The shop itself has no parking, but there is on street parking nearby, which is very difficult to find during the day, and 2 car parks over the road, which often have spaces. It sells a good range of bakery products, excelling in their delicious cakes and biscuits. They also sell a range of sandwiches, which are often included in a meal deal with crisps and drinks - some of these are quite healthy, however Greggs do have a large number of unhealthy options such as sausage rolls and pasties which are delicious and are often on promotion.

I love the sainsburys finest, it is posh yet affordable and lovely. My husband seems to love Sainsburys basics- the cover is boring I guess, but they are so cheap and delicious! Example; pack of choc chip cookies- 40p! Kids got homework...no nightmares anymore! My eldest daughter (11) has started high and she has to do a lot of craft work, so I can just stop buy and get paints and card. They will make up your favourite sarnie whilst you wait if it's sold out on the shelves and always box cream cakes so they don't get smushed on the way home. It gets very busy on Saturdays so expect a long queue which sometimes stretches outside of the doorway.

I have a huge recipe collection and that includes several that very unusual ingredients. I file those recipes away in my head, thinking "if you can ever find amchur powder/palm sugar/tamarind paste/quail eggs/ancho chile powder/etc, you'll have to buy it and make this recipe!" Having just moved to Newcastle, I have already been impressed by how many ethnic ingredients and spices are just in your average Tesco, but Mmm... blows them all away! I think I spent 30 minutes in here, just scanning the shelves, trying to memorize what I saw so that I could come back when I needed a specialty ingredient. They have everything! For such a small shop, the selection is truly impressive. Lentils/grains/beans, hard-to-find spices, and my very favorite - a Mexican/Latin section with lots of different chile powders, chipotle chiles in adobo, and even Mexican cheese like queso fresco! And fresh corn tortillas! I thought I'd never ever find those things in Newcastle, and was well impressed. They also have olive oils and vinegars, some in bottles on the shelf and others to be tasted from large dispensers. You can fill an empty bottle of oil/vinegar then bring it back for a refill when it's empty and get a discounted price. Oh lord what else - hot sauces, preserves, loads of unusual condiments, beautiful dried pastas, various flours.... and yes, quail eggs! As they say on their website "Don't ask if we stock something, ask us where it is!" Right in the centre of Grainger Market, you will find this small but perfect foodie paradise. This store inside is quite large and also nice considering it is in a Tesco Store, Starbucks have managed to add their own personal effects to it. Surprisingly, this isn't the first time I have been to a Starbucks in a supermarket having previously been to the Starbucks at Altrincham Sainsbury's, closer to my home. Despite being in a supermarket this isn't a franchise store and they accept Starbucks cards and rewards. Mobile ordering is possible here also. My drink was served quite quick, however the barista wasn't really friendly, just telling me they had no large straws for my drink, she handed me a spiling and overflowing drink without offering a napkin, despite it being wet and sticky. The layers of my Venti Iced Caramel Macchiato had began to merge, the overall drink quality was okay, average up to what I'm used to at Starbucks. I did however keep getting big lumps of caramel in my drink which wasn't too good. Overall, this is a nice Starbucks store but due to some issue with the drink quality and service, and the fact that going here will pressure you into going into Tesco, through going into their car park (taking more time etc) I sadly feel this store deserves just two stars.

It is probably the largest store I saw on my recent trip to the Tyne and Wear Region of WHSmith, which included branches in Newcastle Central Railway Station, Durham and the Gateshead Metrocentre. This branch was my favourite out of the ones mentioned mainly down to the size, it had a good product range for items such as lever arch folders, drinks and snacks etc. The drink selection was good however I found the 2 for £2.50 promotion to be a tad expensive, considering Superdrug nearby runs a promotion to have 2 for £2, which works out £1.80 with my Unidays Discount however sadly the range they have is much poorer than the WHSmith branch, when comparing the branch nearby to this one. There also is a huge staircase in the store, with the upper floor having some more WHSmith floor space as I recall and a post office. The staff member working seemed friendly enough, although I did have to take longer checking out my items as for some reason the self-service tills wouldn't recognise the 2 for £2.50 offer on my drinks, meaning it would take longer as I had to go to the manned checkout, then I had to go through the slightly longer process of finding my card after being told they don't accept Apple Pay by an employee, only to go on to find out they did accept it and the member of staff who served me didn't know about it. This is a large, decent branch of WHSmith, staff training on payment methods, machines recognising offers and pricing needs to be worked off at paramount importance, but until then this is still a decent store and a nice branch of the chain to warrant a three-star rating.

The blue fluorescent lighting makes the shop horrible and dingy and the staff look like they are working in a prison. The store is far too big for what it is (a newsagent) and they never seem to have enough stock to justify the space. Especially upstairs. All that is up there is the post office and stationery, with a huge empty gap in the middle. I only really come here to buy snacks on the go as they have a good selection of confectionery, including American chocolates. I would have left a 1 star review but the confectionery lifts it up to 2. But as a whole, WHSmith works better in the travel industry, like in train stations and airports because their main high street stores are always eerily quiet and depressing, with the only noises being your footsteps and the occasional beeping of the self checkout.
