First off, we was told she was a mini long-haired dachshund.. which if you seen my sweet girl, she definitely is not mini by any means. We also asked if she would shed a lot and they told us no. Turns out that she sheds quite a lot. I wish that they would be more honest about their animals. They will say what they want you to hear. We love our dog so much and wouldn't trade her for anything in the world, but it would of been better if they had been honest about her. We also bought an allergy spray from here and got home only to see that it was expired. Just be careful if you shop here. :)

Speck's is an Indiana based chain of pet supply stores that focuses on taking care of your existing pets. Some places offer pet bathing stations and veterinary services too! I didn't check out all the features of this one. I was mainly interested in getting some healthy treats for my small dog since I had just ran out earlier that morning. I was greeted by both the staff working that afternoon and they directed me to the aisles that contained the treats. They carried a wide selection of treats, mostly natural/healthier than I find at the big box stores. Like the rest of the Speck's I've been to, they mainly focus on the more common pets: dogs and cats. They have islands of bulk pet food available. I was pleased to see that they carry a lot of remedies for health problems here. I really like using the pill pockets for when I am required to administer pills from my local vet. I bought him a lime green collar that was only $14.95. It's been a minute since I've purchase a new collar but that price point seems really reasonable to me. It looks great on him and fits comfortably. Every employee I've ever interacted with here has been very kind and knowledgeable. Additionally, they seem to genuinely like their jobs and are happy to be there. There are some cats that hang out in the store and that's exciting too! Today there were some kittens for adoption from a local rescue. It seems like they really give back and care about animals. They have a little festival every year in the summer too to promote their business as well as local animal adoption. If you are able to shop here, I recommend it highly. Shop small and support Kentucky local. Additionally, they do have a small human health and wellness section. Think essential oils, bath bombs/salts, candles, and a selection of gift items.
