This a hidden gem and a MUST visit, everytime we visit Newport, Rhode Island. The customer Service…read moreis always top-notch. The lobster are always fresh and delicious. Their prices are very affordable and comparable to anyplace serving fresh lobsters. We had fish, fries, calamari and lobster of course! This is our second visit to this location, first time was 2015. Yes indeed I shall return in the near future. They have plenty of seating outside. They ship to your home as well or you can purchase by the pound to take home.

I came here on the recommendation of locals and Uber drivers who believe this is a top tier spot…read morefor lobster roll. Ambiance: 5/5 This is a true lobster shack -- picnic tables overlooking a harbor with a view of some beautiful boats. It's not pretending to be anything fancy, and that's exactly the point. For what it is, it's five out of five. Super unique. Service: 4/5 Super quick and reliable. You're not getting much interaction here -- you say what you want and you get your food. That's the nature of the place, and they do it well. Food: 4/5 Let me focus on the lobster roll since that's what this place is known for. I got the 6oz lobster roll for $32, and honestly, shockingly good bang for your buck in Newport. Of all the lobster rolls I've had in the area, this was one of the better deals for the amount of meat you get. Now, the lobster itself is served cold with celery. On a hot day it works, and the meat is fresh and tasty. But as someone who loves warm lobster soaked in butter, it wasn't exactly my style. Personal preference, but worth noting. The real dinger here is the bun. I expect a high quality, buttered, toasted bun with a lobster roll -- and what I got was closer to a cheap hot dog bun that wasn't really toasted or buttered. And listen, the bun is half the battle. Think about a great Philly cheesesteak -- the roll makes it. A subpar bun can really drag down an otherwise solid lobster roll, and that's exactly what happened here. Also got the coleslaw, and it was just not good. Probably one of the least tasty coleslaws I've had in a while, and I usually love coleslaw. Overall: 4/5 Newport Lobster Shack gives you exactly what it promises -- quaint vibes, great harbor views, fresh lobster, and a true shack experience. The lobster meat is fresh and abundant and the value is solid for Newport. But on my hunt for the best lobster roll in Newport, this isn't it.
