BUYER BEWARE -- especially before paying Gregg Woodworth at Canal Cruisers Bicycles thousands of dollars up front. My wife and I paid Gregg more than $5,000 IN FULL for two e-bikes and accessories on March 15. We were told we'd have them in approximately two weeks. We never received them. What we did receive were weeks of changing explanations while WE repeatedly had to call and text Gregg trying to find out what was happening with our $5,000+ purchase. Eventually, Gregg agreed IN WRITING to refund our money. Problem solved, right? Wrong. HE NEVER REFUNDED US. That's the part of this experience I find completely unacceptable. At that point Gregg had more than $5,000 of our money. We had no bikes. He had agreed to return our money. And he STILL didn't give it back. We had to fight for it. We filed a dispute with our credit card company and spent months providing documentation to prove what had happened. Meanwhile, rather than lose our entire riding season, we went to another dealer and ordered two bikes--even though more than $5,000 from our first purchase was STILL tied up in the dispute. The other dealer required a $100 deposit. Two weeks later, our bikes arrived. We paid the balance and took them home. THAT is how a customer should be treated. Nearly FIVE MONTHS after we originally gave Gregg more than $5,000, we finally recovered our money. Not because Gregg honored his promise and refunded us. Because our CREDIT CARD COMPANY ruled in our favor. Think about that before deciding where to spend your money. More than $5,000 paid.No bikes.Refund promised. No refund.Credit card dispute required to get our money back. Buying e-bikes was supposed to be fun. Dealing with Gregg Woodworth and Canal Cruisers Bicycles turned it into THE WORST PURCHASING EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD. I would never do business with him again. read more

I STRONGLY recommend thinking twice before giving Gregg Woodworth at Canal Cruisers Bicycles in Buzzards Bay your money. We made that mistake. On March 15, we paid Gregg more than $5,000 IN FULL for two e-bikes and accessories. We watched him place the order and were told we'd have our bikes in approximately two weeks. Two weeks came and went. Then began nearly two months of chasing Gregg for answers. Gregg didn't keep us informed--we had to keep contacting HIM. We heard about delays, a new warehouse, Gregg being in Los Angeles, one bike supposedly being ready while the other was still in a box, missing accessories and one changing timeline after another. Frankly, after a while, we stopped knowing what to believe. What bothered us almost as much as not receiving the bikes was the way we were treated as customers who had already handed this business more than $5,000. There seemed to be no sense of urgency, no meaningful effort to keep us informed and very little accountability when another promised date came and went. Finally, on May 5, Gregg told me IN WRITING that rather than guarantee something he couldn't deliver, he would be happy to refund our purchase. Great. At least the nightmare was over. Except it wasn't. GREGG NEVER ISSUED THE REFUND. For me, that tells you everything you need to know about our experience with this business. Gregg had our $5,000+. We had NO BIKES. He had agreed IN WRITING to give us our money back. Yet he STILL didn't return it. At that point, we weren't waiting for bicycles anymore. We were fighting to get our own money back. We had to file a credit card dispute and provide months of texts, call history, our receipt and a detailed chronology documenting what had happened. Meanwhile, our riding season was disappearing. We finally bought two e-bikes from another dealer WHILE THE $5,000+ CANAL CRUISERS CHARGE WAS STILL IN DISPUTE because we weren't willing to let this experience cost us the entire riding season too. And what happened with the other dealer? They asked for a $100 deposit. Our bikes arrived TWO WEEKS later. We paid the balance when they arrived and took our bikes home. Imagine that. No chasing. No months of excuses. No paying $5,000+ in advance. No fighting to get our money back. Just a dealer doing what they said they would do. It ultimately took nearly FIVE MONTHS from the day we handed Gregg our money until we finally got it back--and it wasn't Gregg who returned it. Our CREDIT CARD COMPANY ruled in our favor and returned our money after we successfully disputed the charge. Buying two e-bikes was supposed to be FUN. We thought we'd order them in March, have them two weeks later and enjoy riding them. Instead, dealing with Gregg Woodworth and Canal Cruisers turned a fun purchase into months of frustration, aggravation and stress. More than $5,000 paid in full. No bikes. Refund promised in writing. No refund. Months spent fighting to recover our money. THE WORST PURCHASING EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD. I would never give Gregg Woodworth or Canal Cruisers Bicycles my business again. read more

Greg(g?) is the best! Knowledgeable, friendly and honest. And his prices will seal the deal for your choice of a local e-bike guru!

Three word describes Greg and his business practices; Shady, liar, thief. The plug that connects my remote was fried. I walked in showed him the fried plug and the controller that wasn't working. He grabbed all the parts off the shelves showed them to me and said no problem it should be ready tomorrow. We'll a week goes buy and he couldn't get any remote to turn on and my existing controller was missing and their were no new parts except a green plug to the remote he said he replaced. I go to pick up my bike not only is their no controller on the bike not even my original that was their. He tells me I owe him 400 which was initial quote including parts that he didn't install he just stole mine. Anywho he says I owe him 400 in labor where I was originally quoted 100. Then when I question it he yells and tells me to keep the bike. I leave w a broken bike, parts missing and according to him 400 for me Trevor plug and labor total. I tell him that's ridiculous he gets mad says fine take the bike well call it even so I did. 4 hrs later around 730pm he texts me and says he's taking me to small claims court for 500 after he said the bike was all dry and let me leave with it. I text him a week later and ask him for my parts that he took off the bike and he acts like he didn't know what I'm taking about and says he's having me arrested if I show to her the parts he stole from me and a bike he never put back together. Can't wait for civil court. Guy's name is Greg and he's a scumbag read more

Gregg Woodworth has done it to me again. For the second time he has sold wheels off one of my kids bikes without any permission or right to do so. First time he offered to buy new tires. Instead I made a deal with him to put the bike back together using wheels I supplied and a new chain I bought from him. I picked it up and he was frustrated with finishing it up and made a wise remark. The new chain was also swapped out with a used one. ‍ So time he lost my sons Blue Redline that I left him during covid. He said he tried to order the freestyle brake parts it needed but he wasn't able to find them. So we decided to give it another season. Then over the course of the next two season's I couldn't reach him despite going to his shop several times. I was trying to give him an identical Blue Redline bike I bought for the needed parts. When I finally found his store open, his dad was there. It was then I discovered my son's bikes frame was missing tires and several components off of it. It was like Deja vu. His father calls Gregg on the phone and told him to give me some random wheels that weren't mine. I refused and told his dad to have Gregg give me a call. Never heard back from him again. So I went there in April, and he said he must have left it in lockup. Not hearing from him o reached out via text and he tells me I ever brought him that bike. He said I brought him a Mongoose. What? He won't help me out with replacing what I've lost and has blocked me on Facebook. Do yourself a favor and don't do business with this man or his family at this bike shop! I rented a bike from Canal Cruisers on Labor Day 2024. I didn't have a prior reservation, and Greg told me that he had a very limited supply of bikes, but that if I could wait for less than an hour, he'd have one for me. He was true to his word. I rented a bike and had a great time riding up and down the Cape Cod Canal. On top of that, Canal Cruisers was the only bike shop open on Labor Day. And for the icing on the cake, Greg recommended a great little local place for lunch where I ate a delicious sandwich and a heavenly coffee. All in all, a lovely day. read more

The man working there is awesome he is very kind and is very good at his job, I highly recommend this bike shop.

This summer I rented a bicycle from Canal Cruisers to, you know, cruise along the canal. The transaction was super-easy, the paperwork minimal, and with almost zero wait time they pulled the bike that fit me best in the style I liked (retro cruiser, please!), and off we went! In fact, it was such a positive experience that I ended up buying one of their rental bikes at the end of the season and Gregg, the owner, was *really* helpful and a pleasure to deal with. So, when it's time to get my new-to-me bike tuned up, I'll be back! read more

Excellent experience highly recommend. Convenient location with Canal access only a short ride across the street. They were very accommodating for our short notice party of 8 with a variety of ages/bikes required. One of our riders ended up getting a flat half way though the trip but we were relieved it turned out to be a minor issue with the help of Canal Cruisers. We called the shop, gave them our location and within 15 minutes someone was there to quickly repair the flat and we were back on our way. read more

The owners are very friendly and easy to work with. The access to the canal is close by. The ride is mostly flat and scenic.

excellent bike shop! professional, knowledgeable, reasonable repair rates and prompt friend service. thank you!

In the past I've had ok service from Gregg however, as a whole, the business practices leave much to be desired. No one answers the phone during business hours, they weren't up front about how long it would take to get bike parts, and when asked they were rude and defensive. I know everyone is struggling during this time, but I was able to get my own derailleur overnight and bring my bike somewhere else to get fixed the same day. The second shop I used also fixed another bike that needed repair within a couple of days. Gregg is a nice guy but if you're looking for quick service, honest answers, and for someone to answer a phone and/or call you back during their stated business hours I recommend going else where. The service was similar with an issue I had pre-COVID but I try to support small businesses so I gave it another shot. Lesson learned. read more

Great service- nice bikes! The location is perfect for riding the canal. My husband and I rented for 4 days- no problem when we called to extend another day. Day trip to Truro with bikes in our truck was super easy. Make sure you get a basket on your bike to carry stuff. And always let people know when you are passing on the left while riding. read more

Brought in my fat tire e bike today for some servicing and was blown away by the service. In and out service with terrific pricing. I bike on the canal a ton and it is great to know they are right on Main Street if i have another issue. Highly recommend Canal Cruisers! read more

I was staying in Cape Cod for the week and, at the recommendation of the home owner for the place we were renting, I emailed Gregg. He took my credit card number to hold a bike for me and when I called on Sunday, which was the day we agreed I would pick it up, I never heard back - no phone call, no email, nothing. I ended up renting from Cape Cod bike rentals in Sandwich (they deliver and pick up and have racks if you're renting a car or just need one and are super accommodating). Anyway, Gregg charged my card for the full amount before I ever left for the trip. I emailed him and asked for a refund and haven't heard back. Maybe this guy will resurface with a shark bite and an apology but in the meantime I'd stay away. read more

My son and I showed up to rent 2 bikes for about an hour. It was an easy process, nice bikes and the price was right! We were probably gone for over an hour but Greg only charged us for the hour. Easy access to the canal. read more

As an amateur Tour de France cycler I like to ride beach cruisers in the sand for MAXimum calf muscle strength. After a good weekend of sand crawlin', I noticed some proper sand erosion on my gears, so I brought them to Canal Cruisers for some sanding. I was met by a professional bicycle repairer and enthusiast named Gregg. I immediately respect a man with 2 G's at the end of his name such as my self and trusted that my $4,000 Pedego Ford Super Cruiser was in honest hands. Gregg calls me back only 2 days later telling me my bike was ready to be picked up, but unfortunately I was off on a dune trek and needed my wife Sandy to pick it up for me. When I get home Sandy tells me Gregg asked her to test out some bicycle seats for him. The helpful woman she is, she agreed, and out came Gregg with some seat posts but with no seats attached, and he actually asked her to sit on them! He called them "Canal Cruisers' Anal Bruisers". She left immediately and told me about what happened. I trust my wife Sandy, she's been honest about all the times she has cheated on me. I had to pick the bike up myself a few days later, gears were perfect thanks Gregg! Cheers, Dougg read more

I stopped in today on my way to bike the canal. I highly recommend you stop in and see Gregg for you bicycle needs. Great guy with lots of bike knowledge. I am thinking about up grading to a nicer bike. Gregg was able to answer all of my questions unlike some off the shops I have been to. This is where my next bike will be bought. read more

I live in the Cape and have a collection of bikes. I ride them all and when ever I need a tune up or a major repair, I bring them to Gregg at Canal Cruisers. He is great and very reasonable. He has built this business from the ground up. I will continue to use Canal Cruisers for as long as I ride and I hope this review will get any and everyone to give him the business.
