Due to the demolition required to build the stairs, we asked if they could begin that process when we left for an 8 day vacation in January. He agreed and after meetings to tighten up the design and engage his plumber we trusted our home to Gage and his team and left. Before we left he told us he not only planned on building the stairs but basically completing the entire job! While we were gone we got consistent updates, pictures and videos of the progress. When we got back the job was 99% complete. He gave us time to figure out if there were any adjustments to make and took care of our requests. They do good work on an aggressive schedule. We highly recommend.

We agreed on a realistic budget, and Gage scheduled the work around our availability. His team took great care during the repair, shoring up structures and making improvements to the deck's structural integrity, all within the agreed-to budget and timeline. We are happy with the repaired deck; it's much more solid and secure. We highly recommend Gage and KCM and look forward to future projects with them.

For the small jobs I've tried doing them myself, but a strong will isn't enough sometimes. In comes Right-Way Handyman! Chris just finished helping me do one of my toughest jobs, opening a hatch in our hardwood floor and removing 300sqft of rat poop find insulation, in preparation for a full home spray insulation project. His expertise and confidence are strong points, suggesting the right safety equipment, and proper disposal technique. I'm scared to admit that Chris's great job ethic and fair prices will keep him busier and busier, which means harder for me to book him! But he really is a hidden gem in this world of hard to reach contractors and I can't wait for our next project together.

Jamie from Custom Concrete of Maine was definitely the right person for the job. He replied to my online inquiry and came to the house to check out the project within 24 hrs. He gave me a detailed cost estimate before he even left the house. The next day, he worked a 10+ hr day and completed the project. He communicated clearly with me about the extent of the work; he told me when to expect him at the house; and he gave me project updates along the way. Based on my experience with other concrete contractors in the area, Jamie's rates are very reasonable. In the end I was happy with the repaired floor. He's one of the good ones and I wouldn't hesitate to work with him again!

After a meeting with my mother, and clear explanations of what we needed and her mobility issues, we got a quote from Cam at Careful Cut. After a few days of working on the project, Cam told my mother the work was done. Being a trusting person, my mom paid him. The work was not done. There was a large gap between the house and the railing (unlike the railing that was replaced) which was a major safety hazard for an elderly person. See picture. The railing that was there was splintery and not sanded. He also missed a number of spots when painting. We contacted him and asked him to complete the work. At first he said he would "see what he could do about the railing and that the door was in the way". Note that the door was only in the way because he forgot to account for door opening when building the steps. When, a few days later, we asked him again when he could finish the job , he sent a rude message then ghosted us. We had to hire someone else to finish the work. Do not hire Cam at careful cut carpentry
