I rarely ever use Canada Post as a parcel carrier, because I often shop, and ship within the US; unfortunately, the odd times when I do need Canada Post. They rarely ever deliver a satisfying customer service experience.
I placed an order on Sunday, Oct 5th for an urgent delivery. The sender shipped it out on Oct 6th, and on the Canada Post website, the expected delivery date was for Oct 7th, 2014 (but they've changed it to Oct 8th). Like I've said, I do 99.9% of my shopping in the US, so I deal with USPS ALOT. USPS has good customer service, they always deliver on time, if it doesn't get to you on your EXPECTED DELIVERY DATE, they will arrive even sooner. They are rarely ever delayed, unless it's a sudden emergency or during the holiday season. That's reasonable and it's to be expected. The sender is from Richmond BC, it's literally a 25 minute drive from MY RESIDENCE to my sender, and now IT TAKES THREE BUSINESS DAYS (originally TWO) for me to receive my parcel when it's for EXPEDITED DELIVERY. For god sake, THIS IS A LOCAL DELIVERY and it TAKES Canada POST 3 BUSINESS DAYS to get to my home (mind you, my parcel hasn't been officially delivered yet, it might get postpone again). In the US, it would've been THE SAME BUSINESS DAY or NEXT DAY with GUARANTEED delivery for a LOCAL delivery (within the same city). Only in Canada where we need to put up with this mediocrity. It's not like Canada Post's shipping rates are reasonable either, it cost 200% more to ship here in Vancouver to the same oversea destination than I do if I drove 35 minutes to Point Roberts. This is one of the reasons why I don't care about supporting local, because if your business isn't competitive, my money will go elsewhere. I will always prefer to drive down to PR, fill up gas (on average 30 cents/L cheaper), and pick up my parcels and come back then to deal with Canada Post. read more
