There is fresh baked scones as well as beverages in the Frig.. We stayed in the Sadie's Room on the 1st floor which was nice. It was clean and relatively quiet. The breakfast was very good. Negatives: One of the things that is lacking in this B&B (and many other B&B's, hotels) is suitcase holders. The Hinson House seems to have only 2 for the entire B&B. Our room had only one but luckily we were the only guests that evening, so we were able to get the other one. The B&B is located on one of the main drags through town. Vehicles go by relatively fast and can be dangerous when pulling out if one doesn't exercise caution. It was a delight talking with David and Olivia. If traveling through this part of Florida, we definitely will be staying here again.

Let's face it: when it comes to Marriott owned hotels, it's almost always proceeded with the…read morepresumption of prestigious excellence, am I right? Such is the case with the Fairfield Inn & Suites, but it doesn't come without some flaws. Let's discuss. Right as I walk into my room, I am immediately impressed. So much so, that I whip out the ol' camera and start snapping away. The single king bed suite that I got was immaculate and spacious. Imagine my surprise to discover that there were, not one, but TWO televisions in the room; one in the bedroom portion of the room and the other right next to the work area. It all had a very professional feel to it. The two end tables in the living room type area came in very handy, too. I suspect the dual TV thing was due to the fact that it had a pull-out couch in the room. The service here is extremely cordial also. In fact, one of the cleaning ladies complimented me by saying, "Ah, so YOU'RE the clean gentleman that stays here!" I took that as a big compliment, because I realize she appreciated the fact that I don't come into hotel rooms and trash the place. I tend to keep all my used towels in one pile for them and leave the place generally de-cluttered. I figure the cleaning staff in most hotels have to deal with some pretty horrific stuff, so I try to keep it as convenient for them as I possible can. And, of course, no really fine hotel is complete without some type of complimentary breakfast (a legitimate one, that is), but there are a few flaws with this one. First, it could use a few more sides. They basically feature eggs, bacon or sausage, various breads and cereals. What would have been nice to see is some variant of starch, hashbrowns or potatoes. I know it can be done because I've seen less luxurious hotels pull it off. Second thing is...they could restock their food a bit more whenever it gets low. Just this morning as I go down to hopefully enjoy some scrambled eggs, they were out. They were almost out of bacon, too. The thing is it was like 9am and they never even bothered to restock the eggs or bacon. The breakfast bar closes at 10. I'm not even sure the lady running the bar ever checked to see how many were left, because I sat there for a good 40 minutes just to see if she was going to bring out more. No such luck. I'm also a little disappointed that if you happen to take advantage of their WiFi upgrade for higher speed access, it doesn't even come close. I did a speed check and there is literally no discernable difference between the high speed package versus the complimentary one they provide. Deceiving. Ah well. No place is perfect; not even the 5 star ones. Still, this was a stellar stay which I would easily repeat. In fact, I just signed up for a Marriott rewards program which I hope to take advantage of real soon. I'm kind of kicking myself for not setting one up a long time ago, but I hardly get to travel as much as I'd like to these days. Far as I'm concerned, Fairfield Inn & Suites is 4 comfy king sized beds out of 5 worthy!

We were greeted by the very nice owner Karen Cail. She was instantly welcoming and kind. Walking into the B&B was like stepping into a cozy, welcoming hug. The place is stunning--it was thoughtfully decorated with charming and simple details. I loved the high ceilings and feelings of open space. Our room "The Eufaula Suite" was an absolute dream: spotlessly clean, with a bed so comfortable I didn't want to get up! The attention to detail was spot on. It felt warm and cozy, light and airy. Our suite also had a nice size outdoor balcony with a café table and chairs. But the stunner was the giant master bathroom which was cavernous. This was my kind of suite!!! The beautiful claw bathtub got a lot of use as the owner provided us with wonderful, relaxing bath salts. It also had a large walk in shower. Two large vanity's with sinks on either side of the bathroom were perfect for me and my husband. There was tons of shelving storage and a large closet in the bathroom as well, plenty of space for clothes. Most importantly the entire B&B was spotlessly clean with no unfavorable smells. It actually smelled like autumn and baked cookies. The breakfasts? Pure magic! The host took the time to chat with everyone, answering any questions, accommodating any request with easy kindness and effort. Each breakfast was prepared with love and care, perfectly seasoned and presented. During the daytime, she would bake the most delicious cookies! We enjoyed sitting in the common room as well as on the large outside porch. So much easy ambience, not overdone, no sensory overload with too much décor. I found the overall décor to be simple and very tasteful. The Eufaula House isn't just a place to stay--it's a memory we will cherish forever. The hosts' warmth, the incredible food, and the homey vibe made this getaway one for the books. I highly recommend staying in the Eufaula Suite for the ultimate experience in B&B luxury.

Spirits with spirits... Since the 1920s, The DeFuniak Hotel was known to have a haunted suite. Many guests have reported that Room 8 is very active. Known as the "Aviary Room," both housekeeping and guests have reported witnessing the ghosts of two children. Some have claimed to hear the children singing nursery rhymes in the middle of the night. You may also often find toys that are left for them soaking wet or mysteriously placed under the bed upon waking. Some think that their mother drowned the two children in the bathroom. The bed had clean sheets (other than the bugs) and the bed had been freshly made - but otherwise, I was afraid to touch anything. Both the shower and sink had debris, trash, and other patrons' hair in it. I didn't get a pic of the sink but it had the same hair in it. The bed had someone's used contact lens on it, right by the pillow area. There were live bugs in the bed. See photos. The bug in my photo was there on my pillow when I woke up the next morning. After I jumped up and shook the pillow - it ran just under the pillow area - that's what you see in the pic. If these things hadn't been taken care of, I can't trust anything else is clean, so I would definitely not stay there again. My stay was about a month ago.
