First of all, I would like to start this review with the fact that you have to make me extremely upset for me to say a bad word about you. Completely the opposite I'm the one who would like to be writing a review, singing someone's praises and recognizing them for their hard work. Unfortunately, that is nowhere near the case here. Camping world has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. And I know a thing or two about customer service as I worked in Customer service for over 12 years. This past spring, we took our RV here because we have a warranty for the paint. the paint was dull and oxidized so we took it in to have it corrected. They agreed that under warranty that the work needed to be done. It was like pulling teeth to get any kind of update for the next 2 to 3 months on the RV. Mind you this was prime season and we wanted to be able to use it. Call after call email after email just a bunch of BS excuses. Come to find out they had painted an RV in the bay next to ours and got overspray all over it obviously making the situation 10 times worse than it wasn't the first place. That all aside my husband agreed that we would take it back to get corrected in the fall after we could enjoy it at least for a couple of months. Fast-forward to this week, my husband calls to tell them we need to get the RV in to fix the things that they had caused. Not only is the paint job, awful and dull now because of them over spraying it and then having to remove the paint however they did that .. now all of our decals are all looking like trash, so they're also supposed to order new decals for the RV. My husband calls this week and the person we have been working with says oh I'm not taking care of that anymore. You're gonna be dealing with so-and-so. This person doesn't even fill the next person in on what is going on and we are back to square one and now this new person is saying, when and IF. WE DO SOMETHING?! NO I DON'T THINK THAT'S HOW IT WORKS. COMMUNICATION IS KEY. YOU ALL NEED TO COMMUNICATE WITHIN YOUR COMPANY AND FIGURE THIS OUT BECAUSE NONE OF THIS IS OUR FAULT AND I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE HOW LONG YOU'LL KEEP THE RV THIS TIME AND HOW MANY EXCUSES WE WILL HEAR OVER THE NEXT MONTHS. Long story long.. I would steer clear of camping world as once they get your business and the sale they don't give two flips about you and you will suffer if you have to get something done to your RV. read more

We had a great experience at this Camping World. Everyone we worked with was very friendly and helpful. We ended up with an unbeatable price for the camper we wanted and their financing options were better than what we could find elsewhere. For a better experience, avoid weekends if possible. We recently purchased a used 2019 Travel Trailer. We love it! We were treated very well. We also purchased some additional upgrades we wanted added & installed: a new set of jacks, more substantial grab bar at the entry door, a slide awning and also (for care/maintenance) had them re-seal the roof. My husband said the the tech did a great job & was timely. Our finance guy (Bryant?) took great care of us as well. Made the whole process very easy & even fun. If you are thinking purchasing an RV, do not go here. We bought a used motor home in March here. There were a few things wrong with it and they agreed to fix as part of the purchase. We had it in their shop 4 times and the last time it was there a month and the problems were not fixed. We are trading our unit in on a new one, and not from them. I have had nothing but problems with trying to get them to fill out forms to cancel our service plans. And don't bother to write the CEO as they list in everything. They may call once but then there is no follow up. We are so unimpressed. read more

I bought a new camper this year, 2018, from RV World in Richmond and it is the worse decision I've made this year. The service is absolutely horrible. I know I've called 15 times and so far have only received 2 call backs. The last call I was on hold for 40 minutes and called back from my cell phone to let them know I was still on hold on the other line. Horrible. Plus they were able to pick my camper (again new) to repair a clean water leak and found there was water damage. So as of right now, they will have my camper for another 2+ months. Nothing like spending $25K for something that break within the first 2 uses and then no access for months. I should get it back by mid winter. I wish they would just keep it and I looked elsewhere. Just purchased a very nice $23k camper...my first. Was told that a thorough inspection was done and everything was great, No issues. 3 days later, we were getting ready for our first camping trip. NO WATER! The valve did not work. I called Camping World Richmond. They said we could bring it back (over an hour drive) or we could take it to another location, also almost an hour away. Our first trip...we had no water, a floor that was sinking,(which they said was normal for $23k), and electrical problems. Yes, I could take it back, drive an hour each way, spend $40 in gas to drop off and pick up. I figured my review would be a better use of my time. DON'T BUY A CAMPER FROM THIS PLACE. They kept my camper for over 3 months to replace an outter door! Took no responsibility for all of the delays, wouldn't buy the door n then get reimbursed by the maker, so they made me wait thru 3 or more levels of suppliers agreed that the door was bad before doing any work! read more

Don't buy the warranty and don't come here for service. A couple years ago we brought our travel trailer in for service. The water heater would stop running after its initial run. You'd flip the switch, it would do its thing and then never run again until you power cycled it. When I dropped our camper off, the guy that checked me in for service walked all through the camper, suggested we repack the bearings and do a slow leak test on the propane line (I was confident a slow leak wasn't the issue as 1. The water heater would immediately kick back on after power cycling, and 2. none of the other propane appliances had any issues). He was obviously up-selling and I told him I wasn't interested. We walked inside and he tried to get me to sign a work order that include the work I didn't want (totaling $600+). Again, I told him I wasn't interested. He then had me sign a corrected work order. When we got the camper back, he said they readjusted the flame sensor. I told them this definitely wasn't the issue, and the needed to look again. They refused, they said they corrected the issue. We went camping the following weekend and of course, the water heater was having the same issue. After some testing, and careful prodding with a multimeter I found that the control board for the water heater was shutting offer after the initial run. I bought a replacement, installed it, issue resolved at my expense. Issue 1. The service department at camping world failed to troubleshoot the issue adequately. Whether this was incompetence, negligence or a willful attempt to undermine my warranty by deliberately ignoring the described issue.. I'll probably never know. But lesson one: don't buy the warranty and don't come here for service. This is a 2 year update review, so on to issue 2. We've started having electrical issues with the camper. After some more prodding with a multimeter, I found very poor continuity in the line between the main DC negative bus and the battery. Upon inspection I found that there was no full length negative battery line. Instead they (Coleman) had wired the negative battery pole to the camper frame, then the camper frame to the negative battery bus. The wire closest to battery, attached to the frame was completely exposed and significantly rusted. Wiggling the wire causes the electrical system to short out. It is my opinion that this design defect resulted in the electrical component of our water heater to fail. Had camping world demonstrated some competency here and actually identified the root cause, they might have been able to fix the issue and possibly raise it with Coleman to fix the issue in future designs. After talking with a number of other people over the years, the near global consensus about camping worlds warranties is this: they will do everything possible to weasel their way out of your warranty. read more

Camping World of Richmond Put down payment on a "NEW" 2020 Cardinal. Emptied our camper to trade in. Drove 5 hours there. The NEW camper is damaged. Both sides have a buckle sticking out. Right side even cracked through. Compartment on side where shower is, was all busted up. Other small things,, but that's expected. You cant tell me no one seen this??They all scramble to make up excuses. They call in bodyman. Oh he can fix it. REALLY? They offer me 500.00 to spend in their store. 500.00 is nothing. Slap in face. They ask if we want to sign papers. Oh heck no. I asked for gas $ since we drove 5 hours. scott says ok, It's been a month. Never recieved $. To repair that, means it's not new. They never offered $ off price. And at anytime it's going to show where they patched it. Also they went thru our camper without asking or telling us they were. Left slides out, doors open. We spent 14 hours That day, put 651 miles on our truck. Gas $. And dont even get , a I'm sorry. Here's gas $, nothing. If you bought a 2020 Cardinal from them. Wow, where do I begin. My only experience to date is with the sales department but that was enough. Was looking for a used trailer, I won't mention the salesman because I believe the way we were treated was standard operating procedure. Every used unit was priced close to the cost of new units, when I said I would look at new, he proceeded to chose "The one" we needed. Camping World in Richmond is a joke. Was interested in trading for a new 5th wheel. Started negotiating and they offered me $9,000 for my RV. NADA suggested trade in price for my RV was $24,000. I told the salesperson I didn't drive 75 miles to be insulted. I walked out. They proceeded to call me numerous times over the next two weeks upping the offer to $18,000. Told them to quit calling me. Traded for the exact same 5th wheel in Kentucky and it was not at a Camping World store. read more

They lied about many things. Once we signed the paperwork all the things they promised were never fulfilled. They secretly mounted a $2,500 paint protection which they DID NOT do. They stopped being friendly after the papers were signed. Tabitha Golliher, the sales representative assigned to us, would barely reply to emails unless we called and pestered. After leaving it in the lot until they did the paint protection, they messed up the automatic steps and we had to leave it again. They promised to deliver it for us to a location near to us so we left. Little did we know, their manager Scott Baker lied to us about that as well. Instead they changed it to a free $250 gift card. Now it has taken over a week to inspect and fix some simple steps and the parking break got stuck to the point where we couldn't take the RV yet again. They said they pushed a button and it worked the next day. While that is possible, it did not resolve the issue and they refuse to look into it. They didn't wash the windows or shampoo the carpets until we mentioned that they needed to do so. The black water and grey water tanks were full and we had to clean them out ourselves. Other people's waste. How could they not clean that out when they take the RV in? There is a leak on one location of the RV but they said it has been taken care of. I highly doubt that. Simply put, I will never deal with Camping World ever again. I will go elsewhere. Also they have had the audacity to tell me they went above and beyond for an AS-IS RV. I could not legally take the RV with the headlights not working. This was their above and beyond. They had to fix some steps they messed up in the first place. read more

My husband and I purchased here this past weekend. We were thrilled with Mitch (our sales guy)! He was beyond helpful, even FaceTiming is while it was pouring down rain to let us see before we made the hour and a half drive to get there. Once there, everyone was cheerful, helpful, and very polite. To ice the cake, they detailed the camper and had a technician show us every feature, how everything worked and they answered any questions we had! We scheduled our RV to be serviced at Camping World in Richmond. They had to order a part, but we were still serviced quickly. When we came to pick it up, we noticed an additional problem. Rather than them telling us to leave it and come back again; they quickly fixed the problem so we would not have to make the 2 hour + drive back/forth. The manager routinely checked on the progress of repair with the service tech and kept us in constant communication. They went above and beyond. My only experience with them is the body shop. They have done a superb job each time I have had work done. They have done work in a timely manner. I drive 50 miles past another RV store to have work done because I don't have to wait 50 days for an appointment to drop my unit off so that they "may" work on it in another 2 weeks. read more

Ever-thing I asked to be worked on was not fixed had the camper most of the winter, had a ski lite replace it leak , had a small leak under the sink fixed it leaked .battery was dead when I came to pickup the camper . Where do I start. Found a used RV at this Camping world, which is about 500 miles from our home that we were interested in. The salesman I worked with was wonderful in communicating with us and answering all of our questions about the unit. We decided to buy, arrived at an agreeable trade in price for our RV and drove out there. There had been a issue with some of the decaling on the RV we were purchasing so it was taken into their paint shop to be fixed. We arrived only to find out that the decaling was not done to the General Managers satisfaction and he wanted it done. We went ahead and did the paperwork to purchase the new unit. Camping world paid for a rental car for a week so we could go back home, sprang for a hotel room and knocked some off the price of the RV. We returned the following week as we were told the RV was done and needed to just go to service and detail. When we arrived, after leaving for Indiana at 4:30 am, we were informed the RV was not ready yet. We waited for another 3 1/2 hours before we were able to head home. During the drive home we discovered some issues that should have been addressed during the service of the vehicle that we paid almost $1,700 dollars for. We took it in to one of our local RV repair shops and spent additional money to correct those things that should have been fixed during the dealer prep. We contacted the General Manager at this Camping World with and itemized copy from the RV repair shop and he was wonderful. Agreed that the items we identified should have been found and fixed. Camping World reimbursed us for almost two thirds of the dealer prep fee for those items that should have been fixed. I have heard many horror stories about the customer service from Camping World but this one was responsive and if I need to purchase another RV I will definitely begin there. read more

Recently I purchased a used Tiffan Allegro Bus in June. My experience was the worst I've ever had. I should of just left after waiting 2 hours for a salesperson to help me with the purchase , I guess a $110,000.00 sale just wasn't that important on a Wednesday. After spending almost 7 hours at the dealership , I finally was told the unit would be ready on Friday. Before leaving it was agreed that there were a few items that would be repaired before picking up. After calling on Friday morning to confirm the coach would be ready, I was told it was ready for pick up and I had an appointment for pick up at 5 pm. on Friday night. Upon arriving on Friday after driving 4 hours to get there, nothing was ready for pick up. My appointment to do the paperwork at 5pm. did not happen til 7:30. After spending the night , I then requested the items be repaired , that was at 8am on Saturday with the salesman. After being lied to about the exterior paint protection being applied that I paid almost $2000.00 for, I had to go to service department to confirm they did not apply after being told twice by salesman it had been done. Finally after several arguments with staff ,I was ready to leave except for one item that I was given an i.o.u. for a part. I finally left dealership at 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon. Since then I discovered that they put the wrong address on part of my paperwork for extended warranty. I called the dealer on july 26th to see if i.o.u. parts are in and was told they never got ordered. The person I talked to said they would call me right back with an answer and never called back. I called again on Tuesday and was told someone would call me right back, once again , no one called back. I can't imagine why anyone would purchase anything from this dealer. Even after talking to employees at this dealership , they agreed that all aspects of service are bad. BUT THEY DID SAY THEY WERE SORRY THAT EVERYTHING IS SO BAD. I was told this week that there is a new general manager and they hope things get better. GOOD LUCK. read more

Amended 7/22/2019 to three stars, because they are working on making it right. The (new) Service Director of Camping World, Richmond, IN, contacted me as a result of this review. He offered to try and make our experience with Camping World right. He stated that what we experienced would not be acceptable in his service department. While he can't roll back time and relieve the frustration/aggravation we experienced, he did make some offers that will go a long way towards making us "happy campers." We will be receiving a refund for a portion of the prep fees that we paid and in addition he also offered to do a walk through with us and correct all the warranty issues we are having with the camper. While the warranty issues are not the fault of Camping World, it will be nice to have them all corrected at the same time - during our off season. It is our hope that we will walk away from the warranty repairs with a new attitude towards Camping World's service department. Look for additional updates as that happens. As the Service Director, it is not his place to address the title work issues, but it is our hope that someone will. There is no reason to argue that you know more than the BMV when it comes to title work. read more

9 minutes ago My wife and I purchased a 2019 heartland pioneer Rg26 From Camping World Richmond Indiana. On Wednesday the 22nd We went camping that Saturday for the first time only owning the camper 3 days to find a large water leak. LED light under awning not working a rip in the kitchen screen along with a few other things that need fixed. Unhappy we emailed our salesman Jeff Cook who never responded to us. Service Manger Trent reassured us that everything will be fixed. They came picked up our NEW camper Monday and said all the leaks are repaired and they pressure tested the unit. Delivered it back to us for us to find a large gap in the rear door of this toy hauler. And they removed our power cord so we can not connect to a power box. Once again A HUGE FAIL with the service. "Those prices are only if you use our financing, other wise you tac an extra $1000 on if you use your own financing". "Because we get kickback from our financing institution." I would give a zero if I could. I bought a new 2017 RockWood high wall camper in August and gave a list to the service department in September they order new parts. In October I sent them a list of 18 items that needed to be addressed. November 11th 2016, I dropped it off. Last week they said it was ready for pickup. I went down 4/22/17 and only 4 items fixed. Worst experience EVER. WADE is a slimball sales manager. They broke our unit before we even left the lot. They never secured the steps properly and they fell out on the highway. blamed us for tampering lol. Made an appointment to get the stuff they broke fixed took 4 months and they ended up breaking more and they never ordered the parts they said they were ordering. blamed it on parts.... service manager straight up told me his service guys say they will order parts and never do. They were supposed to fix indoor stove. kept messing with the outdoor stove and broke that to were we couldn't even use it. they did pick up unit and fix that for us. they left dirt and metal shavings all over inside and grease all over white canvass on the inside. None of this was of any interest to anybody at the dealership. the only way to get people to talk to you is to call Marcus at his number because they actually call them. Service manager told me to email pics to him and he would send me his email...... still waiting 3 weeks later. They out a battery in our unit that can't even power the lift up and down.. We had to leave Camp this past weekend and spend over 130 dollars for a new battery. this unit was purchased brand new in Aug of 2019. so no way the battery should be dead. talking to people they put the cheapest and littlest RV battery on. Our salesman scott was very nice. but from then Wade and the GM pat and service has pretty much been a joke. I would stay away and read more

Here we are and another week has gone by and we still don't have our camper fixed. We took our camper in on July 17th for warranty work and the camper is still not fixed. Nothing but excuses. Parts should have been ordered weeks ago. WE want to go camping. This is the best time of the year, yet our camper sits on Camping Worlds lot waiting for parts. No one can give us an estimate of completion. Just excuses after excuses. Don't buy from Camping World and if you do, never try to get warranty work done within a reasonable amount of time or you will have nothing but frustration! Horrible experience. As a previous reviewer said, their used units are priced close to new ones. So commence the mandatory negotiation games to get it down to realistic market value. When is the RV industry going to enter the 21st century and stop with the over-inflated MSRPs and nonsense pricing games? But that happens at a lot of RV dealers so I digress. Anyway, I drove 530 miles each way to pick up the RV I negotiated on. I'm not going to get into all of the nitty gritty here, but certain details were omitted and certain things weren't working properly upon delivery. It felt like the sales rep and sales manager just did whatever they could to get me out the door as quickly as possible so they could carve another notch on their sales headboard. They came across as the quintessential sleazy used car salesmen and I do not feel like an appreciated customer at all. When you leave the lot in your new coach you're supposed to be excited and happy but I was just pissed off. So now I have to take it to my local Camping World to clean up their mess. I can't speak for other Camping Worlds, but my advice is avoid the Richmond, IN location and go somewhere else. read more

Had a new awning installed after wind damage. Had trailer for 2 months to put power aening on. Just now went to use it for the first time and it doesn't work. Have contacted them 3 days straight to ask questions about it and had to leave messages. No one will return my call. Very poor customer service and workmanship. read more

Beware. Once you drive off the lot with your unit, they take NO responsibility. It will take you forever to get warranty items completed. Their favorite excuse is "they are waiting for approval from the manufacturer". Look, Camping World excepts these units from the manufacturer in the condition that they are in. We buy these units from Camping World, not the manufacturer. Camping World is responsible to make sure that the warranty items get done. It shouldn't take MONTHS. And, after you drive off the lot, expect NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. They don't care. read more

Posted a review in November 2017 about a new camper we purchased at that time. We were so dissatisfied we also filed a complaint with the State of Indiana. We have had service needs since then and service work was also dissatisfactory. Several calls with no return calls, long periods of time (greater than 2 months) with the New Camper in the shop. These people have an over-inflated idea of how "valuable" their service people are. I kid you not...they want $129 an HOUR for their service techs. ROFLMAO!!! Seriously! hahahahaha $129 an hour! ok ok....so, like that's the price of a highly trained/certified welder-fabricator..or someone with a PH.D.! After I got done laughing....I LEFT. I took my vehicle and wiring problem up the road to a HORSE TRAILER DEALER and had the issue fixed in 42 minutes for $30 (savings of $100!!). So...my advice to anyone considering going to Camper World to get repair work done...there are OTHER places that have techs with the same general knowledge who can fix your problem. Camper world is a CORPORATION with multiple locations. Therefore, you are stuck with corporate pricing and price gouging. I suppose they have a captive audience in the senior citizens who just want their RV fixed to get back on the road...but I sure hope that other people start considering options instead of paying this extortion pricing. Also, just as an aside, I took photos of some of the camping gear/pricing in their store and found the same exact items on Amazon for substantially less money. I even found one item at Walmart for almost 50% less. Bottom Line -- Shop somewhere else and get your service done somewhere else too. read more

Update 08/17: If the salesman and walk-through guide(?) had been under oath they'd be guilty of perjury. I'd give a negative review of this establishment if yelp would let me. I bought a used travel trailer from here in late April and would not recommend going here to look, much less buy. Why I went here to begin with; I had requirements for what I wanted and after (insufficient) research (I should've checked out the dealer) this was the closest dealer with an online advertisement that met them. It didn't have a battery because as the salesman explained it was stolen on the lot, so I thought 'Great, I'll get a new battery.' Not so great, instead of selling me the trailer 'as is', they put the parts and labor in the walkthrough and added it to the overall cost of the trailer. Which is bulls*** because: parts are overpriced by 10-15% and I'd never pay someone their full hour rate to simply connect a battery. And to top that off, when I did pick the trailer up, the battery was dead. And speaking of the walkthrough, that cost was not listed as a separate charge but buried in the overall cost of the trailer. But I digress; I understand this was my first trailer, but that walk through was a joke; a couple hundred dollars to show me everything works? After you've shown me it worked on the show side? As other reviewers have pointed out the pressure; after making a deposit on the trailer by bank card, my salesman tried to get me to go to ATMs to for the rest of the several thousand dollars... Then after making arrangements to return the following Tuesday with the rest of the money, I was called that Monday to see if I would come in to pay the rest and when I said I wasn't able to that I would need to be in the next day -the day arranged- because people's jobs were on the line. When I picked it up, I was given no title or signed bill of sale and was told the unsigned receipt was enough and then no one questioned or verified that I was hooking up to the right trailer as I was leaving. Which honestly, for a place that openly admits to theft on the lot, seems like a bad business practice. As for the title... I understand and I'm sure the WVDMV understands different states have different rules about title and registration time frames, so I wasn't too tore up about being able to have the trailer legal in the timeframe WV allows. That being said, I had to send a letter after 20 days of non-delivery demanding the title or return of the trailer. With the title still not in my possession after 31 days later that week I filed a complaint with the Indiana Secretary of State and Attorney General regarding the non-delivery of title. I also called my salesman, since the sales manager wouldn't return my call or letter, on a Friday and demanded the title by the next Friday or I would be there for a full refund the next Saturday. The salesman tried to claim it was held up by the BMV and they have 45 days to deliver anyways. (A call with the Indiana BMV proved both statements to be untrue, BMV stated that they'd delivered to the dealer and confirmed it's 31 days.) I received the title that Tuesday.
