The New Testament was an inexpensive one with cardboard covers. My mother had written notes in it though, so it felt very special. I arranged with David Weinstein to replace the cover with a synthetic material but he found a small piece of beautiful leather and used that at no extra charge. The Missal was re-covered with goat skin. Both volumes were embossed in gold script on the covers. They look and feel amazing - like new books with a whole new life. It was so nice to hang out for a bit with David in his peaceful shop. I would definitely come back to see him for any other book binding needs. He's a real artist.

Usually, we would just wrap it ourselves, but this was a special occasion. My boss sent me here,…read moreknowing they they usually do pretty stuff. I called in advance to see what time they closed, then asked how much it was to wrap a gift. They responded that it started at about $12. Hmm, why anyone would pay $12 to wrap a gift is beyond me. Little did I know, this was only the beginning. Having walked in, I gave them my gift and told them I would be back (I had to go to nearby Sweet Lady Jane to pick up a cake). Before I walked out, she asked if I had a budget. Knowing my boss wanted it real nice like, I said, just please make it look nice for a bridal gift. They said okay and didnt quote a thing. Didnt warn me for my impending doom. I left thinking it would be around $20 or so, which would be outrageous in my mind, but whatever. I came back to pick up the gift. I asked how much it was. I'll pause now for dramatic effect. $73. Homey say what? $73. In this economic climate. $73. For paper, a ribbon, and a topper. If you are going to charge me that kind of coin, shouldnt you like give a heads up. Or something? Anything? If you like to keep warm at night by burning money in the fireplace, by all means, come here. But if you are like the rest of us, I'd stay away.

I just needed someone to do the work. He reassured me over the phone that he could do it and my timeframe was not a problem. Later that day, I bring my materials and he again assures me he can do the work. I ask for a price estimate and he says he does not know and will call me the next day. The next day I call and he is out of the office. From that point on he became impossible to reach and when I went back in person, they pretended to not know who I was and they stole or got rid of my materials. They screwed me over so bad and for no reason. If they couldn't do the project or didn't want it, they could have just said that and I would have been on my way. Joseph is a thief and an incompetent liar and should not be trusted with any job. His employees are not given much ability to do anything on their own, making them just as incompetent as he is. From watching their engagements with other customers (none of whom seem happy or satisfied), this is a place you go last minute because none of the other print shops can take your order and you don't mind Joseph screwing you with inflated pricing, hidden product shorting, and other ways Joseph has figured out to cheat his customers. Just waiting in the front and watching them converse with their customers is a real eye awakening experience and I seriously don't understand how this business is still in operation.
