Fortunately, I decided to quickly check out this food store on my way back. I can now say with confidence that this is the place to get your herbs and spices, for it only stocks the most flavoursome seasonings at prices far more realistic than your average supermarket's. My cinnamon was big and uneven. With some huge sticks and some tiny and all ranging from a woody brown to a powdery orange, this looked like it had come from a real plant. The spice was reasonably priced, too, with a large bag of this rustic looking stuff for just under two quid. Since then, I've been back to Al-Sheemal for various products. The parsley I asked for at the back of the store was given to me in a generous bunch, and the place is excellent both for food cupboard stables and middle-Eastern specialities. The staff certainly know what they're selling and are always more than happy to help so there is no need to be shy if you haven't the foggiest what anything is or does. I have had a fried chicken…read moreaddiction for years and when I moved to Wales in 2016 I struggled to find something as good as the Favorite Chicken and Morley experiences I had in London...until I found Chicken House. I find KFC supply chicken that is tiny and dry but Chicken House give a generous size that's succulent every time. KFC give chips like they're having a supply issue and Chicken House give enough chips that could feed a family of four. But that isn't a complaint. The chips are amazing and I believe the chicken shops around never supply good in both chicken and chips - except this place. I have lost count how many times I have ordered from this place but every time they're quick to deliver and the food is always spot on. They once made an error with drinks and to apologise they came by with my correct drink and extras for free. Also if you love spicy their spicy wings are mega spicy. I hope they never go out of business.

For mains, we ordered the mixed grill for three and the chicken biryani. For dessert, we had coffee and baklava. I have eaten middle eastern food in many places: LA, New York, Dublin, London, and Dubai. This was the best I have ever had. Period. Bar none. Even though the wait to order may have initially caused me to rate the restaurant five stars, the food and the subsequent service made me rethink that. Staff are keen to offer refills on drinks, but this isn't entirely innocent. With the quite cheap prices on buffet food, the drinks are a little bit more expensive and carry a bit of a premium. The food is pretty average. That's an honest opinion. Really don't think it's anything to write home about, and i'd hardly call it authentic and flavoursome. The poor quality of the food is detrimental to the whole experience quite significantly. After all, you do go out to eat the food, not take in the surroundings.
