Serve been coming here every 4 weeks for over 4 years. And it's seriously the best groomer. Such nice guys who work there, my dog is always excited to go in and never nervous which is the best sign. They don't complain or judge if your dog has a few mats. I've had several bad experiences with other groomers in PB/La Jolla and would never go anywhere. Update 5 years later still loving this place. read more

We fly down from San Francisco to Canine Coiffures every couple of months because they are THAT GOOD! My dog loves it here and I know he is always in good hands. I've never trusted a groomer as much as I do trust these guys. Most of the time I don't even have to tell them what I want, they just know and I've never been disappointed. Prices are also amazing and fair. Couldn't recommend them more!! read more

I've now brought my 2nd rescue dog to Charles and he is the best! I can't say enough good things about Canine Coiffures

Charles always does an amazing job with our golden doodle pup! We usually leave him long, but he got such a great fresh summer cut today. Though we brush our dog almost daily, he gets super matted - the team here always gets him so clean and mat free, he returns to us like a fluffy cloud piece of heaven. Noodle is looking fresh to death! Thanks as always Charles! read more

Charles is the best. We have been taking our dogs here for years. We have a senior Pomeranian that he keeps fluffy and beautiful. I wouldn't trust her with any other place. read more

Charles is fantastic! Been taking me dog here since he was a puppy and now take he and his sister. They do a stylish, practical cut, safe bath with no dry skin all at a reasonable price. Most I portant to me is my dogs safety and I never worry. Wouldn't go anywhere else! Thank you Charles read more

Awesome job. Came out just how we wanted and received compliments on his cut even weeks later .

We've tried a lot of groomers in the PB / La Jolla area, and find Canine Coiffures to be the best by far: * Our dogs don't mind going there (as much as the others; not that they're in love with it!) * The results are fantastic; our dogs always come back looking great. * It's a great value for the price Highly recommended, without qualifications. read more

Today was my first visit here and I can say I will be coming back! The man on the phone told me that he's busy but he can take the two dogs at 3. Everyone was very friendly and got to us right away. My feisty chihuahua didn't like the man but he handled everything really well and I was in and out within 10 minutes with two dogs! Nail trimming was only $5 and the service was great. I highly recommend you bring your dogs here for friendly service! read more

A friend of mine recommended this place to get my dog groomed and bathed. I took my dog in here for the first time about four months ago for grooming and I take them in every week for a bath. He's a Tibetan terrier which means he has a lot of hair, and it is a little bit difficult to manage. Charles and his staff do a fantastic job of leaving him looking so handsome. You know the place takes good care of your dog when the dog runs to the front door with his tail wagging continuously. I highly recommend this place. Charles is a good man. read more

Charles is fantastic. Been bringing my sweet little bichon named Robi for eight years. Always looks like a show dog and his prices can't be beat. He has always taken great care of Robi especially this last year as he was approaching 18 years old. He passed away today and I let Charlie know how grateful we were that he was Robi's groomer all these years. Thank you Charlie. read more

Charles is great! He's been grooming my dogs- standard poodles for at least a decade! Even though we're downtown we come up and our dogs always come back looking wonderful. No attitude and always fun to deal with. We won't go anywhere else. read more

Yea... I'm going to be a huge downer right now, but if you can't be honest on Yelp, where can you be honest. IN fact, that's why I'm here.. because I can be honest. I brought my boy to La Jolla because the groomers in PB scared me... because they're in PB.. and they'd probably be stoned 21 year olds who can't cut a dog's hair. But.. things didn't go quite as I'd planned. The guy who runs the place is very sweet, and seems to really care a lot about the dogs. However, my experience did not go so well....... : Picked my boy up when he was done. Took him home. Noticed his eye had blood in it, everywhere it was supposed to be white. This happens when dogs struggle on the grooming table and the thing around their neck cuts off their circulation. I get that. BUT my dog weighs 5 pounds.. and every groomer I've ever brought him to says how good he is, and that he just stands there. HE does NOT struggle. There is no reason this should have happened to him. I did notice there's only one person working there sometimes (maybe all the time, I don't know). WHen I came in, a dog was left standing on the table in the back. I'm no groomer, but... I'm pretty sure you don't ever leave a dog on the table. That's how they hang themselves. This makes me really nervous, just in general. It cost me $85 to get his eye looked at and get him ointment for it. So if you add $85 to the $35 I paid...and then consider the panic I went through.. it's a little too much for me to go back. read more

Our Doberman gets his nails trimmed here everytime. It is so nice to be able to just walk in without an appointment and have his nails trimmed in less than 5 minutes. Great prices and our puppy walks out looking happy rather than enduring some type of traumatic event. Highly recommended for your furry friend! read more

Charles is awesome! Always takes the time to talk to you about how you would like your pooch to look. My little guy always looks amazing after an appt w/ Charles. I highly recommend Canine Coiffures for your pup! read more

Found out about this place on Yelp. We took a chance and got my wife's Maltese haircut here. She is very picky and particular about how he is cut. It is the best haircut the dog has every had. Our dog was still happy when we picked him up, he has never been like that before anywhere else. A+ all the way around. Charles is a great friendly guy and you can totally tell he is great with animals. Will keep going back and highly suggest bring your pet here. You won't be disappointed. read more

For big dogs, for big dogs with long hair, for big dogs with long hair and some anxiety problems...there is no one better in La Jolla than Charles and Canine Coiffures. I recommend them for any four legged pooch...woofwoof! read more

New to the area and did my research (mostly on Yelp). I decided to try Charles and his team to clean the pooch. They have not disappointed. They are always super busy - which is a good sign. You need to make an appointment, or at least call in advance to make sure they can accommodate. They get the job done and the prices are fair...what's not to like about that. read more

We have 2 Shih-Tzu and 1 boarder collie mix, all go to Canine Coiffure every few months for a full grooming. Charles knows and cares for all of them - he is great with each one, keeps records of prior requests (he knows ours without asking). We get simple puppy cuts, so nothing special. But I've seen show quality stuff going out the door many times. He is busy and it's not a huge place, so you might need to wait a few days to get a slot. Don't let the name and the La Jolla Boulevard address throw you. It's in North PB, just below Bird Rock. The place isn't fancy, but it is clean. Worth it without a doubt. Prices are very reasonable, a bargain when you consider the total experience. read more

Charles is THE best! He LISTENS as long as you feel like talking and then does exactly what you want. He genuinely cares about your pet. Truly, seriously cares. You can see it in the way he hold the animals, talks to them, catches on to their mood and adjusts to help the animal know they're in good hands. Both my parents and I live in Bankers Hill and we drive into Pacific Beach/La Jolla to take our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (dogs that definitely need an excellent groomer!!) to him every month. Charles will make both you and your pet completely happy! read more

No one would take the time to come out our Labradoodle, so our kennel referred us to Charles. He loved Maple and took the time to come her out. Maple was happy and fluffy when we picked her us. Charles is wonderful! Highly recommended. read more

We moved from La Jolla to downtown 10 years ago. We keep bringing our dogs to Charles because HE IS THE BEST. You will never have to worry about the well-being of your pet with Charles because he is an animal lover and has his own doggies who he brings to work with him. Your dog will be beautifully groomed and both he/she and you will always want to return; we have for 20+ years. read more

I have been taking my Bijon to Charles since I moved to North PB 3 years ago.. He always does a great job and my dog actually really likes going which always surprises me .. It has taken me some time to sit here and write this.... I was so angry since there was nothing I could do..... I have a wonderful little 3.5 lb Maltese and went in and met Charles, we chatted for about 30 mins...I was told she would be done in about 3 hours. I come back and from GO something was off... the personable Charles wasn't acting like before.. maybe he was busy.. maybe he was stressed.. ok... that's fine.. let's see my beautiful little dog.. He goes in the back and brings her out.. She is set of the counter.. she's standing there stiff as a board making grunting noises.. NOTE- she is the most lovable, happy, playful dog... this is not like her... maybe she got stressed out... this is where the red flag went up that something happened.. Charles then tells me.. he's going to give me a 50% off discount because "she was so good".... NOTE: I've never paid under $55 for her... ever.. and she's always "good".. I was a bit confused about the whole interaction.. I left the shop (I tried walking her out of the shop but had to carrier her since she didn't want to walk)..I sat in my car looking at my dog.. listening to her grunt...something was wrong. I listened to my gut and took her directly over to my vet. ** After a full exam and Xrays, I was told she had a compressed spine from being dropped. She could become paralyzed. After 3 MONTHS (no joke- 3 months) of being completely drugged/ immobilized she was able to leave the house. *** I UNDERSTAND *THINGS* HAPPEN, BUT YOU ALWAYS NEED TO BE HONEST. If I didn't take her to the vet she could been completely paralyzed or dead. Charles behavior is disgusting and weak. read more

We were referred by another Doberman owner to get his nails clipped. We walked in randomly and the man working set everything down to take him for a few mins. Drake didn't make any noise during the clipping. Great customer service and great work. read more

Charles and his staff know how important your dogs are to you! I have two mixed breed husky/german shepard dogs. Yes, that's a lot of fur to clean and manicure. EVERY time, the team at Canine Coiffures has my dogs looking like they are destined for the runway. But to be completely serious, I LOVE my dogs to the point of obsession (maybe a sickness but I'm cool with it). Each one of you are reading this review to check on this business, because, you too love your dogs, and Charles is the best and THE most trusted dog groomer in San Diego. read more

Love, love, love this place! It is so easy to book appointments for my puppys nail trim and ear cleaning. The owner is super chill and flexible. I come here every 6-7 weeks and I'll continue to do so. Not to mention that the view is of the beach..so it always puts a smile on my face! read more

I love this place! I am very picky about my "dog care" and I dropped off my Berner and she was returned a sparkling model of a dog! For the price it is a deal! We have been having flea problems and I called to make sure they do flea baths. Charles was nice enough to suggest that steam cleaning works alot better than bombing (which is good to know cuz poisoning my house didn't sound appealing). He said his dogs were getting fleas too, which is good to hear so I don't feel like a leper dropping off my fleabag. read more

Charles has been grooming my golden doodle Ruby for several years and she always comes out looking great. I highly recommend!

Like many others, came across this place via Yelp. The 5 stars ring true! Charles did a terrific job with our Shiba Inu's trim and clean. The price was incredibly reasonable (and I have to confess, in a dimwit moment, I completely forgot to leave a tip! - Sorry Charles! We will be back, and we'll get you back!). But job wonderfully done, and very friendly service. Our pup will be back when it's that time again! read more

I took both my dogs too, Charles. Both were matted and needed some work. One of my dogs is older and is not the easiest dog to groom. Charles took his time with her and gave her one of the best cuts she's ever had. I would recommend this dog Groomer as they are fairly priced, give great cuts and take good care of your animals while they are there. read more
