After spending 120.00 I am extremely disappointed in these candles. All five have a sharp, acrid, smoky smell after burning between one-half to one hour. This smell diminishes and overpowers any throw these candles may produce. Also, based on the 5 I purchased I found scent descriptions inaccurate. At 24.00 each I find no value in these candles and consider them a waste of money. I cannot in good conscience recommend them. There are plenty of other candle companies out there! I ordered a couple of sampler packs, and while the smell is delightful, these candles set off the smoke alarm EVERY TIME they burn for more than an hour or so. I trim the wick super short, and it still ends up an inch long, mushroomed, and spewing soot and smoke. I went to the website to look at the reviews there to see if I was the only one, and funnily enough, they only show 5-star reviews, and I couldn't find anywhere on the site to actually submit a review there. read more

Very disappointed! The candles are beautiful and smell great! The problem is the wick. I constantly cut the wick down to 1/4 an inch, it constantly mushrooms and generate a great deal of soot. If you only use your candles for decorative purposes then yes these are the candles for you. I like to burn mine and the wick shouldn't look like this after 2 hours. read more

Love love love these candles! Recently placed an order with CBV on December 1st, it was shipped out on the 9th and I received it within 3 days. Of course, I was super excited as this was my first time ordering from them and I had heard so many great reviews. I purchased the following scents : Log Cabin, Breakfast in Vermont, Christmas in Who-Ville, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, Cold December Night and Gooey Pumpkin Butter Cake. They all smell just as described on the website and I cannot wait to try more! I also purchased a body lotion which was very soft and moisturizing without being greasy or leaving a nasty residue. CBV is hands-down the best candle and wax tart company. I've ordered multiple times and with every order you receive a free scent shot. Customer service is AWESOME. I emailed Victoria when my free SS was missing from an order and the next order I made, she added THREE. Victoria is always willing to accommodate new ideas and mix scents as well as come up with new ones. She even has scents based on popular perfumes and colognes. A few years after my first order, we were driving through Van and decided to stop by the store. They had recently moved properties and didn't have an actual store once we got there but they invited us in to look around the production facility and see how they made products and even let us take a peek at new products! They were all so so sweet and the product quality is out of this world. Nowhere else will you get a scent throw like this for your money. I always recommend trying scent shots before purchasing larger candles because then you can see what you like, as all noses are different and you may love something that you wouldn't think you'd like based on the description. Do not recommend Candles by Victoria. I rarely write a bad review but had to in this case. The candles are not at all like the descriptions on the website. Of the 10 scents ordered I could only use one. When I received my first order they sent me the wrong scent. On my second order I had weeks before it was scheduled to ship. Was told (in a very rude manner) I could not stop my shipment. This is not their policy. Horrible customer service. There are some really great candle companies out there. I never leave bad reviews because I find it is really circumstancial a lot of times, however, I purchased 7 candles from Victoria and feel truly scammed. The cost of the candles was unknowingly in USD, costing me OVER $260.00 once the transaction went through, but I decided that's nuts but helping a family during Covid is also important. Only to find an EXTRA charge of $73.64 through UPS that Victoria is having me cover instead of herself, at very least Victoria should have emailed me and let me know this was going to happen as I had emailed her directly after having placed the order. It just feels greedy and a home-based business should not be ran that way. I find this nuts because no where does she state extra charges for international shippings over and above what is already being shipped. I normally don't go out of my way to leave a negative review if I don't like something I just wouldn't purchase again, but I feel like this is a safety issue. I have always let my candles burn until they put themselves out when they're out of wax. I had a red velvet candle burning for less than 2 hours with a trimmed wick and it exploded and shot glass across my living room and burnt a hole in my countertop. I am grateful that my house didn't burn down and that my 8 month old child wasn't present as the glass shot everywhere. I sent a message on Instagram about what had occurred and she blamed me for not trimming a wick and leaving it burning too long (all false) and offered nothing. While it is not recommended to leave candles burning with low wax I feel it is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE that they explode when you do this. After digging further I see I am not the only one who has had this happen. FOR YOUR SAFETY DO NOT PURCHASE CANDLES FROM HERE. I ordered around 32 dollars worth of product based on online descriptions and YouTube reviews. I was beyond dissapointed with not only the scent but the quality of these products. Many of the scents ordered are absolutely nothing as described. With the angel food cake all I smell is cherry almond, which is not a bad scent but it's just not at all what is described. The vanilla velvet is listed as having buttery scent to it which just isn't true. It's a maple syrupy scent which is hard to stand. The second tart I burned normally for an hour during tv, then unplugged the burner. After it had completely cooled down I put the dish part of the burner in the freezer for about 15 minutes to allow the tart to pop out easily. The picture attatched shows the tart came out but it is covered in neon pink gooey dye which got everywhere and stained anything it touched! It was awful! When I contacted victoria with my dissatisfaction with the defective product as well as the poor scents, she wrote me a rude response in which she stated that the reason the dye separated from the wax was because I didn't burn the tart long enough. What? That makes no sense. Plus the picture shows that the tart has been completely burned and melted to the shape of the tart earners dish! Then she wrote, 'I'm not sure why you'd take out a half burned tart..' It was incredibly rude and ridiculous to blame for her products poor quality! Plus that reason didn't even make sense! After i wrote back letting her know i was appalled by her poor customer service and would spread the word about her products poor quality, she responded by saying the scents of the candles improve over time and offered to talk to me on the phone. No thanks. I had had enough with this company. The response I recieved was one of the rudest I interactions from any company I have ever experienced. Over a month later and the scents are still headache inducing and nothing as described. I buy a lot of candles and tarts- a lot. I spend way more than I should on scents. I have never in my life been so disappointed in a product. Listen, there's a reason candles by victoria doesn't offer returns or exchanges. She knows way too many people would be unhappy with the scent and quality of her products. A pretty description doesn't equal a pretty scent. Don't be fooled into paying high prices (and eight dollar shipping!!!) for a product that doesn't smell as described and is made in so poorly that anything it comes I to contact will be stained with cheap dye! After watching several YouTube Videos and Reviews I decided to try Candles by Victoria for my Holiday Scents/Candles this year. I committed to only 3 as being an international order had to pay quite a bit for shipping and duties. I purchased varying styles and scents for comparison/sampling. Shipping was quick and packaged very well. First off, these are beautiful looking candles. So much so you almost don't want to burn them, however..............my first candle after the first 5-10 minutes of burning began to spill over onto my counter-top, thankfully I was able to prevent damage etc by catching the problem early. This occurred as a result of the design. I continually had to supervise this candle and soak up excess wax as it burned down to a manageable level. The scent sadly was barely noticeable and I caulked that up to a poor choice. Candle number 2 was to wood wicked style candle. This also had little to no scent and it burned very quickly for a wood wicked candle. It burned straight down the center and there was so much excess wax left behind. The wood wick made a hissing sound rather than a crackling sound. Lastly the 3rd candle also barley there scent and burned down within a week. For the price tag I won't be buying again. Really wanted to love these candles as they are hyped up A LOT! I've got better makers/suppliers I can use locally. The grass is not always greener on the other side. I am almost 50 years old and have been burning candles,oils and tarts for MANY years. Normally, when a candle is done, it just goes out. Not Victoria's. I had not one, but TWO, blow up! Literally. It was quite a mess, and downright scary. I called her after the first one (A Big Bertha) blew, and she told me that it was MY FAULT. That I let the candle burn down too low. I stupidly gave the next one a shot, this time nearly burning down my bedroom. If you are going to burn these candles, I urge you to watch them VERY carefully. I received the 2 candles I purchased. I opened the box I was excited to smell them, so I lit the first candle and unwrapped the second and boom! The top of the cup had broken glass that went over the floor. As I cleaned that mess up I noticed the other candle had melted wax all over my counter. Let me start by saying that I used to be a fan of CBV. She was my very first wax vendor that I ever tried and after being part of her groups on Facebook for a long time and hearing her wax being talked up and praised, I was really excited to try her stuff. My very first order, I was super excited, but the "scent shots" were extremely, extremely hard. They would not melt at all in any of the warmers I have, tea light warmers. I would only use half of the scent shot and it still would not melt fully, there was always a ring of unmelted wax in the warmer. When I talked to Victoria about this, she said she was aware of the problem and was in the process of coming up with a softer wax formula, so I was really excited. When she released the softer wax formula, I placed an order and waited to get it. When I got the order and started to melt the scent shots they again had the ring of unmelted wax in the warmer. It was suggested to use a hot plate warmer, which I switched over to.. and still have the same exact problem. I have been very public about the wax not melting in her groups, but I have never been rude about it. Other customers have posted in her FB groups about the same problems, and I have commented and said that I have always had the same issues. Victoria has replied with and said that the reason it doesn't melt all the way is because I don't work with one of her warmers that she sells directly on her website only. I actually have one of the warmers she sells on her website, only I didn't buy it from her - I bought it from a website that she seems to get the warmers from herself (I'm guessing because she's stolen the pictures from this website to use on her own website) and the wax still does not melt. Recently, within the past week or two, another person posted in her FB group asking what type of warmer to use to melt the wax because she was getting an unmelted ring around her warmers too and I commented saying that I have always had that problem. Victoria insisted that the girl needed to buy one of her own warmers from her website and it would work just fine. I replied to the comment thread saying that I have one of those warmers and they still did not work. Victoria then completely removed me from the Facebook group page. When messaging the original girl who said she was having problems, she informed me that Victoria offered to send her one of her warmers to "make things right" I sent a FB message to VIctoria, asking why I was blocked from the group and why she has never offered any solution other than "Buy more of my stuff" to make her wax melt to me. I told her that I didn't find this good customer service at all. Victoria saw my private message and she immediately blocked me from Facebook. I was never rude to her, I was a good customer and have spent what I consider to be a lot of money on her products. She has refused to offer any solution to any problem about this that I have had, and instead of offering me the same customer service as another customer, she has blocked me. I don't expect free things, ever, that's not ever what I was going for... I was just expecting good customer service, and she definitely does not have that. I will never, ever again give this woman my hard earned money, and I have told all of my friends and family to avoid this company at all costs. read more
