Dear Mr. Marcus Lemonis and Camping World Leadership Team,
I am writing as one of many deeply disappointed customers whose trust in Camping World has been fundamentally broken. Our collective experiences uncover a systemic failure across your company--from deceptive sales tactics and inflated fees to nonexistent customer service and unfulfilled warranty obligations.
Camping World Murfreesboro lied to us and treated my wife and mother-in-law horribly. The front desk was rude and singled my mother-in-law out, then they took advantage of her credit by putting the RV only in her name even though we were told it would be in both names. They never explained the interest rate--we had to discover that on our own.
not to mention the things wrong with the RV. And too much to write about what they did the day we pick the trail up left us in the rain with our dogs and mother in law who has health issues if you want to know that horrible story just comment and have time.
Common Customer Pain Points
1. Faulty Products & Lingering Repairs
* A customer in Massachusetts bought a new camper, only for essential parts like the battery and leaf spring to fail immediately. They've now been waiting over seven weeks for repairs--even though this unit was meant to serve as their home for their children.
* Another new trailer in Albuquerque spent nearly a year in the shop for repairs, followed by additional unexpected expenses to fix issues like an incorrectly installed air conditioner.
2. Unresponsive and Incompetent Service
* Multiple customers describe extreme delays in service, ranging from six weeks for part orders to seven months of service downtime.
* An RV dealer in Vegas charged a $3,995 "Go-Camping" fee, which came with no proper walkthrough, fuel pre-fill, or operational instruction--resulting in a dangerous breakdown 175 miles into the trip.
3. Misleading Fees & High-Pressure Sales
* Fees are routinely marked up. For instance, one customer paid $250 for an electric jack that retails for $150, plus another $250 just to install it--and then another $250 to remove the old crank jack.
* Online promotions often vanish once you arrive, only to be replaced with a significantly more expensive model.
* One customer was charged an extra $1,200 for air conditioner installation after poor preparation by the dealership.
* Another noted different prices online vs. in-store--and eventually got a refund only after complaining to management.
4. Warranty Issues & Routing Around Responsibility
* A customer in Georgia reported a broken refrigerator just days after purchase. Camping World refused to send a service tech and instead directed the customer to transport the camper--in full--across counties themselves.
* Another longstanding warranty case involved repeated delays to submit claims to the manufacturer, slow status updates, and a refusal to offer a completion timeline.
5. Communication -- Or Lack Thereof
* Customers are routinely ignored: messages go unanswered, voicemails unreturned, and service managers unavailable.
.
Personal Testimonials (Verbatim):
"I am now homeless because I bought a new camper... Camping World sold us one with a faulty battery and the leaf spring came off... it's been in their service area for over 7 weeks."
"They are crooks with poor service and the absolute worst customer relations. They will not solve your problems..."
"My purchased camper spent 7 months in the shop... finally said it was fixed. Well it isn't... and now they said we need to pay... nightmare."
What Must Change -- Immediately:
1. Transparent Pricing -- Discontinue misleading markups, sneaky fees, or bait-and-switch tactics.
2. Reliability in Warranty & Service -- Guarantee timely repairs and proactive communication. If a part or service is delayed, customers should be regularly updated--not ignored.
3. Accountability -- Own mistakes--don't shift blame to manufacturers or voyage customers across county lines at their own expense.
4. Customer Respect -- Return calls, answer emails, and ensure service managers are accessible when promised.
5. Ethical Add-Ons -- Stop pushing unnecessary add-ons or installations that only pad margins, not customer value.
Our Demand:
We, your customers and advocates, are done with empty promises. This is not just about improving sales--it's about upholding integrity and trust in Camping World's brand. We ask that you:
* Publicly acknowledge these issues and your commitment to fixing them.
* Implement a clear customer-first policy with measurable improvements, like maximum response times and refund thresholds.
* Offer meaningful gestures (warranty extensions, compensation, price adjustments) to rectify past harms.
You claim to cherish the American dream and the flag--but your customer service record is tarnishing that dream. We're asking for real solutions, not patriotic rhetoric.
Sincerely,
