Loved my experience here today. My dog needed a new groomer, and I found this place in my neighborhood. Took her in, her groomer Lauren, she's such a sweet heart. She's so nice to the dogs, give them kisses and holding them with care. When I picked her up, I'm amazed what a good job Lauren did and she told me Bichon isn't her special, but I think she did a pretty good job. This used to be good place. Service has become belligerent and they will change the price when you pick up your dog. If you are unable to trim an anxious dog nails, you are in the wrong business. I called and spoke to the owner who gave me a quote for requested services. Not the full grooming that I usually get. The staff, who did not trim my dog's nails because she was scared, insisted on charging the higher price that I normally paid for full services. The owner did not return my calls after this. I had meet her before, and her boyfriend (washing the dogs) would not deal with her any longer as he didn't look like he had been trained in anyway. I am clean fresh smelling and my hair is cut short for the summer. The problem is I asked for a teddy bear cut with a normal rounded look. Instead it was chopped super open my ears near shaved and my face almost bald. I definitely don't see any style at all. If you want to get clean and shaved down this is that look. These two are unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful. Take care to ensure you have a written cost for services so they do not change the price when you pick up your dog. My experience is that they fail to give an accurate price estimate of services, and when you pick up your dog, you are stuck with having to pay much more. Its a "bait and switch" scam. The only reason why this business even gets one star is because you cannot write a review without one. Although I have been a customer over decades and through different owners; due to Ian and Fabian's rudeness, my dogs will never return. Beware of cuts! Took my two dogs to get groomed here and was excited to find a groomer in my neighborhood that was closer than my normal place which is booked up for weeks out. We were a little skeptical that we got an appointment for the next day but thought maybe someone had canceled last minute. I was hoping that some of the bad reviews were just flukes and we would have found our new favorite spot but I definitely will not be bringing my dogs back here. When we picked them up, my one dog was bleeding in her armpit - and we mentioned it and they said she didn't like to be touched. She's 14 and has been getting groomed many times a year since she was a puppy and we've never had this kind of experience. Once we got home we noticed they cut her ears so short that they actually cut the cartilage on them. Did not get a puppy cut like we asked but was completely shaved down and looked like a Chihuahua or greyhound. (she's a multi-Poo) Then we noticed on my other dog he kept licking himself and realize that they had cut him as well. Very disappointed and I feel horrible that I put my dogs through that. read more

I found Canine Image by accident looking for something in the area but I'm so glad I did! The owner and his assistant are super nice and I have watched them being so gentle with the dogs. Our cute little morkie was dropped off in quite a shaggy state and when I picked him up his short summer cut was so nice: gorgeous, sweet smelling, and so smooth! Two weeks later his fur is growing in nicely and he looks amazing and is still so soft I love petting him. The grooming was excellent, the staff are nice and helpful and the price was very reasonable. Casper and I couldn't be happier and I will bring him here from now on! read more

Updating review - NEW OWNER! Steve and John are no longer there... Do not recommend, particularly dogs that require more experience with being groomed/cut. I have a pomeranian and he looked horrible when I got him. He was uneven and it appears as though he was showered or blow dried after, all hair clippings/fur was everywhere! And he does not shed and we rarely get this much fur residue after a pick up. We've been grooming him for close to 10 years and this is one of the worst grooms! Not to mention I dropped him off at 3 p.m., which we had an appointment for. Received a phone call at 5 p.m. indicating that they couldn't get to him. We're definitely upset and frustrated...I really felt bad for our doggo because he's been sitting in the cage for 2 hours. I would have appreciated a phone call earlier if they realistically think that they couldn't get to him (which in my experience has never happened). The new/current owner indicated we can bring him in the next morning when he opens at 8 a.m. We essentially have to rework our schedule/errands to bring him back, as we wanted him groomed before our camping trip this weekend. When we picked our dog up and mentioned we were a little upset, the owner seemed puzzled as to why it was an issue.... Like my dogs been in a cage for 2 hrs and no work had been done. We mentioned that we would like to be compensated for the inconvenience, which he agreed to and said whatever we think is fair. Came back next morning and said 10% off would be fair...so the cut was now $50...but, when we got our dog, there was fur clippings everywhere! And he was poorly trimmed, not to mention, adding that he was cut by someone named Laura who is experienced with poms. The fact that they let him leave like that! Appalling. Had to go home and shower him again and blow dry him to get all the clippings off. I didn't even bother returning so they can fix him. Over it! I'll never come back here again. I'm just so sad as it was my go to spot.... They always took care of our Mochi. I don't do any other services here, so only recommending that you find a different groomer if you need your dog to be more intricately groomed, for dogs similar to a pom. read more

I've been brining my dogs here for a couple years and I can't say enough about how much I appreciate them for what they do, but also how much I like them as well. They take great care of the dogs and are the nicest people you would ever meet. I find myself talking to them everytime I'm there for probably much too long. If you're trying to decide whether to bring your dog or not, don't hesitate, they're absolutely great! I had the BEST experience ever with Steve and John (I hope that's the correct names I'm horrible with names) hadn't had my 2yo husky pup groomed in probably about a year! He had SO much loose fur I was sweeping my room every other day!! And I brush him pretty often! So when I got him back, he looked AMAZING and I couldn't believe it!! First off, I called up seeing when they could squeeze me in & at first they were hesitant because apparently they've had huskies that just don't do well getting groomed. The one time I've had my pup groomed, he got a good report back so I assumed he'd be fine. (Turns out he wasn't, didn't shock me but I was hoping he'd be better about getting groomed.) so they actually got me in for the very next day! I got quoted at $50-$70 , which I was praying for the lower end of course. Second, I got there and discovered they only take cash! It was okay though, because I didn't have to pay until I picked him up so I had time to go to the bank. It was at the end of their day so luckily both guys could work on him because some things were touch and go with my Ro. One had to hold him down while the other worked on him. So finally, the state that I picked up my dog in!!! OMG, they ended up charging me $80 which I was HAPPY to pay!! Which sounds crazy I know but I'm definitely an obsessive dog mom (he has an Instagram page, yeah! @rogeliothepup ;) but They ended up doing the whole nine on him! And my boy was scraggly!! Pretty sure he's 10 pounds lighter from all the fur they got off, they did an anal gland cleaning, trimmed the scraggly fur off of his paws, and I think Steve named a few other things they did but I was too in shock, he hasn't looked this great since I got him at 8wks old!! Overall, 10/10 would recommend, especially since they're super close to me and I would much rather invest in community businesses rather than big chains! read more

I DO NOT recommend the lady groomer that works at this place. Disclaimer: This place seems to be reliable, so this is why I trusted my dog with them. Thus, I cannot speak for the other 2 male groomers. I am only speaking for the lady. We asked for a baby cut and my yorkie came home with a bold cut, maybe it was a misunderstanding who knows. My yorkie came back with 1/2in body hair. The top of his head has a weird slanted cut. You can clearly see that the groomer over cut that area. His nails are also not cut evenly and they are still really sharp. Besides the nail and hair, my dog's underarm was bleeding because there is a huge 2in. wound. I suspect it to be a razor cut, but the male groomers denies it when I went back to complain. The lady groomer wasn't even there and they spoke perhaps of her. They gave me something to treat the wound and offered a free groom next time i visit. I just left after that because my dog started shaking really hard and seemed very scared. I have never seen him shake like that before and i don't want to put him in another stressful situation, so i left. The groomers were very nice, but i am not going back again. read more

These guys are awesome! I called in and asked if they had an opening for a large Golden Doodle. The hardest breed for a groomer to have to deal with. They tried to set an appointment in the future but I explained that My work schedule was to crazy to make appointments. So they did some juggling and told me to come in at 3 that day. They were finished just after 6 and my dog has never looked better. Instead of being lazy and just trimming him naked, they put in the elbow grease to comb out the matting and gave him a polished New York cut mixed in with an amazing Mr T style haircut. Super good people and Buddy(my dog) isn't easy to deal with. read more

I have brought my dogs to Canine Image and the awesome brothers, Steve and John, who ran it, for years and years. Unfortunately my beloved Rylie passed away (quite some time ago) and I moved further away, so I had no reason to visit the shop. I now have a new rescue, Izzie, and needed grooming. Trying to get an appointment within a week in my Tierra Santa neighborhood was impossible. So I decided to give Canine Image a call. What do you know, the brothers had decided to retire and sell the shop. The new owner is warm and welcoming. My Corkie had her nails trimmed, glands squeezed, and coat thinned and trimmed (muzzle, tail, & paws). The cost is very competitive and setting an appointment easy compared to other shops 2-3 week out appointments we(that's insane!). If you're looking for reasonably priced grooming and great service you will be delighted with Canine Image. I'll be back soon. read more

Not happy at all. I've been taking my two Pomeranians here to get groomed by Steve and John for approximately 8 years. To say I was shocked to find out they left without informing their customers is an understatement. I decided to give the new owners a try. I went to pick up my Pomeranian and I was again in shock. He looked like the clippers attacked him. His nails weren't trimmed and I highly doubt he even had a bath. He still had crusty goop in his eyes. I asked the owner if he had a bath and he replied "smell him". I know when my dog has a bath his hair is fluffy not crimped. I am going to attach pictures. They also charged $60 for this cut and no bath no nails trimmed. Steve and John would have never let an owner pick up their dog like this. Never coming back here again. read more

Steve and John are wonderful, and they are definite life-savers! My regular groomer was closed for the 4th of July holiday and I needed to find a groomer for a rescue dog I was fostering named Davey. His hair was long and he was hot! He's a little Bichon, that I'm afraid has way more insecurities than I even knew about. Unfortunately, every time he felt any sort of twinge of pain or discomfort from the brush/shave/clip, he would go to bite them. As unfortunate as this is, Steve and John persisted and gave my little guy the most amazing haircut! They were very patient and very kind when I went to pick him up and I'm so grateful to have found them to help me when I was in a bind. I have since adopted Davey and look forward to his transition so that I can bring him back someday and show them what a lover he is.
