When I first opened the door I was impressed by the size of the room, huge is all I can say. The bed was warm and cozy, buy was I tired after a long day. The suite consisted of a living room, bed room and bathroom. Even the bathroom was huge. In the morning I was greeted by a beautiful picturesque view of the falls. The Inn also provided a Continental Breakfast, and the best thing ever for a morning, a Kureg coffee maker with a selection of various coffees. The host was amazing, showing us the rooms and describing anything we might need to know. The place is Amazing and I suggest a stay when ever you're in the area. Sorry, some of the photos are blurry because I had a screen on the window. I forgot to mention that the bathroom had a Jacuzzi.

The second day was less than that as the cereal was never added to the options and there was no one around to make coffee. After the first night, I wanted a new washcloth. There was none in the room and no one to ask. The bed was well worn and the room was not very clean. I cannot recommend this place.

For ease of example, let's say you really want french fries. Once you run out to the diner (or local fast food joint) and FINALLY get them in your hands they're lukewarm -- and a little under-salted. Not perfect, but OK. Your craving is satisfied, nothing extraordinary ... but satisfied none the less. When I think about my experience at Hayden Creek I get that type of feeling. The Inn is located 15 minutes north of Cooperstown, in rural area. It's quiet, and the distance allowed us an opportunity to drive along the lake and take in the beautiful fall views. Accommodations are not luxurious, but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the appearance of Hayden Creek. Sure, it could use fresh paint here and there but it's quite clean and curious. The decor is artsy, with items collected from all around the world. Word of caution - the walls are THIN. The first night there we heard other patrons laughing outside and smoking till 1 in the morning. I didn't complain, even if I am a light sleeper (I understand people are on vacation too), but the owner came by and apologized the next morning, which was kind. It didn't happen again but unfortunately, I didn't sleep well the following night either ... the fire alarm kept beeping! We were resetting it every hour. Why is this in a customer's room? I don't understand. When I brought it up I got a meek sorry and shrug. Again, not really his fault but that alarm console had no place in our room. The owner is kind and hospitable, but not especially chatty. From what I can tell from the trip advisor reviews I read, this really puts people off. As for me personally, I don't mind at all. The temperature dropped dramatically the second day we were there and we found a little heater set on low in the room when we came back in the afternoon. That was a nice little touch that made us feel welcome. I was however disappointed that they did not have bikes to loan out (as they state on the website). I was really looking forward to a long bike ride on my first day up there (before it got coooold). The area is beautiful and scenic and I would have rather been experiencing it outside than from the passenger seat of a Subaru. Breakfast was suitable and healthy but wasn't exactly a huge spread. Probably our fault since we slept in both days. Eggs were cooked to order. The breakfast area was a large back room with a view of a their lovely sprawling backyard and creek. Had the weather been warmer, I would have wholeheartedly enjoyed ending the night with a glass of wine under the canopy next to creek. For the price, Hayden Creek isn't a bad place to stay. It will satisfy your B&B craving, or perhaps just be a stop on a bigger journey somewhere else. Don't expect grand flattery or luxury, but instead a straightforward spot to hopefully catch some ZZZ's when you're enjoying Cooperstown.

Upon driving in, we were almost instantly met by Judith who welcomed us and led us into the Grist Mill to register. Now I'll admit the Grist Mill is old and shadowy and certainly somewhat creepy inside, especially the use of a mannequin is a flower filled bathtub, and if I had to sleep in there I'd keep a flashlight on, but the oddness grows on you. After check in, Judith's husband Ron got hold of our ear, and boy can he talk! He's full of wonderful stories, but if you and your spouse don't have some kind of signal to give each other to get away, you'll be with him for an hour. Judith led us to our room, which is in the Mill house. The place is decorated in country style, and feels welcoming and comfortable. Beware the extremely steep staircases to the second floor. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub which had the most powerful jets I've ever experienced. Back inside the Mill House kitchen, it's loaded with too much included food to possibly be consumed in one stay. Phenomenal Oreo truffle torte which will sit in your stomach like a log, blueberry and banana breads, and a cookie like a whoopee pie. Also a cooler with soda, water and V-8. And that doesn't even include the ice cream bar with all the toppings. The grounds are filled with shade gardens and the waterfall itself. Judith said we could take off our shoes and walk in the water, but the rocks were moss covered and looked too slippery. Overall just very peaceful outside and no sounds but the running water. We slept well on the comfortable bed, and went to the kitchen for breakfast. Breakfast is self serve, but the fridge is stocked with eggs, every breakfast bread product you can imagine, yogurts, juices, fruit, along with all the treats I mentioned earlier. Also a regular coffee maker and an espresso maker. I practically had to crawl out of there. About an hour from Colonie, I'd wholeheartedly recommend a stay there.

Wow!!! I can't put into words how amazing this place is. We've been to a lot of bed and breakfasts…read more quite a few that were :high end" but nothing compared to this magnificent place. There were a few rooms in the bed and breakfast itself but we chose to to stay in the cottage by the B&B "The Hog and Haus" which at one point in time housed pigs. This cottage is right next to a gorge that you can hear very clearly from inside the cottage and it lulls you to sleep. The cottage is rustic yet has all the amenities you could want (except television) there is a fully stocked fridge with soda, water, yogurt, a variety of fruit, milk, cheese (good brick cheese), creamer for coffee, and flavored seltzer water. There are also a variety of different kinds of crackers, cereals (the good kind), and baked goods that the host prepares daily. You also have access to the main house which is very tastefully decorated with antiques and a working pool table, and, get this.......an all you can eat ice cream sundae bar with all of the toppings and not one, not two, but over six flavors of ice cream!!!! There are also more snacks and beverages there. The cottage itself was more than worth the cost especially with the sound of the waterfalls in the gorge and the true cabin feel. If you plan to go to Cooperstown or even just want an awesome getaway (this place is well worth the trip from anywhere) come to Johnstown to stay in this charming historical place. Oh yeah..... there is a ton of history behind these walls including being part of the underground railroad. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

When we arrived our room wasn't quite ready, so we asked what was a close place to eat. Jeremy at the front desk directed us to an excellent place just up the road. After spending an hour eating,vee came back and the room still wasn't ready. Jeremy took off from the cost for the inconvenience and we proceeded to hang out in the lobby talking to him about hunting, fishing, and the Cooperstown area. When our rooms were finally ready, we headed to their top level of rooms and settled in. I enjoy "vintage" hotels, but my son is used to modern ones. Needless to say, this place grew on him and it worked for us. We even enjoyed a cigar while overlooking the lake on our last day there. I thought it was a very good deal for the price and it's about a 10 minute ride to downtown Cooperstown, so you're a little ways away from that chaos. Can't beat the views!

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by John, the owner. We were looking forward to meeting John from the moment we spoke to him on the phone and made our reservation with him. When we drove up to Fieldstone we immediately were taken with the beauty of this resort! Our bungalow was perfect! It was equipped with everything we could have possibly needed and it was spotless. The kitchen was equipped with pots, pans, utensils, coffee maker, dishes, bowls and more. It was such a pleasure to get up in the morning and make breakfast and not have to go out for every meal. John also has a small store on premises in case you need some groceries very reasonably priced. We loved the front porch. The view from the porch is breathtaking! You see mountains and valleys and you swear you are looking at a postcard. The bedrooms are roomy and the living room and kitchen are spacious. We had more than enough room to spread out. The outdoor pool was such a plus that we enjoyed during our stay. There were nice tables and chairs to sit on and soak up the sun while our kids swam. There was plenty to do on the premises with options to go boating or go to the game room. Our vacation at Fieldstone Farm Resort was perfect! After walking around Cooperstown and Main Street during the day, it was such a pleasure to go back to our bungalow in the country only 10 minutes away. It was a much better choice than staying in the hustle and bustle of Cooperstown. Don't waste your time or money and go anywhere else. We can't wait to go back again, hope to see you there!

Fieldstone Farm is a breath of fresh air in a world full of cookie-cutter hotels and motels. You can stay in a cabin, or one of the other townhouses in the middle of "Farm Central" upstate New York. I always see a multitude of wildlife. They just got a new boat with a shade for the big pond, so you can hang out all day on the water without getting sunburn. They have some nice amenities like a tennis court, volleyball court, basketball court, game room/arcade, a nice size in the ground outdoor pool, billiards room and another smaller pond for fishing. There's a nice rolling stream too. The view from the top of the hill is absolutely stunning. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Pictures don't do it justice. I can't wait to go back.
