It's a little difficult to write a fair review of a budget motel, because I remember the days when…read moreyou could still get a decent, basic room at a good price, and it seems that's simply too big an ask these days. Now, in multiple states, we keep encountering similar problems: run down, dirty rooms that feel unsafe. This motel did not feel unsafe--quite the opposite; it felt quite family friendly, and there were laughing kids enjoying the small pool near our room. There was a complimentary breakfast bar in the lobby that the kids were quite enjoying. The staff was cordial. The biggest issue we had with our room was that it reeked of dirty pool water and like it had been given only a cursory cleaning with a bleach rag or mop that had not been changed in forever, especially in the bathroom--and the towels we found upon arrival were still damp. Probably due to over-softened water, the water in the bathroom felt slimy. The bathroom floor and carpet in the room felt grimy, and there was gum ground into the carpet in one spot. We had to keep the bathroom door shut to keep the smell out of the room, which itself did not smell great. We would have gone into town and brought takeout back to eat, but the room was so dirty that we did not want to spend any more time in it than necessary. We did inform the staff of the situation, but the motel was fully booked, and we were only offered a can of room deodorizer as a solution. My guess would be that this is both a staffing and budget issue--housekeeping (I never saw any) is probably only given minimal and inadequate tools with which to clean. Upon checkout, we again mentioned the issue, and the desk clerk said that he'd make a note of it. He again said that they were fully booked, and apologized that no other room was available; however, I highly doubt that our room was the only one with this issue. A motel simply doesn't just forget to attend to a single room, and the smells and condition of our room were clearly one of long neglect. We were not expecting anything fancy, but basic cleanliness should be a given, not an extravagance, and to not be able to have a room we could make full use of is really not acceptable.

Such is the case with the Fairfield Inn & Suites, but it doesn't come without some flaws. Let's discuss. Right as I walk into my room, I am immediately impressed. So much so, that I whip out the ol' camera and start snapping away. The single king bed suite that I got was immaculate and spacious. Imagine my surprise to discover that there were, not one, but TWO televisions in the room; one in the bedroom portion of the room and the other right next to the work area. It all had a very professional feel to it. The two end tables in the living room type area came in very handy, too. I suspect the dual TV thing was due to the fact that it had a pull-out couch in the room. The service here is extremely cordial also. In fact, one of the cleaning ladies complimented me by saying, "Ah, so YOU'RE the clean gentleman that stays here!" I took that as a big compliment, because I realize she appreciated the fact that I don't come into hotel rooms and trash the place. I tend to keep all my used towels in one pile for them and leave the place generally de-cluttered. I figure the cleaning staff in most hotels have to deal with some pretty horrific stuff, so I try to keep it as convenient for them as I possible can. And, of course, no really fine hotel is complete without some type of complimentary breakfast (a legitimate one, that is), but there are a few flaws with this one. First, it could use a few more sides. They basically feature eggs, bacon or sausage, various breads and cereals. What would have been nice to see is some variant of starch, hashbrowns or potatoes. I know it can be done because I've seen less luxurious hotels pull it off. Second thing is...they could restock their food a bit more whenever it gets low. Just this morning as I go down to hopefully enjoy some scrambled eggs, they were out. They were almost out of bacon, too. The thing is it was like 9am and they never even bothered to restock the eggs or bacon. The breakfast bar closes at 10. I'm not even sure the lady running the bar ever checked to see how many were left, because I sat there for a good 40 minutes just to see if she was going to bring out more. No such luck. I'm also a little disappointed that if you happen to take advantage of their WiFi upgrade for higher speed access, it doesn't even come close. I did a speed check and there is literally no discernable difference between the high speed package versus the complimentary one they provide. Deceiving. Ah well. No place is perfect; not even the 5 star ones. Still, this was a stellar stay which I would easily repeat. In fact, I just signed up for a Marriott rewards program which I hope to take advantage of real soon. I'm kind of kicking myself for not setting one up a long time ago, but I hardly get to travel as much as I'd like to these days. Far as I'm concerned, Fairfield Inn & Suites is 4 comfy king sized beds out of 5 worthy!

The room was comfortable and the cleanliness of the entire area was consistently well maintained. The most undervalued asset I observed and experienced was the collective commitment of the staff to creating an enjoyable experience for guests. The greetings upon arrival did not stop on the first day; they remained intentional and welcoming each time we returned from class or events. It became a genuine wellness check on our mental health. Their kindness never grew old or appeared insincere. The phrase, "Can I help you?" resonated throughout the stay as a sincere expression of support and recognition that they could provide assistance in areas where we may have lacked resources or familiarity. Notably, there were several occasions when I asked Ms. Beta for assistance with resources, whether internally accessible or requiring additional external coordination, and she consistently went out of her way to help. Ms. Beta and the entire staff made the 32 days away from home feel safe, welcoming, and meaningful. I left with lasting appreciation for the helpful acknowledgements, the sense of security, and the genuine friendships formed with members of your staff who truly took the time to know us and understand our routines. Thank you for hiring talented individuals who made this experience memorable and deeply appreciated.

My stay was comfortable. At all times all staff members were attentive and friendly. The hotel facility has been beautifully renovated, and the furniture is new. I don't know since when this change happened but it is definitely much different and better looking than previous posted pictures through yelp. I did hear the renovations have not yet happened in all the buildings but on most. In the room I had four pillows, a choice of feather or cotton and both along with the bed were very comfortable. Cleaning happens once per week and you can request any extras from the front desk as needed. The complementary office area is great, I was able to login several times and print as many documents as I needed. Water always hot, TV (not smart) with limited channel options) wifi pretty good except for the evening when everyone is using it. Washer/dryer in good conditions and at no extra charge. No issues with Ice Machine nor bugs. Hallways do smell like pizza but that's because most people who stay here order food in the afternoons and leave the trash on the hallways til it gets picked up. Great breakfast area with TVs. The complementary breakfast depending on the day gives you a combination of any of the following: bacon or sausage. Omelette or eggs, milk, juice, muffins, granola bars, fruits, coffee, tea, oatmeal, raisins and pecans. Some complaints: Room AC is VERY loud and if I turned it off to sleep I would hear doors and rooms around me so I ended up sleeping with earplugs. The hotel gym is tiny, it has two treadmills, one elliptical that doesn't turn on and one stationary bike and its very hot in there. So, If you are serious about working out just walk across the street to one of the post gym's they open at 5am. (You will need your CAC card) Based on previous reviews and posted pictures I see the difference and effort to make this hotel a positive experience for all training in Fort Rucker.

The room costed us double what they quoted on the phone. the office had some weird smell. The manager that checked us in arrived at the front desk wearing a wifebeater and gave us dirty looks. The sign claimed free HBO, there were no real cable or satellite channels at all- seemed like only like 6 channels, most of them featured religious programming. The TV was pretty small, and really old to boot. The pool was green- we didn't even go near it. The next morning, we left the room to go get some breakfast, we were not gone for even half an hour, maybe 20 minutes tops- and we returned to catch the "cleaning lady" AKA the owners wife RED HANDED in our room, apparently looking for things to steal. She went through everything, including the mini-fridge. Of course we didn't leave anything valuable behind. she claimed she heard water running and went in there to turn it off, then she said she thought we had already checked out, and that's why she turned off the A/C. Furthermore, the mattress had stains on it, and the pillows sucked so bad we had to use the cushions from the couch. I guess the plus side is- the shower had nice hot water, and amazing water pressure. The A/C was nice and cold, and they had an ice machine.

Besides night clerk when we checked in we had to ring bell to get help but twice no help came! It took multiple calls. First night microwave broke. It Was never replaced, no one ever came by. Second day I left trash & dirty towels outside when we left for the day. Both were still there when we got back. Took them downstairs. Clerk told me wait a minute, finally came up to front & took towels. Again I asked about microwave & skillet. Clerk told me she didn't know how to fix a microwave. Told her what night clerk said, got a shrug. She did find a skillet & brought up coffee I asked for (we had to go down everyday to get coffee. She was also at desk when we checked out, very pleasant. My family booked two rooms both were supposed to have queen sized beds in both. There were 5 of us in the party. When we checked in and got the keys, we got to the first room and only found one King bed. We went into the second room(the door was cracked open), but there was only one bed in that room also. My dad goes back downstairs to find out the queen rooms were booked and sold out, they offered to give us our money back so we can book elsewhere. The other option was to get another king room for $100 a night. Mind you, it was a busy weekend in Enterprise, we had been on the road all day, and was there for a funeral. We decided to make it work. I went to inspect the other room and saw that someone had just been in there, there was a used washcloth on the top of the shower head and the room wasn't in good condition. My dad goes back downstairs, they offer to move us to another room, okay fine! My mom was on the phone with corporate just to find out it showed that our reservations had been changed by the hotel and nobody notified us of the change! We have proof that we booked two queen rooms! The hotel room was decent, but I did a deep cleaning before we utilized anything. The bed, shower, everything! We decided to make it work since there was three of us in a room. We went downstairs to ask for extra bedding so someone can utilize the recliner chair. We got that! We needed new towels since we didn't see anyone to bring fresh ones. My grandmother asked the front desk and she tells us that she will bring them to us because she has to swap out our old ones. I asked her before going upstairs if she needed us to bring them down, she didn't reply. About 30 mins passed and my grandmother goes downstairs and she tells my grandmother she didn't say she was bringing anything up. So my grandmother had to take the towels downstairs cause Lazy ma'am wouldn't come upstairs(wish I knew her name)! Either way, I wouldn't stay here again! Nothing is up to date, even the elevator is outdated for inspection! There were bugs(not sure what kind but we killed it). The amount of customer service that they provided to us was horrible and of course we had to share our experience!
