    Candlelight: A Tribute to Adele
    Courtney O.

My mom and I checked out a Tribute to Adele on Saturday night and it was a first for the both of us! We had also never been to the Railroad Museum - which was also very cool! The inside was dark and only lit by candlelight which was so nice and inviting. We sat in section C, which is the last section, but because the string quartet is on a raised stage, we were still able to see them which was nice. The show lasted an hour which I think was the perfect amount of time. I liked how each musician spoke - they gave information on Adele, plus her songs and which ones were their favorites before they performed. It just felt very personal and intimate. We weren't able to take photos or videos until the last song -- I think it would ruin the mood for everyone if phones were allowed for the whole thing, so I appreciated that. You can also pay extra ahead of time to have your photo taken by the raised stage before the show starts as well. They do not offer food or drinks inside the museum, but being as it is only an hour, you don't really notice. We had a great time, and I am already looking up another concert to attend!

I recently attended the Candlelight Concert: Best of Video Games at the California State Railroad Museum, it was an absolutely beautiful and melodic experience. The atmosphere, illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight, created the perfect setting to enjoy the music performed by the talented Listeso String Quartet. The concert began promptly at 7 PM, with doors opening at 6 PM. I arrived around 5:40 PM, just before the doors opened, and was able to snag a seat front row and center. I purchased a ticket for Section A for $60, where seating was first-come, first-served. This ensured a great view, and being so close to the musicians made the evening feel even more special. The musicians were not only incredibly skilled but also charming and amusing, adding delightful personality to the performance. Overall, I enjoyed every second of the concert and left with a sense of awe at the beauty and serenity of the experience. I will say, more candles should be placed around all of the chairs to give everyone a nice experience since I bet the view towards the back is not as beautiful as the front. Though I plan to attend more Candlelight concerts in the future! (Fyi no food or drink is allowed or sold at the venue for the respect of the musicians so make sure to grab a bite before the show as it lasts 1hr. There is also no recording until the final set)

This was hands down one of the of the best gifts we have given my Mom for her Birthday. She was surprised by the venue - California Railroad Museum in Old Sac. She had no clue what she going there for at night, she was very surprised! It was a beautiful night, an intimate experience and the quartet played wonderfully, soulfully and gently. It was Neo Soul and R&B. The entertainment and ambiance was amazing with all the candles and music. The staff is friendly and you can bring in your own water bottle. It is a truly unique experience, it's a must try the choices for different types of music is great too. Next time we will try Coldplay and Imagine Dragons.

Not exactly what expected as there was only a 4 string quartet performing but the ambiance and music were charming. The performance as a whole would have greatly benefited if a pianist was included for a more powerful performance. Organization and help were good and helpful. The venue itself held about 200 people. This is a nice way to support performing arts and get away from the mundane.

Candlelight Concerts presented by Fever is a fun experience in a gently candlelit setting. There are multiple concerts available for the Sacramento area, featuring tributes to Coldplay, Adele, Imagine Dragons, Taylor Swift, Queen, Classic Rock, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and more. They're also held at different venues around the city, performed by the Listeso String Quartet or similar ensembles. I attended The Best of Joe Hisaishi Candlelight Concert on 2/8/24 at the Railroad Museum in Old Sac. If you're not familiar, Joe Hisaishi has written scores for all but one of Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli animated films. Either in the Fever app or via e-mail, you could access your tickets (QR codes) to validate/scan for entry. Follow the candles through to the seating area and stage, three zones. Since this was an evening event after normal museum hours, it was pretty neat to see the candlelit glow in the main Museum Roundhouse area surrounded by the restored locomotives and cars. The cello player even commented on how fitting the venue was since most of Miyazaki's Ghibli films are set in post-industrial eras. Folding chairs were set up, and both the Fever and museum staff were helpful. The Listeso String Quartet consisted of two violins, a viola, and [violon]cello. It was very intimate, and not as much wow factor as say a full symphony orchestra, of course, but the cozy glow still set the mood and you could imagine scenes from the films as the stripped-down scores played. The tentative program was listed on the event page, and they stuck to it except for two pieces (Wind Rises, and Kaguya). They did do an encore at the end though. In total a 65-minute performance with no intermission. Before each piece, one of the performers introduced the song with a few words on what the film is about. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - Opening Theme Laputa: Castle in the Sky - Kimi wo Nosete (Carrying You) My Neighbour Totoro - Kaze no Toori Michi (Path of the Wind) My Neighbour Totoro - Tonari no Totoro (Main Theme) Kiki's Delivery Service - Umi no Mieru Machi (A Town with an Ocean View) Kiki's Delivery Service - Tabidachi (Journey) Princess Mononoke - Main Theme Spirited Away - Inochi no Namae (Name of Life) Spirited Away - Chihiro's Waltz Ponyo - Gake no Ue no Ponyo (Ponyo on the Cliff) Kikujiro - Summer *Non-Ghibli, live-action film Howl's Moving Castle - Merry Go Round of Life No flash photography or recordings except after the announcement of the last song of the night. I wasn't able to get a solo photo before the house lights came back up, but I did get their 5-minute Howl's Moving Castle "Merry Go Round of Life" captured on video. Tips go directly to the musicians. The other one that caught my eye coming up soon is the Best of Hans Zimmer, including music from Inception, Lion King, Madagascar, Dunkirk, The Pacific, The Dark Knight, Wonder Woman, Gladiator, Interstellar, Dune, Sherlock Holmes, and Pirates of the Caribbean. https://feverup.com/en/sacramento/candlelight #candlelightconcerts @candlelight.concerts

Arrived early an hour prior to the show.

My wife surprised us with a visit to the Candlelight Concert at the Old Railroad Museum, in Old Sacramento. The theme was Halloween music from classical, tv themes, and movies. I won't give away what they played, but it was definitely a fun show. I don't know if the musicians are the same as I have heard there are different themes. The night we visited there was a quartet of string musicians. They were all amazing. There is nothing better than listening to live music and these guys were no exception. I would argue on the better side of my live music experience. What helps with this experience is of course the venue. We have been to the museum for years when the kiddo was growing up. Being able to walk around when closed and the change of lighting really made the place look different. The main train room was the location of the concert, which seemed obvious if you hadn't been there before. Of course everything was lit by (faux) candles which really created a wonderful atmosphere. It was intimate with an audience that was not overwhelming. It really had a personal feel to it. I really enjoyed that. On our visit the concert was just about an hour, which is a great balance for me. The seats are just regular folding chairs, so an hour is my limit. Regardless of the time, better seats would be nice. Also, keeping this hour is a great way to include this on you nightly plans and still have time for dinner before or after the show. I wish I could provide more photos, but it's hard to get really good photos while respecting the venue and the musicians. I have provided a photo prior to the concert, so you can see how intimate this show is. We arrived early to walk the museum, but it does fill up! Plan accordingly in regard to purchasing your tickets and arriving on time for the show. The seats are first come first serve per seating group (A, B, C, etc.). Overall, I would recommend this for anyone who would appreciate classical string music.

This was my first time going to one of these concerts. It was so magical the music takes to you into the dream world. My date and I saw the Rings of the Dragon with music from Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. Fully embraced the experience. There was a person getting taken away by EMS in the beginning on the show but the red flashing lights wasn't a burden, it took the ambiance further into the fires of Mordor and definitely was a once in a lifetime experience. We had a blast and will definitely be going back to the show to see more.

The two times I went I was there early so I was able to park close. Try to avoid going to a concert during or after the State Fair. The Backyard is near the stables where they keep the livestock during the fair, which means there are a LOT of flies when the fair is going on. I've only been to two daytime shows (Sad Summer and Summer School Tour) so I can't say what it's like to to go a regular nighttime concert. The shows I went to were standing room only, and they were on very hot days. I will say the venue did an excellent job keeping everyone cool and hydrated. For Sad Summer it was over 110 degrees, they had setup a white tent, had misters, plenty of free water and a few large trash cans filled with water so you could wet a cooling rag (they also provided new towels for those who didn't bring one). They let you bring in one empty water bottle or a sealed one. You were allowed to bring in sunscreen, but it had to be lotion, it couldn't be aerosol. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's definitely not my favorite venue but it is new, so there may be some improvements.

You can tell the kitchen really knows what they're doing. The only issue we experienced was with our server's understanding of the menu. When she explained the specials, the description wasn't even close to what was actually served. For example, she described one dish as a half chicken with tomatoes, cucumbers, and balsamic, but when it arrived it didn't include any of those things. We also asked several questions about the menu and ingredients, and she seemed pretty confused and wasn't able to give clear answers. I normally don't like leaving anything negative in a review because the food truly was fantastic. My only suggestion would be for the staff to become a little more familiar with the menu and the specials so they can confidently explain dishes to guests. Overall, incredible food, but a little more menu training for the staff would make the experience even better. I would definitely come back for the food.
