Service 3.5/5 Recently came back after a year or so as I only visit when I need electronics. It's too tempting otherwise as there is always something that I end up buying due to it being on sale. That being said, there have been times it was harder to find someone to help despite a lot of employees in the store. The gentleman by the cashier (Eric I believe his name was) is super helpful and knowledgeable. Apart from helping customers, he remembers them as well as their interests, which is what brought them to the store in the first place. WORST SERVICE experience in 40 years. Folks, I bought small items there, and even a laptop (as an emergency backup system) once, and I was all great. But my first (and last) service experience was a nightmare. Absolutely incompetent in PROCESS and in TECHNOLOGY. I took a laptop for data recovery, and they returned my SSD chip damaged. So, no data recovered, and the SSD drive was destroyed! See the details below: 1- Took it for recovery, and they said it has to be shipped to the HQ 2- Two months passed, and I had not heard back. So, went in and inquired. I was told that HQ was busy. I asked how long, and they said, "We don't know."? I asked them to call, but they had no calling ability! I asked them to cancel and request it back. 3- The laptop comes with the SSD in a separate case! The tech desk puts it in for me. 4- I go home, and the SSD is not recognizable 5- I take it back. The same person told me, "The HQ removed the chip from the SSD as part of the data recovery". So, I asked them to put it back. They had to send it back to HW for that "chip soldering." 6-another few weeks, and I get the same SSD back. They told me that it could not be fixed. I must have taken it somewhere else!!!! This wasn't done by them!!!! I am furious. But how do you reason with idiots? Any lawyers out there who want this case? read more

Canada Computers & Electronics (CCE) is located at Markham Town Centre, next to Honeymoon Desserts. It used to be a few blocks down from here on Highway 7, where the former White Rose was for eons. This store is now where Future Shop was for decades. When the latter shut down for good, this store remained empty for several years. At one stage, it was used briefly as a voting centre, but for those working the federal election. I was either a Deputy Return Officer for this election back then, I had to return the ballot box, unused ballots, and more to this facility. It was likely when I last set foot into this store before this visit. After having consumed some deliciousness at Honeymoon Desserts last Sunday, I decided to drop by CCE to check it out. It wasn't all that packed. There was a steady stream of customers going in, though. If you enjoy building your own computer, you want to come here. Everything from graphics cards to motherboards are available to build the ultimate dream computer system. There is also a cool gaming section where you can pick up a laptop for your gaming needs, find a comfortable gaming chair to haul home, and get a special mechanical keyboard for high-performance gaming. You can get cell phones and accessories here. It doesn't sell cases specifically for my phone model, but it does have USB-C cables, portable battery packs, and earbuds at decent prices. A couple of sections stood out for me. The selection of microphones were impressive. Whether you need them for your Zoom calls or are into podcasting, you have a bunch of microphones to choose from at decent prices. The small appliances were also decent. Air fryer? It's here. Bread maker? Yep. Toaster? For sure. This place has everything to make someone who likes small appliances so happy. I didn't talk to any staff members during my visit, so I can't comment on customer service. The store offers technical support and services, as I saw three technicians working on various laptops during my visit. I enjoyed browsing here. I look forward to dropping by again. He tried to convince me that the GPS location on the tablet jumps around, and is a very normal thing. Supposed to be replacement within 90 days. If this were Costco, they would have returned it with NO questions asked within their new 90 day electronics no hassle return policy. I didn't come here in need of service for an electronic item so I can't speak to the customer service for that. I must be one of the few that still uses a DVD/Blu-ray player. Prior to moving we had a few all over the house. Upon moving we had gotten rid of the excessive number of DVD players and only kept one. It's too bad that the one we kept doesn't work. We went to Costco and they didn't sell any and suggested Canada Computers. We wandered the aisles looking for ourselves and didn't see any. When we approached a staff member he didn't think they sold any DVD players but checked the shelves and then searched on the computer but no luck. read more

I was there to browse around for a laptop today, I was really interested in one of the displays with no price tag. I ask one staff who had just passed by for the price. He turned his face to Fface and said 10. I asked what do you mean 10, his answer was $10,000 and walk away. Now I understood his face is saying "You can't afford it at all". After 3 seconds, he said 7,000. It is funny that they are displaying products that they don't believe customers can afford. Thanks for their help, I know what they are displaying is an older model in just 3 min search online by myself. A new model had been released. That older model same spec is half price brand new of their price everywhere. For just a $4,000 laptop out there, yes, you are truly right, No one can't afford it lolllllll Older model is selling double the price of the new model? What an honest company. I have to download the yelp app to just praise their company and outstanding customer service in this location. Absolutely trained the staffs well, trained like experts to serve customers who are looking for computer stuffs. I've been to Canada Computers a handful of time because after Tiger Direct closed down, this is the only place left besides going to pacific mall and battling for parking. Yes, the staff behind the graphics card counter are not people friendly and seems like they don't want to sell you anything. Its like they are being forced to give you service. If you know what you want go and just ask for it, if you need advice, go ask google. I think i get better service at the self serve at walmart and homedepot. Prices are ok, when items are on sale. Its a big place!! Lots of inventory on reg. priced items. Lots of parking. To Canada Computers employees, pick up your customer service, or people will go elsewhere, or even order online. He was boring, rude, bland, inexperienced and ultimately has no part being a part of a company with customers' who spend thousands of dollars expecting at least an ounce of competence in their shopping experience. Truthfully, this company doesn't even deserve 1 star. I ordered 3 hard drives on sale during Boxing Week (the sale price was exceptional). I couldn't pay online - I had to wait until pickup to complete the transaction. I waited two weeks for them to send me the acknowledgment to come by the store to "pickup & pay". This was the only option given the COVID lockdown. I had the option to purchase from Newegg for the same price but after coin toss, I chose Canada Computers. I finally did receive the email acknowledgment, however it was an email indicating the store had cancelled the order (with no official explanation). I later learned from a colleague this is common practice - employees will poach certain sale prices when they are below their employee discount. While this isn't fraud, it's pretty damn close. This goes against my moral code. I will never set foot in, or do business with this chain again. read more

I pass by here all the time...but never had the need to shop at Canada Computers until recently. Canada Computers was the only place that carried a brand of mouse that I was interested in. This location can be quite easy to miss, especially if you're trying to concentrate driving on busy Highway 7. Fortunately, they added some new traffic lights in the area so it's easier to turn into their (large) parking lot without risking your safety. The store is quite large, but when I went there on a Tuesday afternoon it was very quiet. There were quite a few salespeople available, so I asked one to direct me to where the mouses are, which he did. He was overall quite knowledgeable about the products, and helped me select the exact one I needed. I noticed in this Canada Computers branch that they don't have a lot of demonstrator products, especially considering the large range of products they offer here. The mouse I ended up purchasing didn't have a demo, so I ended up having to trust the salesperson that it's a product which suits my needs. Canada Computers is a good place if you're looking for a wide range of electronics/computer products. I do prefer NCIX in terms of customer service and knowledge, however their products are a lot less varied. read more

One sent me to the front of the store and the other sent me looking at the back of the store. Did they walk me to the item? No. One rep pointed to the store front and the other just remained on their chair. When I couldn't find the item, they check the availability which shows one available. They are quick to make excuses why I won't be able to find it. The item might be lost or stolen. The rep could care less. End up buying from Amazon with free next day delivery instead. read more

My experience here is mostly buying a Dlink router that was on sale, mouse and Canon ink catridges. Place is huge. Parking is plentiful. When I ask for help, there is usually a staff who is able to help me out. Not a lot of staff people on the floor so the place reminds me of Walmart in some way. I haven't had a bad experience here. The person helping me was decent, though he was good at bumping my total to $1400 (with the extended warranties and "oh, you have to buy a new version of windows because it won't work with your old windows!") I sighed and paid the man (wtf do I know?) and was promised it would be ready in 2 business days. I left my old computer with them, after they said they could use the old case and save me some $$ there. I get a call from them about 5 days later telling me that they can't use the case because they need special mounting screws for the new motherboard. (Apparently Canada Computers doesn't stock useful things such as these!), so I was stuck paying for a new case anyways. 2-3 days later and I have to call THEM to find out if my computer is ready. It's been ready for a while, but nobody bothered to call. I picked up my new and old computer and, when I brought it home, found they hadn't bothered to return my old motherboard, RAM, or any of the other stuff that was still perfectly good and usable (if I were to do a cheap build for someone). I had to drive BACK to get that, and only then find that they botched my HDD somehow, so all my files are pooched. Ah well, I didn't want all of my photos and music anyways. Yes, I should have made a backup, so I suppose I'm the one in the wrong here. You're absolved, Canada Computers. I'll switch this 1 star to 5 stars within 2 business days. read more

Do NOT use their online store. Not only are they lacking in customer service, they lose track of orders, don't answer their phone, do not reply to email inquiries, then they bill you and never deliver. I'm still waiting after 5 email requests, 25 attempts at calling their service line and head office. It's futile. They will hold onto product to the point where their mail-in rebates are no longer redeemable as well, then cancel orders and basically tell you you're out of luck. MANY customers have been experiencing this same lapse in customer service, and are taking to their forums to get answers. This is basically a scam company at this point. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was dealing with under qualified and an experienced people. I needed my laptop repaired and brought it in in my bag, and I was immediately accosted by someone telling me I couldn't take it in, and I had to explain more than once that I needed the laptop. And then I was shown some adapters, which was the culprit for my problem. I showed the one I had, and the staff member tried to sell me one which was woefully under powered. Despite my constant telling him that I needed something more powerful, he assured me that it would get the job done. It was like trying to find a Mac accessory for a PC. This poor individual knew nothing. And assured me that my computer was totally fried and would have to be taken in for repair. They tried to push the items on me, but I simply walked out. They didn't know anything. They certainly weren't helpful. And I don't like being accosted at the door as if I'm a criminal. I consider this a no frills version of Best Buy. No one really bothers you while you peruse the isle. There's a fair amount of merchandise and I find the prices generally cheaper than best buy. If I really needed to purchase some items for my phone or computer, I usually check this place out. Like other Yelpers mentioned, the line up to pay is slow. Service isn't the greatest, but if you know what you want or what you're looking for this is a good place to start. This place is huge and can be intimidating for the non computer geeks - that's me! I don't know a lot about computers but asked a friend what I needed so I was prepared. Lot's of parking and its across the street from Whole Foods. Hours are odd, they close at 8pm on weekdays so I had to rush. Rows and rows of stuff but I found the external drives behind the counter on the side wall. There were three staff members in the corner of the store talking amoung themselves not helping anyone. At the same time, one guy is working like a dog behind the counter, the phone is ringing and the three guys do not answer it. I'm waiting in line for the one guy who is working to help me. Sounds like the store needs a manager on duty. When I got help, the guy was great, he knew his stuff and gave me options at different prices - great service. They really push the extended warranties. They just assumed I wanted it and started adding it to my bill. No thanks! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS DESPICABLE. They don't answer their emails or phones. I made a very pricey order from their online store. After four days of not receiving confirmation that my order had been shipped, I contacted their customer support. It took them two days to answer my email, to which they said that one of the parts in my order was not in stock at their warehouse (regardless of the fact that when I made the purchase, their website said that it was in stock and when I went back to check, it still said it was in stock) and they couldn't ship it until all the pieces of my purchase were there. My order being urgent, I replied asking for them to remove the troublesome piece from my order entirely. Two days later and they still haven't responded. I tried calling their head office, but they don't answer their phones in the middle of a weekday there either. Now my order is overdue from when I needed it, and they ignore my efforts to contact them, knowing I can't do anything about it and that they have already taken the money out of my account. The manager is terrible. Doesn't manage the store well at all. Within hours of purchasing a birthday gift for my son, I called the store to have the defective part exchanged when we took it out of the box. I was told that the manager reviewed the tapes and the box looked undamaged and insinuated we damaged the product. I corrected the rep that we did not damage the product and the product was already damaged even though the box was intact. I'm now trying my luck with contacting the manufacturer directly. The pickup option was provided; with the assumption that there would be notification of pickup-readiness. The text from their confirm email clearly states: "We will confirm the availability of the items in your pickup order at the Markham Unionville during business hours. Please wait until you receive a Store Pickup Notification Email before going to the store. " Since the first week of November, when I placed the order; till today 3rd of Dec. There has been no email confirming pickup-readiness. Sidenote: On the phone with them right now 'told to wait a moment' abruptly when I called. I've now been on hold about 18 minutes and just thinking their definition of time is amusing (find comedy where you can, no?) UPDATE: While on call. He dragged it across the table and also banged it on the edge of the desk when trying to put it back on the table. Not to say he was extremely extremely rude and offered no options in fixing my brand new laptop which had defects by itself, but to charge us for their labor as they said it was a physical damage (No physical damage was done to this brand new laptop. It's housing quality was completely trash and cracked on itself while I was adjusting the screen a tiny bit. This laptop was handled like a baby, and has had no physical damage done to it). With their lack of help and extremely rude staff, I decided to leave immediately and later I went to the Scarborough Canada Computers location and their staff knew exactly what to do. They were much friendlier and helped me with this issue and said it was completely covered by the warranty. I would not recommend coming to this location. read more

Canada Computers sells everything related to electronics from cords to computer parts to accessories. I have mixed feelings about this location because even though I don't have many bad things to say, I don't have many great things to say either. I've only gone to their store for retail and a computer repair so that is what this review reflects. In terms of stock, Canada Computers has a lot of it with a ton of variety. They have an entire isle for cords and you're hard pressed to not find the type you're looking for, for reasonable prices. One thing to keep in mind here is that if you need to replace a component in your laptop or computer, their labour prices are pretty high. In order to replace the blu-ray CD drive in my sister's laptop, she had to pay an extra $40 on top of the cost of the part itself. Not only that, but they've lost my phone number when I've gone for service multiple times now. I've also had an instance where I bought a gift card for a family member, but they failed to activate it so I had to go back, not once, but twice to get it activated! This is an insane amount of work for something that's quick and easy at literally any other store. [Edit: This happened again... I have so few words to express my disappointment in something as so easy as a GIFT CARD.] They don't have a ton of people hovering around the store, looking to help customers and with such a large store, it wouldn't hurt to have some more people around. I have, however, gone there on two separate occasions with someone who made sure I found what I was looking for so if you do find an employee, they'll help you. With the TigerDirect store closed, I find this is the place I need to go for computer stuff unless I want to buy it online. Service for computers is a little shaky and they need more employees around to help people, which is what prevents me from giving this a higher rating. If you're searching for anything related to computers at all, you'll likely find it here.
