    Roach on the wall
    Jeff P.

Garbage slum hotel. They misbooked my room to a single queen with a family of four and refused to fix it, and blamed me for booking the wrong room over the phone with them. The room smells like urine. I've spotted three roaches crawling on the walls. The coffee pot in the room doesn't fit the coffee machine so it spilled coffee everywhere as it was brewing. It's an "extended stay" hotel which translates into no room service, you have to carry your dirty towels to the front desk for new ones. Disgusting, and way overpriced for what it is. When I checked out early the manger heard my complaints and was nice and understanding. She said she would address the issues, and took half off the bill. Splurge the extra 20 bucks a night and stay at the adjacent Marriott.

Although I had previously stayed here three years ago and gave 5 stars this experience was by far the worst ever. I returned for a one night stay and this facility has changed so much. It was filthy and actually a bit on the creepy side. To start the chair in the room was totally worn and ripped, which means it's unable to be cleaned which is so disgusting. There was black mold in the bathroom all over the walls and the tub which is a health hazard. The facets were so dirty and the entire room disgusting. I complained to the staff, who were so kind as I understand it is not their fault and Coorperate needs to step up. Thank goodness I brought my own sheet as I was petrified to lay on the bed! They took me to another room and comped my stay here for the one night I was here, which was very kind. The TV didn't work no channels and the WiFi was horrible. Out the window I saw a van with a homeless couple living in the van in the parking lot. This place is so bad I am shocked. I do thank their staff who were very kind and considerate. I will never return and there is another hotel very close that is beautiful and clean. This hotel is a health hazard.

We stayed here years ago and it was acceptable but last night after trying two rooms, we checked out and went to Hampton. Both bathrooms were dirty (urine on toilets, hair etc...) surfaces throughout the rooms had not been wiped and were covered in sticky yuck. Floors looked as though they are never swept or mopped. Doors dirty. The front desk staff was the only saving grace. Both employees (nighttime) did what they could but the management that allows the hotel to remain in this shape is doing the establishment a grave disservice. Would never stay again. I took pictures and will be forwarding to their corporate office.

Large bathroom mirror held in place with duct tape and very small screws - the entire thing fell to the floor while we were sleeping

I absolutely would not recommend staying at this hotel. A large bathroom mirror fell to the floor in our room in the middle of the night. Thankfully, my two smallest children were in bed at the time, otherwise, they could have been horribly injured. After reporting it to the front desk upon check out, nothing was done to address the issue with us. After making two phone calls over the course of two weeks and speaking to different managers each time, I was finally able to talk to Sherri, the general manager, after a third call yet another week later. Sherri was very unpleasant to deal with and was completely unapologetic concerning the safety issue we were addressing. After checking with the owner, she assured me they would do absolutely NOTHING for us! This was most definitely a safety issue. It is obvious in the pictures I took of the mirror and wall that this mirror had been installed with screws that were much too small to support its weight. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. The customer service of their managers is absolutely disappointing and I would not be confident that their rooms are safe. Aside from the safety issues, the lobby smells heavily of smoke when you walk in. It definitely looks like renovations have merely covered over health/safety hazards rather than truly making this hotel safe and clean. Stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Enterprise, AL or get an Airbnb. Avoid this Candlewood Inn & Suites!

Horrible housekeeping combined with a dishonest manager (if they can be reached at all) make this a spot to avoid.

This is an extended stay property that has very friendly employees and after spending several weeks there they treat you like family.

They have a great menu with options, to include a children's menu; indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the water; and a full service bar. We typically go there on Friday's for their Prime Rib dinner; and have also enjoyed the Texas Style BBQ plates on Saturdays - with the buffet style option on Wednesdays being a hit too. We've not been to the Sunday Brunch buffet - but have heard it is awesome. On the menu for us this past Friday were the Prime Rib dinners with potatoes and fresh asparagus; the Blackened Shrimp Kabobs with Mushroom Risotto and fresh vegetables, and the Southwest Chop Salad. The Prime Rib portion is generous and has a slight smoked taste, fits right in with the fresh horseradish sauce. The Shrimp Kabobs are two long skewers of Gulf Coast shrimp with a seasoned grill taste. On other occasions, we tried and recommend the Chicken Francese, a large chicken breast cooked to perfection in a lightly cream sauce on a bed of angel hair pasta and fresh vegetables; or the Skirt Steak with Chimichurri gently dusted across the top; or a lunch time Burger with Fries. Hard to imagine going to a golf course to eat, but at Tartan Pines it does have a two-in-one setting. The Pro Shop and golf on one side; and the restaurant / bar on the other side. Membership not required for either and open to the public. Pay them a visit and sit back and enjoy the view, sip a Classic Old Fashion, a glass of wine or refreshing Mixed Cocktail - even a cold draft beer while you wait for your food. Life does not get much better.

Such is the case with the Fairfield Inn & Suites, but it doesn't come without some flaws. Let's discuss. Right as I walk into my room, I am immediately impressed. So much so, that I whip out the ol' camera and start snapping away. The single king bed suite that I got was immaculate and spacious. Imagine my surprise to discover that there were, not one, but TWO televisions in the room; one in the bedroom portion of the room and the other right next to the work area. It all had a very professional feel to it. The two end tables in the living room type area came in very handy, too. I suspect the dual TV thing was due to the fact that it had a pull-out couch in the room. The service here is extremely cordial also. In fact, one of the cleaning ladies complimented me by saying, "Ah, so YOU'RE the clean gentleman that stays here!" I took that as a big compliment, because I realize she appreciated the fact that I don't come into hotel rooms and trash the place. I tend to keep all my used towels in one pile for them and leave the place generally de-cluttered. I figure the cleaning staff in most hotels have to deal with some pretty horrific stuff, so I try to keep it as convenient for them as I possible can. And, of course, no really fine hotel is complete without some type of complimentary breakfast (a legitimate one, that is), but there are a few flaws with this one. First, it could use a few more sides. They basically feature eggs, bacon or sausage, various breads and cereals. What would have been nice to see is some variant of starch, hashbrowns or potatoes. I know it can be done because I've seen less luxurious hotels pull it off. Second thing is...they could restock their food a bit more whenever it gets low. Just this morning as I go down to hopefully enjoy some scrambled eggs, they were out. They were almost out of bacon, too. The thing is it was like 9am and they never even bothered to restock the eggs or bacon. The breakfast bar closes at 10. I'm not even sure the lady running the bar ever checked to see how many were left, because I sat there for a good 40 minutes just to see if she was going to bring out more. No such luck. I'm also a little disappointed that if you happen to take advantage of their WiFi upgrade for higher speed access, it doesn't even come close. I did a speed check and there is literally no discernable difference between the high speed package versus the complimentary one they provide. Deceiving. Ah well. No place is perfect; not even the 5 star ones. Still, this was a stellar stay which I would easily repeat. In fact, I just signed up for a Marriott rewards program which I hope to take advantage of real soon. I'm kind of kicking myself for not setting one up a long time ago, but I hardly get to travel as much as I'd like to these days. Far as I'm concerned, Fairfield Inn & Suites is 4 comfy king sized beds out of 5 worthy!
