We wandered into the Candlestick after breakfast at Sunflower Caffe and right away I spotted a display of floating Sunflower candles. These are my Moms favorite flower so I knew I'd pick one of these up for her, she loves it! I browsed around for a bit and picked up one of their Reiki Energy Charged Love candles for myself, because gosh do I need it! and it's pink and it smells good :) fragranced with essential oils, patchouli, olive oil, rose, clove, dragons blood and lavender. Upon check out I also spotted the cutest hotel bell. It's not vintage or an antique but a pretty good recreation and I knew I needed it for the Bed and Breakfast I don't own or run but I figured I could ring it to call my son downstairs for dinner or something ;) Very cute store filled with a ton of candles and very sweet service from Jane who I chatted with while in here. Somehow we got on the subject of books, donating them, how we organize them after I asked about the nearby Walt tasting room. Don't miss this store if you're in town, it's awfully cute and the perfect little small business to pick up something nice for someone or yourself.

The store is a great place to buy gifts! I am a local and have come here for years. It's under new ownership and has more gifty and modern stock. There are still ample candle selections to choose from including unique options you don't see elsewhere. I went yesterday to get a cozy candle for a rainy day. Results pictured. Just what I needed! Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike!

I want to give this store a 5-Star review but I can't. We were there months ago and I purchased these beautiful hand blown glass lamps that you insert into a wine bottle. They were $66 but the display was beautiful and I thought it would be a great souvenir from our trip. Well, they don't fit into any wine bottles. None. They're too big. I've been trying to find the right bottle for months and finally gave up. I've reached out to Candlestick 4x over the last 3 weeks via phone and email with no response. Such a bummer to have great service while in the store but not after I've made my purchase.

My guy asked me what I wanted as a birthday present. (I already made off like a bandit on my birthday. He already took me on a full weekend getaway to Sonoma, a romantic dinner at Girl and the Fig, a hearty brunch the day after, bought me a bunch of chocolates and 3 bottles of wine.) Aside for a nice dinner, all l I really wanted was a nice fat candle or two. He was like "Candles?!!!" Me: "Yup, candles." And I am sure he was relieved when we found 'The Candlestick" at the Sonoma Plaza. It might just be another candlestore but the sign says it was established in 1957. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/0t9hTUIVH5zaJMkllimmVg?select=TeyDizGhGaqH5ikrfHjHAQ It is whimsical, new agey, classy and cozy at the same time. I don't remember sneezing for suffering from very strong smell that most candlestores are known for. So he made me choose my presents, sent me outside to pay for the stuff and handed me the bag. Sneaky-poo threw more stuff in there. So, in the end, I got a mixture of scented/unscented candles, pillars, votives, a wooden candle holder and even "make your own candle" kit. The staff was very helpful. Slightly pricey but then this is an independent store. The candles come in all shapes, sizes and very pretty. Here are the pics: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/0t9hTUIVH5zaJMkllimmVg?select=KGF8HTr5uiTzC4MFAgdJOQ http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/0t9hTUIVH5zaJMkllimmVg?select=f6VTpbP5UoWZXFutTygEbw So if you are a candle lover or just want to score some brownie points while in Sonoma, check out The Candlestick. Thanks, sweetie! Support it so it'll last until 2057 or even longer.

About a month after receiving the couch, I learned thru another local merchant that Harvest Home offers a 10% discount to locals. Well, I'm a local and did not receive the discount even though the store clerk took my delivery address, a local address. Shortly thereafter I visited the Harvest Home store intending to purchase 2 side chairs. I asked the clerk if Harvest Home did, in fact, offer a 10% locals discount. She said yes. So I asked why I hadn't gotten the discount on on couch I bought. The clerk's response was very unsatisfactory. Her shoulders sunk indicating to me that this issue had come up before. She said you have to ask for the discount at the time of purchase otherwise you don't get it. I reminded her that she took my address for delivery which was clearly a local address. I also asked how was I supposed to know there was a discount? She dug her heels in and kept saying she was sorry but there was nothing she could do because I didn't ask for the discount at the time of purchase. I told her how disappointed I was with her customer service. She cut me short and said she was sorry and gave me her quote for the 2 side chairs. I left in frustration and did not and will not buy the 2 chairs I was going to buy at approximately $3k. This is such poor customer service in my opinion. I missed out on this discount that apparently other locals get but I didn't because I didn't know about it to ask for it. Being a local, I am telling this story to all my friends. I will not be buying the 2 side chairs or anything else from this store.

It harkens to an old timey general store but with modern vibes and artisan curated pieces at down to earth prices. Seriously, the majority of prices match to that bullseye retail shop. One side is a general store with kitchen items, greeting cards, soaps, candles, snacks. jewelry, and women's accessories. The other side sells living room items... furniture, throws, pillows, home decor, small art pieces, and reproduction artwork. Oh I can't forget to tell you about the outdoor art sculptures which are displayed in the back yard. The sculptures are whimsical and artsy. They carry sofas and living room pieces. The furniture is of quality and comes with prices matching that quality. I enjoy shopping for the framed reproduction paintings and home decor. The price points range from $30 and upwards for the paintings.

Whimsical roadside attraction.
