I took my car into the pickering location for a squeak. they confidently told my what was required to fix the squeak. I paid my whole pension check. my car still squeaked. they told me to leave the car for further evaluation. but I lost confidence and was out of money. my car now cannot be safely diven and must be towed. Julie the owners daugther offered me $250 refund. I paid $1100, I am a senior without money for the month and no car and no refund. Very last time here at the Auto Service Centre. Dropped off my car to have winter tires taken off on Monday at 10:00 am with appointment made in advance. By 4:00 pm it was ready for pick up. The tire warning in the car was on. They said drive it around and see if it comes off. If it doesn't come back. They have the car for 6 hours and cannot reset the sensors. Friday late afternoon I call to let them know the warning light is still on. "Do I need an appointment?" No just come in tomorrow. Saturday morning they say they are too busy and come next Thursday. That way I can take a day off work and leave my car with them? After a heated argument I agree to leave the car on Saturday. No guarantee they will get to it. If they don't it would be over 16 hours for tire change. Crazy, terrible and don't come here. read more

I purchased a Hoover vacuum from the Canadian Tire at Port Union in Scarborough. In less than a year I has some issues with it so went back to Canadian Tire. The Manager Ms. Salina was very helpful, not only did she go out of her way to explain how the warranty program works but she waited with me to get a response from Hoover on the phone. Hoover replaced the vacuum with one of better quality. I was very satisfied with the service I received at Canadian Tire and Hoover. Had it not been for Salina's patience, honestly and willingness to ensure I was completely satisfied I would have purchased another vacuum and moved on. So thank you Salina!! read more

I have never written a bad review online ever but I can't overlook this. I was checking out at the self checkout when the assistant there came to help. I had 3 items that were being done in 2 transactions, which I told here. She helped check out the first two and I said I'm fine so she stood not 8 feet from me. We were the only two people in that small area. I finished paying, then took my 3rd item and went through the same process and paid. Bear in mind she was standing looking at me the whole time. I paid, took my receipt and went to leave. She stopped me and asked me "What about the paper towel?" I was shocked beyond anything, and told her rather loudly that she just watched me pay for it. She didn't just ask for the receipt, she said "You did not pay for it." I have never been treated so poorly in a store in my life. Yes I swore, I was that shocked. I did not threaten her in any way but of course a big imposing guy came over to stand by me. I am by the way a 64 year old cancer survivor. There isn't a threatening bone in my body. Did she apologize after she checked my receipt? No . She actually threw it in my cart. What a great experience. Never in my life. read more

I haven't been to a Canadian Tire in a long time but I can no longer affectionately refer to it as Crappy Tire. There's a ton of stuff to look at in the store and on top of having what you do want, they have a lot of stuff that you didn't know you needed until you lay eyes on it. That's what happened to us on this visit. One of the things we spontaneously decided to get was a 3-drawer shelf that was on sale for about 30% off. While we were deciding an associate came up to us to offer assistance but we hadn't made our final call yet. When we were ready, it was easy to find the gentleman again who helped us get the bulky item down from the shelf straight away. In the past I've always had trouble finding staff to get help from at Canadian Tire but that's no longer the case! During our shopping spree we realized we needed a cart and they have them towards the front of the store on the inside which was nice since it's cold outside. Cart return was also easy since there were a few cart corrals located in the parking lot. Now our adventure with Canadian Tire didn't stop there. After assembling and falling in love with our new drawer, we saw that it went on sale for 50% off in the most recent Canadian Tire flyer!! A little panic stricken that we'd been bamboozled we went back to the store with the receipt in hand and were able to quickly get a hold of a the manager who was making the rounds on the floor. He was more than happy to do the price adjustment for us and we wound up saving even more on our beloved drawer in an easy 2 minutes. Thanks Canadian Tire! read more

My truck broke down across the street from Canadian tire so I had it towed to Canadian tire. They called me back the next day to pick it up and it didn't start so I left it there another day. After they changed the fuel pump module it started and I drove it home after they charged me $500. It died immediately so I looked under the hood of my truck and 5 minutes later I found a worn fuse that was causing the problem. I was returning an item I had purchased a few days earlier receipt in hand (purchased from the Pickering store) I had been shopping at both stores for the past 15 years and often returned stuff to either store no problem! . When I went to return this one item she tells me Oh you opened the package too bad so sad only store credit? whaaa???. then she goes on about being a franchise and privately owned blah blah blah, 2 weeks ago I went to this same store to get a price match, the manager (woman) gave me the same bs we dont price match we are a franchise privately owned... I walked across the plaza to home depot and they price matched I bought 12 of those items. When I chose to buy my online order I had a choice I could buy from Amazon (same price) and get it delivered OR I could give my money to a Canadian business (CTC) but after this experience!!!!. NEVER and I mean NEVER will I EVER buy anything from this frigging store again. They are dead to me! AND if this is the NEW CTC policy at ALL stores no refunds if a package is opened ( how will you know if an item works or not without opening?) then I will NEVER shop at another CTC again in my life! scum bags! Worst customer service ever. An associate couldn't find a sale item although the computer read that there were ten in stock. After taking us on a wild goose chase around the store, he decided to go get the manager of that department. The manager informed us that there are, in fact, ten of the car lighter cellphone chargers, but they were somewhere in the stockroom. When my mom asked him if he could get one, he said "No because I have already had to go look for other things for other customers." Now I may be outta line here, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that getting product for customers seems to be in the job description of most people who work in a retail outlet. Disappointed that when my car was in for a check up, the floor mats were covered with brown oil., obviously the technician did not put down any floor protection. I mentioned this to service man who said I would have to talk to the manager, and could I wait half an hour. I did not want to wait., so I left., went to the car wash and washed and scrubbed the mat to get most of the stain out. I then phoned the manager, who said that they generally put liner on the floor. So my advise to you is, make sure they put a protected liner on the floor. Other dealers do this, do not know why Canadian Tire do not . read more

Yesterday I brought in my car to the Canadian Tire in Ajax to fix my car. I had indicated to them that my car had some smoke coming from underneath the roof the day before. My husband indicated it coming from a fan under the roof, in the passenger side, and on the inside of the car by the grill. We also informed CT that immediately after, the air conditioning stopped working and then the day after I noticed that the temperature guage increased to the RED line. CT informed me that they would take a look at my car and because Volkswagen was closed at the time, that they would like to keep my car overnight and talk to volkswagen and get a price on the fan. This morning, I called Canadian Tire and unfortunately they were not ready with the quote on the car repair so they asked if they can call me back. I eventually got a call back from Canadian Tire and they informed me that the problem I had was due to the fan, serpentine belt, and thermostat needed to be changed. CT informed me that the after market fan that they have in stock only had 2 wires (or something) whereas the VW fan had 3 wires and this is what I needed for my car. Although it was $150.00 more to get the VW part, I went ahead and agreed that it was ok to get the VW fan. CT quoted me a total of $1011.00 for the following repairs: new fan, coolant system flush, serpentine belt replaced, new thermostat, labour, and tax. I picked up my car this afternoon and paid approx $1000.00 in cash for my car. I drove my car and within an hour or less, I saw that my temperature gauge was increasing again and that it was hitting the red line. THEY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM! I WAS DEVASTATED as the money that I had given to CT was the last of my savings and they had indicated that my car had been fixed. I called CT and informed them that my car and informed them that my car was still having the same problem as before. They infomred me that I should take my car back to Canadian Tire which I did. Unfortunately I had to leave my car there overnight again as all the mechanics had left for the night. I was devastated as I need my car for tomorrow to get to work and see my patients (I am a research nurse working at Sunnybrook Hospital) A couple of months ago I went to the same Canadian Tire to have my husbands car balanced. I paid over $100.00 for the balancing but after looking at the read out on the 'before' and 'after' balancing of the wheels, there was hardly any difference. I complained that time as well about them taking my money and not having any actual work done on the car. They offered to repeat the balancing at no charge which I accepted. But this is still unacceptable. How could they hand over the car to me, accepting payment, and not have done their part???????? read more

went there to get washer fluid last night. they had a sale on motomaster fluid, 4 in a box for 8.99$. went and got a box of 4 the of the exact same as in the flyer. just because they were in a different coloured box than the paper's they had to open the box and ring them in separately for 2.99$ each. this turned out to be an 11.96$ subtotal. talked to the cashier and manager about it and how it is the exact same product, name and all, but they would not give them to me for the flyer price, "because they are in a different box than pictured in the paper". bunch of snobs. lost a loyal customer and many more from that selfish incident now. do not go to this CT! go to one in Ajax or Whitby where they treat you as an individual and respect a dollar. this pickering location is acting the same way the one's in toronto do, like herding cattle. read more

I've lived in Pickering for over 30 years and this is by far the worst Canadian Tire that I have visited. The poor service is not limited to the automotive department but through out the entire store. Most if not all of the reps have extremely poor attitudes. Management needs too clean house!! There are neighboring store that have thousand times better attitude and service. I have no idea how with staff like these, the store continues to operate. I can only assume CT Corp doesn't care about what customers think. read more
