So imagine my surprise when I dig into a box of fried chicken and don't see grease collecting around the entire box. It can't taste good if it's not greasy, right? I was delightfully proven wrong. The chicken was juicy af. Yes, so juicy I actually said wtf. The meat was tender, the skin was crunchy. And it was like an ASMR session kind of crunchy. I would've recorded the sound but unfortunately I'm allergic to ASMR. I'll be honest, when I first saw 98k Chicken I didn't have high expectations. I thought it would be another Zaxby's, Popeyes, KFC, etc. But they've really set themselves apart! The price is far more reasonable than other chain fried chicken restaurants, the portions are bigger, and the quality of the food is consistently superior. If they're able to keep up with what they're doing, I think this will be a community favorite. Good food speaks for itself, and so do the kind owners that pour their hearts and souls into their businesses. When I go to a fast food restaurant, I barely expect people to look at me in the eye, let alone carry on a conversation with me. But the woman at the counter is actually quite chatty! She makes you feel like you're talking to a friend, and if you stop by a few times, she even shares tea. IYKYK. The interior space is big and quiet enough if you wanna grab a meal and get some work done. There's a little room that's sectioned off, and it's a bit of a gem.
