I braved getting waxed and I must say the staff are just so sweet, efficient, and personable. I like that in all three instances that I have gotten waxing services I have learned something about my service provider and have had great conversations with them. It didn't feel like a get in and get out kind of place. Personally that makes my day and makes the experience that much better. They have multiple kinds of waxes they use and as a totally inexperienced waxer I have no idea if that is normal practice or not. But when I asked they definitely were okay sharing about each wax and what they were for. The unique purple wax is their special formula meant to get those little fluffy hairs, dark green for hard wax, and if I remember they have one more wax. Rooms are private and the large washroom is perfect- I especially like that they have their lotions to use in the bathroom. There isn't a lot of seating in the main shopping area before you go in for waxing but there is certainly lots of take a look at. Prices definitely seem good and there is free parking outside the facility.

I took the plunge and got eyelash extensions from Bizou today. I really had no idea what the…read moreprocess was, how long it would take, anything. But I went in with an open mind, hoping simply to get gorgeous lashes by the end of it. The studio is really nice and clean, with fancy mirrors everywhere and a pretty table where you sit down with your lash stylist. Although I never actually learned her name, my girl was nice, and went through all of the information with me before heading over to the bed. That sounds really odd, but you lie down on a bed-type-sofa for the extensions. Ladies, if you wear contact lenses like me, don't wear them to the appointment. The process starts with the stylist taping your eyes nearly shut, and holy heck, were mine ever watering. I was really glad I decided to wear my glasses today. The first ten minutes or so are uncomfortable. Not painful, but very uncomfortable. I pushed through it, and eventually it was totally fine. I barely even noticed the tape after a while. The rest of the hour went by pretty quickly, all things considered. You can't see anything, you can just feel the stylist gently attaching the lashes on top of your own. I really had no idea what time it was or how close we were to being done, but it was over before I expected. The music helped the time go by quickly, although they really need to update their tunes. (Dido and Whitney Houston? I'll take Katy Perry and Britney Spears, please.) Overall, the experience was a little weird, but it didn't hurt a bit, which was my one biggest fear. And, I now have gorgeous, dark, long curly lashes that I'm simply in love with! A full set will run you close to $100 (cash only), and you're expected to get fillers three weeks later for another $60. While I'm happy with my first experience, I can't say yet with certainty that it will be worth it to go back and spend so much more. I suppose only three weeks time will tell!
