Unremarkable but ok 'carn a la brasa' (grilled meats) place like many others. Friendly service and convenient location.

I decided to invite my brother for a 'menu of day' in a recent visit to my birth town and was thinking the classic 10-12 euros menu. This place is pricier for the menu of the day, that normally consist in appetizer, main course, desert, wine and water (plus in most cases bread with tomato). However, for 20 euros per person we had a total feast, plus it was a Thursday so we paid a little bit more and got the seafood paella (Thursdays is usually paella day for them and at other restaurants as well). Simply amazing the amount of food and the quality of all we got. Happy me I got a to-go box (even if I had to deal with the embarrassment of my brother, not used to take leftovers home, as it is still not well considered in Spain). Everything we ate was excellent, including an awesome red wine. The atmosphere is super chic, you feel like you are more in an Art Deco set of a movie than in a Mediterranean-Catalan style restaurant. Service was super attentive, fast, all dishes were hot, delicious, abundant and, definitively, to remember.

I had a great lunch experience here. Their Wednesday daily menu was well worth it for me for only…read more18€. I got to try some very typical and traditional Spanish dishes. To start, I ordered the stewed broad beans marinara style. This was good, but nothing out of this world. My second plate, the garlic rabbit, was the star of the show. This was actually my first time trying rabbit and it was prepared super well. I would say it tasted similar to duck, but less of a bold flavor. It had an excessive amount of bones, but I enjoyed the flavor. With your meal you get a choice of drink (wine included), a side of bread, 1st plate, 2nd plate, and lastly a dessert. For my dessert I chose a raspberry flan. It was mild in sweetness which was nice and the raspberry topping was perfect acidity. I got to also try the "Rossejat" of noodles with garlic mayonnaise. It was interesting, but I preferred the broad beans. The grilled steak was super tender, but arrived cold, and again I much preferred my rabbit dish. Lastly, the other dessert was also like a flan situation. Both my raspberry and the flan de mato were good. The flan de mato was more sweet. The service was absolutely exceptional and all the wait staff were super friendly and helpful. This place is especially handicap friendly with elevators and wheelchair accessible bathrooms, which I've never seen before. Overall, I really enjoyed Nou Canaletes!

You don't know the meaning of the name? no worries, me neither but there is a huge font-funny story painted in the wall explaining it to us. Looks like it is an expression from Catalan area Girona that means 'lets go and get a drink'. A drink or two and definitively many more of that squid with garlic and olive oil!
