Do not shop here. Discriminatory policies against those with disabilities and an unwillingness to be reasonable. I have a medical conditions that requires I carry certain equipment with me at all times, or I may die, I do this with a backpack. I was told I was not allowed into the store with my medical equipment unless I wanted to stand in a 7 person line at Customer Service and explain to them all about my disability. They wanted to take my equipment from me while I shopped to then be returned when I was finished. I came here at the recommendation of a hockey parent (we are new to kiddo hockey) to pick up a mouth guard, container, and jockshorts. Sure we bought them and found what we needed... Canadian Tire (Windermere location) completed 3 repair works for me and for each one I had to go back after a few months to re-fix the repair completed as it's always malfunctioning. Each time I have to pay for labour for the re-fix out of my pocket as your policy indicates that the warranty on the labour is 100 days. if Canadian tire used malfunctioning parts, why I have to pay for the adjustment and fix the repair again? Why every time I have to pay the labour twice??? The third time was yesterday, June 05, 2023, when the battery installed back in Nov 2022 (by the Windermere branch) failed while driving and the battery light turned on on the dashboard. I took the car to the store to check, first, the customer service were very dismissal and all what they say that I have to pay for the labour so that they can check. Secondly, they were not accommodating the appointment and said they have no time to look at it today and I had to bring it tomorrow (June 05, 2023). I replied that I will bring it tomorrow after 5 and they said OK. Today (June 05, 2023), while driving the car with my two kids, the battery almost died and I was about to have an accident as everything in the car almost stopped working including the steering wheel. Thank god, I was close by my house and managed to drive it safely to my house. I phoned them again to check the car but they indicated that they have no mechanics after 5 and I have to get a towing truck to get to there tomorrow morning. If the team of Sunday knew about no mechanics after 5; why they did not tell me that?? As experts, why you didn't indicate to me that I should not drive the car? This is a significant matter to me that the team was dismissal and didn't indicate the safety issue. If Canadian Tire is only cares/concerns about money and labour costs but not about the customer's safety, this is very shocking and disappointing and not acceptable. I officially request Canadian Tire to investigate this further and withhold all the expenses that I will incur because of this negligence and misconduct that might have led to an accident for me and my kids. read more

Service here is really hit and miss. The cashiers are fine...Ninety percent of the time, they're nice and have a brain. Other departments...meh. Depends on their mood. The gardening section seems to bring out the worst in the staff. I've had two incidents where the staff was SO RUDE, I never wanted to come back. The reason I DO come back is partly because of their products and the availability of them. I've found some really cool deals on kitchen and household stuff from time to time, and I always get my canning supplies here. To be honest, I can't go in there without checking out the seasonal section, with all the Halloween and Christmas goodies there now. (Yes, they've already got the Christmas stuff out.) The biggest reason I come back is for the CAT FOOD. I have two wonderful but spoiled rotten furchildren who refuse to eat anything but Friskies brand wet cat food and only in 156 grams tins. (I have no idea why. I think it's just to mess with Mommy's head.) I've discovered that the cat food (not sure about dog. Sorry.) is anywhere from 10 to 30 cents cheaper than even the local grocery store. That's the wet, dry and treats. And of course, you can add your Canadian Tire money for more savings. It's not a terrible store. Just know that when you go in, expect to be on your own and harbor no illusions about 'good service'. read more

I bought 4 pairs of winter tires & 4 rims here, but they don't book appts so it was first come first serve so I arrived at 3:45 and it was about 7:15 by the time they finally took my car into the shop, and 7:55 when it was done. So I waited 4 hrs & 10 mins by the time they were finished, and paid $1300 to get my tires changed. Initially I was told it would probably be 2 hrs but 3 at the most. Definitely go somewhere that will let you book an appointment. It's not worth sitting around in an uncomfortable chair in a waiting room for over 4 hrs. For this kind of customer service experience that makes you feel they don't value you or your time, I would expect it to be dirt cheap, but it wasn't. They need to reconsider their policies on the customer experience because this was horrible. read more

I was really happy with the service when purchasing winter tires recently. I was shopping around and ended up here. Hailey was super helpful, she showed me different brands and gave me info about each. She printed off two quotes for me to review. I went back a few days later to order but they were out of stock and the price went down by 60 dollars each. She said it may take up to one week but she called in two days, right before the big snowfall. I brought my vehicle in right away and am very happy with my new tires. Incompetent or worse. Brought truck in to fix tire. They held it for more than a day and dinged me $40 for the pleasure. Only thing changed was the steel tire cap was now a plastic one. I returned two days later to ask for my money back. The service clerk said she was not authorized to return my $40 and that I had to wait five hours for the manager to arrive at work. She did tell me that she could get my truck in to look at the tire. I assumed that meant by looking at it she would then be able to confirm the tire was still not fixed and then be able to return my money. Unfortunately, my dog was in the truck and I had no leash so she told me the dog must not be in the vehicle when they looked at the tire. I was then given the 1-800 customer service number to call. The lady in CS tried to call the store and the original store service clerk's phone began to light up. She then stepped away and let it ring. She returned when another customer arrived and continued to ignore the flickering light of the incoming call from Canadian Tire customer service. CS eventually told me there was nothing they could do differently than what the store clerk originally told me. I went back to the store clerk who said they would look at it but only to try and fix it again, and that there was absolutely no way she could refund my money for not fixing the tire and that again I would have to wait four hours for the manager to arrive since only the manager has the authorization to return $40. I asked the CS store service clerk to review the accuracy of this text before posting it, and she began to yell and swear at me and ask me to leave. I then started to record her speaking to me and this appeared to make her even angrier. At this point I decided the $40 is not worth thus kind of time, stress and abuse. I have to say the fact that Canadian Tire is so strict about not returning money for work not done that I strongly recommend people seek auto service elsewhere. read more

The young guy seemed inpatient and yelling on the phone "it's not on my computer! It's in another system!" So he couldn't put it out. Well, like I care how many or wtf system you use. Fairly typical for an auto mechanic shop: Final costs higher than initially quoted because more work had to be done, and it took longer than they said it would... but overall the problem is fixed and the car's running. My experience: I called around for a new bearing for my car, prices ranged from $315 - 375. Canadian Tire was $325 and they could get me in the following morning. I dropped off my car the night before and told them that I needed it for 10am the following morning and they said that won't be a problem. My transmission was also making some noise so I asked them to do an inspection. (a REALLY hard shift between gears 1 and 2 when it's cold). The following morning I called at 9 am and they said they were putting together a quote, but had no more information, I re-iterated that I needed the car for 10 so at 10 I went by and they hadn't done any work on my car yet. They told me that it was likely it needed a whole new wheel hub assembly and not just a bearing but they hadn't pulled it off yet... and they told me that they found no issues with the transmission and without ripping the whole tranny apart there's nothing they could do (Except change the fluids which were full and clean so... yea not too useful) The car ended up not being ready until late afternoon. I picked it up the following morning and the bill came to $550 because they did the whole hub assembly and the tranny inspection. They quickly agreed to not charge the inspection so the final bill was $500 without any arguing which was nice. They could have easily charged me for that, I was prepared to pay it (they did test drive the car, check the fluids, run codes etc. so they did do the inspection) So, at the end of the day, it took longer than expected, but most shops weren't even able to look at my car for a couple of days... and the final bill was a lot more than quoted, but that's because they said the hub assembly needed replacement (no way to verify this of course). But at least they didn't charge me for the inspection and the car is driving well now, and they got it looked at the day I brought it in, so I'll still give them 4 stars. read more

This Canadian Tire store has been taken over by zombies. [citation needed] The employees walk around void of any consciousness or self-awareness with a far-away stare in their glazed-over eyes, ignoring any customer that might have a question. I want to make it clear that I am reviewing the 178 St store, not all Canadian Tires in general. The Parts Department in particular has been hit the hardest by the zombie uprising. Every time that I've needed employee assistance there I get treated like a Jehova's Witness handing out pamphlets. Like the time I was looking for a car charger for my iPhone: I asked a red-shirted employee where the chargers were (he didn't ask if I needed a hand.) He didn't stop, he just kept walking in his chosen direction, mumbled something incoherent, while vaguely pointing to one of a few possible aisles. No eye contact. I must have interrupted him while he was on his way to suck out somebody's brain. No time for chatter (or doing his job.) I recently had to replace the battery in my Jeep. I purchased the new one at this store (for some reason.) Whenever you buy a new battery there is always a $15 core charge that is reimbursed to you when you return the old battery to the store for disposal. This a government controlled, treehugger thing so it applies wherever you buy car batteries. No problem. It's a good thing that I knew this already because the undead young man who served me didn't tell me anything about the extra $15 on my bill or how I could get it back. So if somebody was unfamiliar with this fact, they would be out that extra money (and wondering how they're going to get rid of the old battery.) The House & Home Dept seems harmless. My wife and I have bought a few things from that section without incident. We've never had to clap our hands together and yell "HEY!" to get a red shirt's attention there. Apparently they haven't been assimilated on that side of the store yet. Canadian Tire is okay if you're looking for garden shears, paper towel, or a bag of Doritos but if you're looking for auto parts, go to NAPA or PartSource where the parts techs are way more knowledgeable and professional. No zombies there. Oh yeah, this place has the worst parking lot ever. read more

I have been shopping here since they opened. It's a big busy store with a decent selection. Pricing is comparable to other big box stores. Many of the staff have been there for years. I have found the the staff to be knowledgeable, very helpful and friendly. If I have a large or heavy item they usually offer to help me to my vehicle with. One can easily be antranced by their large selection of largely useless junk. As you would imagine, the automotive department is fully stocked and staffed with knowledgable and friendly people. That being said, seasonal product is where they excell in my opinion. My advice is as follows... DO go on a week day. DO NOT go in the evening or on weekends. DO check out everything at lest once. DO NOT buy into the junky trinkets that they have in the bins. DO ask for help if you have questions. Do NOT use this Canadian Tire Automotive department, they are crooks! I wish I could give them 0 stars; they have horrendous customer service and incompetent mechanics. They took my husbands truck in for a problem with it not starting. They told us it was the starter and the alternator, and repaired some other minor issues while it was there; to the tune of $2100, which would have been $2400 had I not argued that they could not charge me for work I did not authorize. After we took it back, it started once when we left and then never again. After finally getting them to agree to look at it again for no cost, I had to get it towed back there (200km as my husband works out of town) at my own cost. They finally figured out what was actually wrong with it, and now refuse to do any more work on it, or cover the cost for me to get it towed elsewhere. Although to their credit, they did finally reluctantly agree to reimburse me for the original tow. So now I am out $2100 and still have a truck that doesn't start. They are washing their hands of their incompetence and the service manager/store manager was incredibly ignorant about the whole thing and hung up on me. Now I have to pay someone else to fix this issue and have nothing to show for the $2100 I already spent. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone and will strongly encourage everyone I know to stay away from them. read more

Canadian Tire may often be ridiculed because of its lack of customer service, but that has been changing the past few years. It's a very convenient one-stop place to get all your tools. I frequently come here for their automotive detailing supplies. There is a huge selection and everything is well laid out logically in sections: exterior (waxing), exterior (tires), interior, etc. It makes it very easy to come brands as they are right beside each other. I also like the selection of washers they have, despite bad experience with the in-house Simoniz brands. Canadian Tire also carries a wide selection of powertools, particularly the reliable Mastercraft brands. A wide selection of paint, furniture, and lighting equipment can also be found. During the summer months, they have a dedicated garden section, with everything from flowers to getting pests away from your flowers. In winter, this turns to Christmas and snow hauling equipment. The staff working there can easily be identified by their red shirts, and they know where you can find just about everything in the store...that is, if you manage to a hold of someone. read more

I love Canadian Tire. If I had to quit my job and go back to working retail Canadian Tire would be where I'd go and work. They have everything for hour house/kitchen/bathroom that you need, the prices are reasonable, the store is clean and the aisles are wide. The one that I frequent on 178th is often busy and even when it is scary busy (in the weeks before Christmas, for example) you are still able to find what you need in the store. It is never messy or unorganized. And when it comes to Christmas don't even get me started on their holiday decoration selection... I think they may just bankrupt my mom and I some day. I've gone in for car repairs (minor) and have been seen that day and have been fixed for less than what I was originally quoted. Maybe not the cheapest place in town for car repairs but when you need something done right now it's nice to know there's a place nearby that can take care of it. In short, I love you Canadian Tire. I bought an Instant Pot from this store 3 weeks ago, and they refused to honour the Black Friday sale price. I went to this Canadian Tire several times in the past week and I have nothing but positive things to say. The ladies in the service department were super helpful and friendly too! The Service Department wasn't "quick," by definition but I think they're usually pretty busy. Needless to say, an overall good experience. Although there isn't always a salesperson around when you need them. When I did find one, he was more than happy to be of assistance. I needed my tires changed to my summer set which one had a flat. Asked to have him he tired swapped and fix the flat with an oil change. I was told 1 1/2 hours. After not hearing from them I called. After asking I was told to come in. Came in not ready. Swapped tires didn't fix the flat. Came back 30 minutes later to tell me they can't fix the flat. So basically wasted four hours to get an oil change and watch them swap all the winter tires back onto the car. Never again read more

Garden Centre - Tree Warranty I usually spend in the range of $1,000 EACH Spring at Canadian Tire, buying plants and landscaping items for my acreage. Last year (late May 2017) I purchased three apple trees as part of my Spring items. This Spring, two out of the three trees showed no sign of life. I inquired at Canadian Tire what the warranty was, and was informed that the warranty on trees was one year, and that the warranty expired two weeks ago. Trees in Alberta can take awhile to leaf out in the Spring so I could not tell if it was dead or not earlier. Cr*ppy Tire lived up to their nick-name and provided Cr*ppy service, telling me that the warranty was expired and they would not do anything for me. Well, I left and spent my GRAND on plants and items at Superstore and Rona instead. AND I will now do that every year. Thanks a lot Cr*ppy Tire, you have lost a customer for life. read more

Money Lost - Today my vehicle was turning over with the key in ignition, but it would not start. I get it towed to Canadian tire and am recommended a diagnostic test which would cost me $60 dollars. An hour later after agreeing to the cost, I get a phone call saying my vehicle must be lifted up and the price is now $180 dollars. Within the next hour I receive another call saying "...unfortunately there's no information on google to fix your vehicle", WHY AM I BEING CHARGED $180 DOLLARS FOR MECHANICS TO GOOGLE WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE? So, now I am to pick up my car with absolutely no advice or information as to what is going on. I really like this store. The sales signs are out and if it's a old sign it doesn't come up right at the till they will correct it. The cashiers are friendly. I wish I could say the same for the staff on the sales floor. I stood for 3+ minutes waiting for 2 staff members to finish their personal conversation and finally acknowledge me. That is the worst possible service is to ignore your customers. I understand they have work to do, but If they don't have customers purchasing they won't have any stock to put away or any hours to work. We went in to purchase a portable buddy heater at this location, there were none on the shelf but a spot as to where they should have been .. We then went to another Canadian tire they had none, But did check for us if another location had it .. Turns out in the system the west side location at 12 in stock yet nothing on the shelf.. We then called to make sure as we just came from there, they told us yes they did and put it on hold.. We get there and it was the little buddy they put on hold which was the wrong one, the workers then went and searched to see if they had the one we wanted in stock and NONE! Then we went to one more location and still nothing except in all the systems they stated they had some!! At this point going from one location to another I'm ANNOYED! And I think that maybe some inventory better get sorted out so that this doesn't happen again.. Especially when you are looking for something and your system says that they are there !!!!! read more

I am very disappointed as a first time customer at auto/tire service area. On the same day, I phoned in booked an appointment for a tire repair. I got there on time hoping my tire will get fix but got dismayed because the associate is a liar. Told me straight to my face that i wasn't on the list. The computer was right in front of me i saw my name and pointed to him that my name is on the list. Then I got told that they can't repair my tire that day and have to re book. What kind of customer service is that? booking a customer and when the customer comes they won't accomodate you? I will never go back to this store ever. Very poor customer service. I went to this location with a spicific issue. I asked them to diagnose the issue and fix it....easy i thought. Well 13 days later and 5 trips to the shop the problem was still there. They fixed something that was not the issue at all! they finally found out what it was and after I had spent $500 on something that wasnt neccessary, they told me I would have to spend another 1000+. all this after hoolding my car hostage, accusing me of not poying for services renderd and making me come downthere twice to show proof of payment, being hung up on....when I was lucky enough to get an answer.
