews online--I'm usually too busy with other priorities--but I have to share something about CLA. It's hard to find places where the quality remains consistently high over time. CLA doesn't just give you attention at the beginning and then fade away--they make sure your needs are met throughout your entire journey. The owner, Yo, and her team are incredibly loving and supportive. I know for a fact that we couldn't have navigated this without them. CLA has become our dog's second home. We've now experienced their puppy training, boarding services for graduates as well as their special holiday parties and events, which further demonstrates their commitment to building a true community. They genuinely care about you and your pet, giving their whole heart and soul to what they do. You know your pup is in excellent hands when they're there. It's rare to meet someone so special and big-hearted. As first-time dog owners, I'm so grateful we found them. I honestly can't imagine having gone through this experience without their guidance and support. read more

SO grateful to have found Yo and Canine Learning academy. We got a puppy thinking we were prepared, but we were so not. We have 2 little kids and realized quickly we needed help. I called a couple of places and on the first call Yo spent about 20 min with me giving me tips and advice and I hadn't even hired her yet! She took our 10 week puppy in for the board and train and was extremely responsive to every text and question I had once she was back home. The puppy classes on Saturday's have been super helpful too, her staff really cares about these dogs. Thank you Yo and team for your kindness and compassion, we (and Sunny) are so thankful for you! read more

First off incredible!!! Canine academy right away treated me and my wife as family. We had no idea what we were getting into when getting our dog Ludo. So we searched and searched for help everywhere. Yo and her team were a blessing to find. Yo sat down with us for an hour and went over everything. We are so incredibly grateful that Canine Academy is here for us and we are always in good hands. If you are thinking of having them train your dog please please just do it. You will have the best trained dog ever! We also receive pictures and video of Ludo everyday! We picked the train and board for a week, we had a new dog! We also picked the 6 month puppy school after that, now we have a perfect dog! read more

I spent a week with Yo for board and train and without her help, there's no way I could have handled bringing home a puppy! The mental support was just as important as the physical training! We got my puppy on a routine in 2 days and he started sleeping through the night in his crate on day 3! I appreciate their business moto of positive training, as I can see not just my puppy responding but all the other dogs and puppies they work with as well. They are knowledgeable in all aspects of dog behavior and how to correct unwanted behaviors. I was able to go home, supported by their online training site, and continue to train my puppy! read more

I have nothing but love and gratitude for Canine Learning Academy! We rescued a 1 year old lab mix that was very unsure of the world with a ton of energy. We were overwhelmed at the beginning wondering what the heck we were going to do and Yo was extremely reassuring. Since starting 3 months ago, she has become so much more sure of herself and the world around her. She will beg to go to the learning academy when we are in the parking lot. Robert has done the best job with her and she absolutely loves him! There is still so much work to put in, but we have seen major improvements! Thank you Canine Learning Academy! read more

BEST DECISION EVER! From our initial consultation with Yo we knew our 1 year old Belle was in good hands. Yo was able to identify the issue we were having with Belle being protective over us and come up with a plan that Yo and Julie executed. During our in home sessions Julie gave us lots of helpful information and her instructions were clear and easy to follow. The entire staff is amazing and you can tell they love what they do and love all the dogs they train. We have now incorporated Belle going to daycare once a week. It's a great break for me to get work done and I know she loves it too. She comes home exhausted from a full day of mental stimulation and playing with her new dog friends. But most importantly we have seen a huge improvement with Belle at home. We used to have to cross the street when going on a walk if we saw people or another dog approaching as Belle would growl and bark at them until they passed, but now she has so much more confidence and doesn't react to people or dogs on our walks. We couldn't be happier with the results we are seeing!!! THANK YOU Canine Learning Academy!! read more

Still 5+ stars! We recently had a big life change (new baby) and the CLA team helped us make arrangements for an unexpected early birth--because they really do treat our pup (and us) like part of the CLA family. But that's not why I'm updating my review, my update is to say how well their techniques work. Our pup has behaved well from the very beginning after meeting the baby. She respects boundaries and cues and knows that she will only receive positive reinforcement so she never needs to feel tense or scared. Even if she is unsure about something she looks to us first. She is so relaxed and lovey to the baby. CLA is right--be a treat leader! read more

I was lucky enough to adopt a golden doodle pup named Maggie almost a year ago now. She was just over 2 months old at the time and I had never taken care of a puppy on my own before. Needless to say, I felt very overwhelmed and nervous I wasn't up to the task. I knew I needed help so I started looking for trainers. Canine Learning Academy came very highly recommended to me by a friend of mine who also had their pup, Darla, trained by them. We had a consultation with one of their trainers, Julie, and immediately I knew it was gonna be a perfect fit for me and Maggie. I'm very happy we decided to start training while she was super young because Julie helped us build an awesome foundation of communication for me and Maggie. I quickly realized that it wasn't just Maggie that was being trained, it was me. And Julie was so patient with me and kind and tremendously helpful. I call her my puppy therapist because she is always so attentive to all my questions and helped quell all my anxieties. She was always just a phone call or text away whenever something came up that I didn't know what I was doing. That alone made it worth every penny and then some. Maggie is a smart pup and Julie helped her more than exceed her potential. Canine Learning Academy has lots of options for training that fit practically any situation you might have. We went for private in person training at my apartment, but it also included group training and a ton of super helpful online content. Maggie is just over a year old now and I can confidently say that she is a GOOD dog and I truly have Julie and Canine Learning Academy to thank for that. If you have a new fur baby and are anxious about training on your own, I can't recommend these guys enough. Do you and your dog a favor and give them a try. If you wanna check out Maggie, she's got her own Instagram. @maggiedoodledawson read more

I would not and could not have gotten a puppy if were not for Yo and Canine Learning Academy. Before we signed the contract for our puppy, I called Yo and asked if we could do a board and train. I found Yo because of friends' dogs who are SO WELL BEHAVED I said "if I ever get a dog, I want my dog to be just like theirs!" Yo laid the foundation for an incredible dog and she made sure he was well-mannered, house-trained, and crate trained/sleeping through the night before he came home to us. We also have a toddler and Yo came over and set up our house to give our puppy his space so that he was safe and our house/toddler had boundaries in place! We are amazed at his progress and continue with his weekly training AND board our dog with Yo. We get so many compliments on how amazing our dog is and we truly owe it all to Yo! If you are looking for the best dog trainer in the WORLD, look no farther. She goes above and beyond, checks in and answers all questions, cares, and is such a leader when giving group classes. We could not be more grateful! Worth every cent. read more

I don't even know where to begin. I've had a major issue with separation anxiety with my dog. Julie has been super quick to respond to all my messages asking (More like begging) for help. She has had many amazing recommendations to work with my dog and figure out what was triggering her need to escape. She helped me find it and find a way to ensure my dog's safety while working through separation anxiety. In addition to that, Julie and Yo have provided amazing feedback while working with them in the zoom classes during the COVID stay at home time. I can not say enough amazing things about this company! Yo and Julie have by far exceeded my expectations helping to find a way for my dog to relax and helping me learn how to tell when she's not. read more

My short review for folks that are speed reading here: Yo, Julie, Laura, Curtis and everyone at Canine Learning Academy is awesome. They are science based trainers who stay up to date on the science and best practices of dog training. They are certified by KPA - one of the most prestigious dog training academies available. I learned so much from them and the relationship between me and my dog has improved so much with their guidance. They are also very responsive and passionate about what they do. I absolutely recommend 100000%. Long review for those that want to read on: Meeting Yo and the Canine Learning Academy crew has changed my life. I previously trained my dog using a "balanced" approach and used some aversives like a prong collar. Long story short, my dog developed some unintended behavioral issues and become more stressed out in multiple situations. After taking an Applied Animal Behavioral program with the University of Washington and learning about the science behind animal training and behavior, I decided I was only going to look for the best in the field to help me with my dog since I lacked the practical skills to apply my knowledge to actual training. I found Canine Learning Academy through the KPA website - one of the most prestigious dog training academies that was recommended by my professor, who is a certified applied animal behavior consultant) at the University of Washington. Since the first time I met Yo, I absolutely loved her. She was so passionate and so knowledgeable. The information she provided aligned with the curriculum I learned at the University of Washington, so I felt very comfortable in knowing that Yo was science based and very skilled. As someone who has worked with a variety of different types of trainers in the last 4 years, I can attest to the skill and efficiency that Yo and her team has. Super supportive, responsive, passionate, knowledgeable, innovative, and dedicated. Canine Learning Academy will take great care of you and your dog, regardless of what services you select and will work with you to choose the best plan of action for you and your dog. If you've made it this far in my review, the end is near. Bottom line - if you want the best for you and your dog and want your dog to ENJOY listening to you instead of just being forced to... call up Canine Learning Academy. You'll be glad you did. read more

Jade was an extremely reactive dog when we started training with CLA. It has been an amazing journey working with Julie and Yo to learn the stress signals she was giving me before going into a panic attack. Julie has worked tirelessly with me as well as my dog to help me learn how to take the teaching she (Julie) did with her (Jade) and build on it. Jade used to react with full blown panic attacks at the sight of another dog. She has learned how to chill out around most dogs now and has reduced her overall anxiety significantly! It is beyond amazing how much Julie has done with Jade through a 1 hour session once a week over two months! My dog, Jade, is SO much better behaved! Behavior adjustment training and obedience training and tricks all mixed together to change my dog for the better. There is no amount of praise and thank yous that can tell Julie and Yo how much I appreciate the positive impact they have had with my dog! read more

Canine Learning Academy... where to begin! Yo, Julie & all the trainers are amazing and have become a part of our family. From the first phone call and meeting with Yo we knew we were in good hands. Yo asked all the right questions and more to put new puppy parents at ease and reassured us that we were doing everything right but that we just needed a little help to get our little girl on the right foot. We had walked away from working with a previous trainer who used force and intimidation with our puppy and knew there was no way we could continue that style of training. Finding Canine Learning Academy and hearing and seeing first hand their care and fear-free method of training was like hearing what angels must sound like singing. From the very beginning they gave us a manageable and tailored routine for our family and puppy which has allowed us to feel confident in what we're doing. We do daily daycare and our puppy can't wait to go to school every morning! What an amazing feeling knowing your puppy LOVES going to school to work and learn AND socialize with other dogs. We also love getting her daily "report cards" from school and seeing and reading what she's done that day. We now have an amazing 5mo old soft coated wheaten terrier now thanks to Canine Learning Academy! Yo and her team are great people and with care and passion for what they do. We cannot recommend Canine Learning Academy enough - it truly feels like a family that we're so happy to be a part of. I hope this helps new puppy parents find their puppy tribe/family with Yo & her team. read more

This company is incredible. I highly recommend Julie and Yo and the talent, dedication and love they have for their jobs. Our boy Charlie was born deaf and sight impaired. He just turned a year old. They've worked with him since he was 8 weeks old, through many difficult challenges, and saw so much success with our smart boy. We have just recently brought him into our family in North Carolina, a long way from his original Southern California home, and that could not have been done without their help. His previous family loved him and cared for him, but it wasn't the right situation, so Julie and Yo travelled many, many miles to make sure this boy had everything he needed to thrive and continue the great start he got with them. We are so grateful that we were able to connect with them and are amazed at the lengths they go for their clients. They love their jobs and it shows! read more

Canine Learning Academy saved my vacation. Our dog sitter had to cancel at the last minute, only a few days before our 10 day trip to Fiji. They were available for a few days of our trip, however, due to a family emergency wasn't able to watch our old boy, Rusty, for the remainder of the time. I was frantic. I found Canine Learning Academy after a recommendation from a friend of a friend. I spoke to Yo over the phone and she agreed to meet with Rusty to see if they could accommodate him. She was so understanding, friendly, and Rusty was extremely comfortable with her from the get. She coordinated with my brother-in-law to arrange for pick up at his home, because we would already be on our trip. She sent photos to us almost every day. When we returned from our trip, Rusty almost didn't want to come home. And whoever said, "you can't teach an 'old' dog new tricks," obviously has never experienced the staff at Canine Learning Academy. My 14 year old puppy picked up a couple good habits during his stay. Absolutely fantastic! Julie and Yo have been incredible with our 1 year old golden retriever Bruce. He has done train and board with them twice and is such a well-mannered, gentle pup after their diligent care and training.
