"We will be your best friend until the moment you write the check then we don't know you" That's the message I got from Camping World in Marion NC (Tom Johnson's Camping Center). In October of last year my wife and I purchased a used "Class A" from Camping World in Marion NC. During the walk around just prior to finalizing the sale a few things were noted that were not working or broken and needed to be repaired. The tech noted these items and stated they would order the items and make repairs so the motor home would function as it was designed to do. We agreed to leave the motor home with them and would be notified when the coach was ready to be picked up. Not another word was heard from Camping World. One month later I called and was told "the wrong parts were ordered and they would be reordered the next day" Again not another word from Camping World. Two weeks later I called and was told "we have been playing phone tag with the manufacturer we will try again tomorrow." Another week goes by with no word from Camping World. The next time I called the excuses restarted with "They sent the wrong parts." I asked that the service manger assigned to my problem to please return my call. Again not a word from Camping World. As a matter of fact as of this date I have never received a phone call from anyone a Camping Word regarding my repairs that I did not have to call and request a return call. I finally gave up on my Service manager ever speaking to me directly and began talking to another manager who was not even involved with my coach. To make a long unbelievable story short, almost 3 months after purchasing this coach I was told it was repaired and ready to be picked up. When I arrived the service manager had someone bring the coach to us and stated "there you go." Because of the "Lack of Truth" in this transaction, I asked him to show me it was working. I don't even have to say it do I. The problem was not fixed and the service manage could not get it to work. I was instructed that they would repair their repair if I could return later. The broken switches inside the galley and the illuminated handle that was broken and noted for repair during the walk around were never repaired (see attached photos of the switches when the coach was delivered to me after nearly 3 months at Camping World for repair). "We will order those and send them to you" was what I was told when I picked up the coach. That was over 3 weeks ago. Do you think I have received anything or even gotten a phone call from Camping World? Nothing! Oh by the way. They had not taken any measures to keep the coach batteries healthy during the extended stay while they were "working on the Motor Home." I had to replace $500 worth of batteries without ever turning the first thing on in the coach. Batteries at 5.1 volts when I picked up the coach. Take my experience and apply it to yourself as you wish. I know I would not buy a first aid kit from the Marion NC Camping World if I was in their parking lot and had just cutoff my arm. read more

Is the worst at customer relations. I bought my unit from there and they are not professional upfront. Since I bought my 5th wheel it has had a new item break every time they came out to replace parts from the last claim. I noticed different tint levels on my "new" unit and placed a claim as they directed. 2-3 months later after not hearing from them I followed up to find that one of my claims denied and they said they will call back regarding the other 2. I asked to be transferred to the General Manager where I explained how unhappy I am from the lack of communication from the service department. He assured me he will fix it and call me back. He never called back, so I had to call the 866 number and file another complaint with Camping World. This seems to be the only way the Marion NC location seems to take action. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CAMPING WORLD OF MARION, they are idiots. read more

I have had nothing but problems with my unit since I bought it brand new from the store. I have called the 800 number for Camping World the main number and they seem to have gotten some thing done. It's still has not been worked on, and now my parts are supposed to be here over a month ago and I find out they haven't even called me because they fired. Audrey got Lauren of the person that does her mobile connections. Rather than calling me, they waited for me to get frustrated and call. I bought a used 2021 camper from this place in June. They completed there end to end "inspection" and everything was working as expected. I get it home, the invertor goes out within a week. $600 to fix and they dont cover. I am filling it up the water tank, and it starts leaking everywhere. Turns out it was installed incorrectly and now has a crack in it. I then have it inspected to see what else is wrong with it. Turns out the caulking that was used on the roof was defective and all had to be replaced. I spent over $5000 in repairs in the first 3 months of ownership. The dealer does not return my emails or calls, and the manufacturer, Heartland, says its not their problem either. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They dont stand behind their products and leave you high and dry just to mke a quick buck. Dont buy here!!! read more

I scheduled my service appointment prior to checking Yelp. After reading some of the reviews I was a little reserved about coming here. I really haven't had a bad experience at any CW I've been to. This place is no exception. We scheduled our service appointment and campground reservation almost 2 weeks out. We found that we were going to arrive a little earlier than anticipated so we just phoned and they accommodated us without any problems. Upon arrival we found that the store and service/campground are at different location. So if this is your first visit for service I recommend calling for directions to this location. It is basically behind the store but but you have to turn down the street that runs behind the store. Went inside to check-in for the campground and was greeted a helped quickly. We arrived at our RV spot and found a nicely manicured property with concrete pad sites. This is one of the nicest parks I've been to. Each site has a concrete pad with a patio and picnic table. The property is gated and they do not have a pool, but there is a nice river that crosses the property. The river has a dock and stairs to the water. We visited the store to find that item we couldn't live without. The store is nicely decorated and has a large clearance section with some good bargains. The staff members that we encountered in the store were great. There was a sales person that saw our little and gave him a Jayco promo toy. Appointment day we arrived at 8am and was helped by our assigned advisor. We were in for some warranty work and sprung another issue on them. They had no problem accommodating our extra issue. We left for the day and received a call around 12 that they had the work completed. I expected it to take the day and a large bill for the work to fix the generator but was pleasantly surprised and reminded why we love CW. read more

We bought our camper here in April 2018. It's a toy hauler so it's meant to haul motorcycles. It's a Forest River. The flooring is simply thick wallpaper. It isn't glued down to the floor covering ripped after putting our motorcycle in the camper. Forest River won't stand behind it. The manager said he was going to discuss fixing it here at Tom Johnson's on a Monday morning and get back with us. He never did. It's been 4 months. We came to pick it up only to find out nothing has been done to pursue repairing it. We are taking it home and canceling the extended warranty. The one year warranty is useless so we assume the extended warranty must be even worse. If you buy here, don't expect much. We're very Update: Alan Good, GM has been awesome responding to our issues. He allowed us to find the flooring we wanted that would meet the expectations of a toy hauler and Tom Johnson's paid for the flooring. We found an exact match of the original color and pattern made of a thicker material that will withstand a motorcycle being pulled in and out rather than the original paper like flooring. We're very pleased. Thank you Alan for helping us with the problem in such a timely manner. You are exceptional and an asset to Tom Johnson Camping World. We'll definitely recommend Tom Johnson's based on this experience. read more

We've stayed at Tom Johnson's campground a number of times. While here this time our AC began having problems (carrier v 12 years old) we decided to replace the unit. They were so accommodating. Got us in right away, had the parts, and Donny did it wonderful job. Branden our service writer ensured that everything was in place to get all the work done. Provided the quote, followed up during the work and completed all the paper work. This was a great experience. In addition, the cafe is perfect with good food, great prices and the friendliest service. With the work and laundry done we'll be leaving tomorrow but we'll be back. I arrived in person with my family to inquire about making a trade deal for a used travel trailer they had in the lot. We were offered extremely low offer for our travel trailer (no surprise). The sales person we got stuck with (Marty Whitener) took me to the sales manager. The sales manager said he would be willing to work a good deal on the cost of the used one we were looking at (they were asking about $8000 above actual value which was also above the price of a new one - same model). He asked that I send photos of our camper (since we didn't have it with us at the time). I sent photos to Marty. After two days of not hearing back, I texted Marty on why we haven't heard anything back. He said he forwarded my email with my comments to the sales manager and hadn't heard back. He proceeded to tell me that he concludes a deal couldn't be reached to satisfy both parties. I never heard back again. I understand the outcome. What bothers me is the lack of communication during the process. It bothers me that I even had to reach out rather than this "professional" letting me know that a deal wasn't agreed on OR even reaching out to try to reach a different deal. It comes across as severely smug and it's not the first time I've gotten this kind of treatment from this particular Camping World. IMO, from my experience and looking at the ratings on here, this Camping World is giving other CWs a bad name and needs a complete overhaul of management & leadership. In conclusion, we were able to make a MUCH better and fair deal with another dealership (not Camping World) in South Carolina. We got a very fair trade allowance for our camper ($8000 above what CW of Marion offered) and a great deal on a brand new camper (over $12000 below invoice). My advice to anyone reading this, from my experiences, stay away from Camping World of Marion, NC (Tom Johnson). Their lack of customer satisfaction needs MUCH improvevent as it, according to my experiences, IS NOT priority #1 or even close. read more

Oh my! I had some repairs done here in 2016 due to some storm damage. For the last two days I've been trying to get a hold of someone on the phone to answer simple question about the roof warranty. I've got some wrinkles coming up looks like air is getting underneath and I just want to talk to someone about it. I keep getting voicemails, people that don't know, people referring other people, etc. UPDATE: They are now saying the radio antenna, which is breakaway design has pulled loose causing the issue. Back in September 2021, I bought my used Class - C RV from Tom Johnson Camping Center. I saw their ad online for a Class - C in my price range. I called and confirmed that it was still available and made an appointment to see it. I got there and checked out the RV, it seem to check all my boxes. I have never owned an RV before and let the Melissa Barrier, the sales associate know this. When we went inside Melissa was informed that someone had put a deposit on the RV. Bummer, but understandable. Melissa showed me another RV, which was more expensive but available. While Melissa went inside to get the keys so I could test drive it, I reviewed the online ad. It seem to have everything, based on the ad. I test drove the RV, and decided I would buy it. I did want to change out the couch for movie style recliners. Melissa, talked to someone and the agreed that they would include the change out of the couch in the price they quoted. I only knew what the ad price was and what the ad said was included. The price they quoted was less than the ad price, which seemed like a good deal. A couple weeks later I went back to pick up my RV and go through their pick up procedure, and through the financing procedure. When I had put the deposit down, Melissa suggested that I use my 3 free nights at their campground to get comfortable with my RV. She made reservations for me in the grass area need the river. I drove over to the RV site and started getting use to my new RV. After sleeping in the RV the first night I noticed that the RV was not level, I felt like I was on a boat. I tried finding the stabilizing jacks, they had been listed in the ad as being on the RV. I texted Melissa and asked where they were. It was late in the afternoon and she wasn't going to be in until Monday so she suggested that I talk to a Sales Manager on Sunday. I walked over the the store and was able to talk to Frank Lenior, the General Sales Manager. He wasn't sure where the stabilizers were, but since I had an appointment for Monday to have final installation of the movie recliners, with the service department, I should check with them. Monday, I stopped by the service center and no luck, there weren't any stabilizers on the RV. I then stopped by the store and talked with Melissa. She called someone and was told to look at the fine print on the ad, they aren't responsible for errors in the ad. I was not pleased when I was told this. Frank came over and said since I hadn't mentioned the stabilizers when I did my walk through that they weren't responsible and the cost of the RV would have been least $6000.00 more. I had no idea what the cost was, they told me a price and I thought it was good and included the stabilizers. He asked Melissa why she had put me in the grass area instead of the cement pad area, which is level ( like it was Melissa's fault I realized something was missing from my RV. I wouldn't have noticed I didn't have the stabilizers if I had been on a level pad. I mentioned that I would be staying in National and State Parks which might not be level. He didn't care. He did offer me 3 nights at the cement camping area. I would leave it at my error, if I hadn't found the original window sticker, which shows that Tom Johnson Camping Center was the original seller of the RV and right on the window sticker it says that the stabilizers were an option and not included. They obviously don't review their ads or don't care that their ads are misleading. Melissa was great, but there wasn't anything she could do. I won't go back!!! read more

I posted a review in January and was quickly contacted by the service department ANXIOUS to resolve my problems. Trailer was delivered to them on January 8. Today on June 8, SIX MONTHS LATER, the repairs have NOT been completed. That is a long time we have not had use of our trailer, trips cancelled, opportunities passed. I have heard every excuse imaginable, when I was able to get a return call at all. Not certain what else I can do as the repairs must be done, but this has caused enormous stress. How many of these reviews will it take before the company takes notice? TIP... I contacted the Camping World "If you're not happy, I'm not happy" team (866-232-8990) and did get attention very quickly, but I don't think even that the corporation can get this location to clean up their act. Bought the 5th wheel 3 1/2 years ago new and it has spent a total of over 1 year in their service department. I would go pick it up to take a trip and then deliver it back. When we arrived, were asked a salesman about it and he told us immediately that he actually sold it the day before, but something about his response did not ring true. As we were walking away he stated "we have an 'xyz' motorhome" and we declined. As we were driving back home, I contacted the store via email. We were told the unit was there...now one of these folks are trying to pull a fast one (the old "bait and switch" maybe??). Either way, we will not be doing business there. read more

Buying our new rv was an ok experience as we bought sticker price. Having warranty work done, however, is a different situation. It literally takes more than a month to get anything done, nothing major. You'll miss camping plans because you can't get your camper back and you'll lose the money when the campground has a no refund policy. It's happened to us and is about to happen again. When we purchased our new motorhome from Tom Johnson in 2019 they were great, Sylvia was very helpful and the service staff walked us through everything with great concern and professionalism. We wrote the check for just over $120,000. Since that day our treatment has been nothing but demeaning. I purchased an additional trailer system from Tom Johnson for appr $4,000, they installed it and it never worked properly, I have taken it back to them 4 times with no improvement, each time they say if it continues to malfunction we'll replace it next time. Service is impossible here, I have had numerous other problems with the unit and never has it been repaired on the first visit. They want to get you out and reschedule causing me another day wasted and many miles driven there and back. If this is what RVing was intended to be, count me out. read more

We contacted Tom Johnson Service Center to have a steering stabilizer and front and rear sway bars installed. DJ in the parts department said that he only had the piston for the steering stabilizer, and we would have to order the bracket kit and both sway bars ourselves online and bring them with us. We ordered the exact part numbers he provided. We were quoted a labor installation cost of $500 to $600 for all three parts. When they began installing, they informed us that the bracket was not working, but confirmed that it was the part number that DJ had given us. They then said that they had another bracket they were going to try. After waiting four hours, Travis who works the service desk said that they couldn't install the steering stabilizer, but would not charge us for that labor. He said they were working on the front and rear sway bars and it would be right at closing time when they would have it done. In the meantime, Travis leaves. When we get the bill at the end of the day, they charged us for the full day's labor, over $1,200, but only installed two of the three parts, which was over twice the amount originally quoted for installing all three parts. The cashier said that she couldn't do anything to change the amount, so we had to pay that amount before we left, assuring us that Travis would call the next day to straighten it out. The next morning when Travis calls, he is now claiming that the mechanic worked all of the hours on the two sway bars. Really?? That makes no sense! When questioned about the huge difference in the previously quoted labor costs, Travis claimed that the parts department based those estimates on a computer program that was very inaccurate. The fact that he deemed this an acceptable explanation is unfathomable. My advice, stay away from Tom Johnson Service Center! We have learned our lesson the hard way and will never give them any more business. read more

Service is a Joke on all levels. I took my class A in for repair of slide, they required entire slide be replaced, turns out it was just a bad motor an upcharge of thousands of dollars! Unethical and Unprofessional, in addition it took 5 months!! While on THEIR lot, the AC both in the cab and the bedroom suddenly has stopped working although not used for 5 months, the motor on the stairs also no longer works. All additional charges and it is not a broken piece but entire systems that have to be replaced??? After taking 12 days to find what needs to be replaced, they may or may not get to it in the next few weeks!!! They have had my RV for 7 months, can I please use the RV I purchased!!! I understand that they are short staffed, I understand there are shipping issues Nationwide, but they cannot/will not even return a phone call, and when I drive up to see them, they behave like I am bothering them because I want an update!!! I would rather have a drunk Uncle Bob work on my RV- he would give better service, better pricing, and a better warranty!! read more

We purchased a used 2006 Class A motor home from here back in August of 2017. Today is Oct. 27, 2017 and we still haven't received our permanent license plate. To say we've had a frustrating experience after the sale would be an understatement. Both my wife and I have called many times to inquire as to what is going on with it and EVERY time we've had to leave a message. Maybe 25% of the time we get a return call. Usually it takes four messages to get one returned call and it has never been from the person we left the message for. Their response of, "If you get pulled over just show them your paperwork from when you bought it. You'll be okay." is NOT the correct answer. Supposedly the tag will be there today, but I'm not holding my breath. VERY frustrated with their inability to be honest about what is going on with the title/tag. read more

We brought our Class A in to have several things fixed. They were able to get us in to have the problems diagnosed within a reasonable amount of time. We went over the details of each problem with our service advisor when the coach was dropped off, it was sent back to the techs, and "diagnosed." The diagnosis was the point that I began to wonder about the merits of my decision to bring my coach to these people. The "techs" found that my microwave was not broken. To show them how to diagnose the problem, I provided a demonstration and, voilla, the microwave was diagnosed as broken. I did not worry about the second misdiagnosed problem, but I do know, without a doubt, that my awning does have a wind sensor. The parts to fix both problems were ordered, the parts arrived in a reasonable amount of time, the coach was taken in for the parts to be replaced, and then it was returned to me with the assurance that it was "fixed." Before driving away, I performed a check of the items that were repaired and discovered that it was not fixed. The vaccuflush system was still not working normally. New parts were ordered, it was replaced again, and is still not working as it should be. Additionally, there was a leak in one of the toilet seals that we paid to have fixed, but wasn't, and so we were told to use shaving cream on the seal and that should fix it. In addition to these problems, we constantly had to seek out the service advisor to check on the status of our parts, repairs, or answers to questions that were previously asked. I understand that they have more than one customer that they must deal with, but the advisor assigned to us rarely followed through on anything. We had to ask several times, over a period of a couple of weeks, just for an estimate to have some body damage repaired. I recommend you go where customers are important. The employees at the Tom Johnson service center clearly show that they are going to get paid no matter how bad the service is. read more

Service center comment: I wanted to drop a note of praise to Chris Stubbs, the lead service rep at TJ Camping World in Marion. We bought a new 2020 Thor Windsport in Oct 2019 and, as we have learned, all new RVs seems to have those 5 to 10 things that don't work as advertised. While I wish Thor quality control was better, I was glad I was referred to Chris by another Camping World for service. Chris really works hard to get it done right within a rather flawed warranty parts and approval process (at least in my opinion). He had our RV for about 40 days but every item was ultimately fixed and he kept us up to date as best he could given some of the issues dealing with Thor and vendors for parts, etc. When we went for the final pickup, he also got us with the Tech (Donnie) who worked all our issues and he walked us through every one of the issues. He educated us on each item and we know we now have the right people to go to if we ever need help again. Just had a HORRIBLE experience purchasing a used RV at Tom Johnsons Camping Center. We were mislead by the service department and flat out lied to by the sales manager following some major issues we had with things that were reported to be in working order, WERE NOT! We drove 4 hours to purchase a used unit and we were treated wonderfully by our sales person. Sales pitch was spot on and customer service via phone and text that week leading up to our travels there was going great. This all began to change the moment we signed paperwork (our mistake) BEFORE we got to try out the camper for free in their campground. Things went down hill fast from there! The paperwork process is SUPER rushed and know we know why! Be advised that their word means nothing and once you sign paperwork they just want to be done with you and move on to the next sucker. If you do decide to purchase ANYTHING from them, make sure you see EVERYTHING work with your own eyes and refuse to sign any purchase paperwork until all repairs are complete and then follow up and make them show you after the repairs are done that it was indeed fixed! They do not like being called out on their flaws either. Funny... I have NOT received any calls or messages from anyone there to follow up with is since we departed. If they ever do decide to call I guess we will then inform them that their service guys NEVER showed back up to complete the work that was promised before we had to leave even though they knew the time line they were working with and the fact that the sales manager told us it would be completed. Again their word here means NOTHING! Once we returned home I had to call the finance manager to inform him that he had the model number wrong on all of our paperwork (including title and lienholder paperwork)and the make and model number wrong on our Good Sam paperwork and was told that this was not a problem as long as the serial number was correct...HA! I used to do title work and knew it indeed dose matter but apparently to them it does not ...just like the customer after they make a sale. I decided to not argue anything else with them and instead I reported to the lien holder when they called to check in with me and they are taking the matter up directly with them and will be my liaison going forward until the title matter is resolved. Said that this was also no the first time they had heard complaints from customers who chose to do business there. read more

I've waited almost a year to post this. Bought our 5th wheel in May, 2018. Sales experience was fine. That's where it ended. When we picked up the RV, we received a "we owe" ticket for a gouge in the closet door. They also put in the wrong TV and gave us the remote to the right tv. A screen was also missing. Unfortunately, that was never in writing, so Camping world never gave us a screen ( Forest River did as a customer courtesy). I waited until after a few camping trips to call about when to bring the camper in for the replacement closet door. I finally called them in August and they had no record of a "we owe" ticket. Luckily, I had my copy. We had a few more warranty issues that I told them about and so I brought the camper in on November 4. Was promised it would be done in 2 weeks. Ha! We finally picked up the camper on December 28 ( we had a trip planned)with the warranty work not done. Parts weren't even ordered until December 4. When we got there, the entry steps were broken! More parts to be ordered. Fast forward to April when all of the parts were finally in. We brought the camper in May 5 and added to the list our whirlpool refrigerator that didn't work. It just stopped working on our last trip. Again, CW promised it would be ready in 2 weeks. To repair the refrigerator, they claimed they had to move the island. The refrigerator repair was made May 31. It took them 10 more days to put the island back. Meanwhile we had to postpone our June 1 beach trip. When we arrived June 8 to pick up our RV ( 5 weeks later), the stairs were not fixed, they had thrown the sink covers on the floor and scratched them, there were gauges in the kitchen table and center island. The island wasn't put back in the exact same spot so when they closed the slide, it pushed against the island. The part that really gets me is the closet door with the gauge was not replaced! They replaced the other one! They assured us they were sorry and not sure what happened but they would fix it, but had to order another closet door ( took 3 months to get in the first time). We also noticed our power cord was missing from the reel, but they assured us they never use customers cords and we must have left it at home. You guessed it, we got home and no cord. I thought my husband was going to have a stroke. They did overnight us one they "found" in the service bay, it wasn't ours- but it worked. So we plugged up power and THE REFRIGERATOR DIDN'T work!!! Immediately called. In 2 weeks we were leaving for 6 weeks to work at a state park as campground hosts. We live 125 miles from this Camping World. They did call a local appliance man who came out twice to try to repair the refrigerator. He believes the appliance guy in Charlotte accidentally welded the Freon tube shut. I called camping world and let them talk with the appliance guy. Meanwhile we had to leave that day ( June 28) to go to the state park to work. Camping world assured me they would find someone in the state park area to fix the refrigerator. It's been 6 days. We have no refrigerator. It's 100 degrees outside. Camping world will not return my calls or my emails. I finally got the serial/ model number of the refrigerator and called whirlpool myself and have someone coming out to the campground next week. The refrigerator repair is not CampingWorld's fault. The lack of communication and customer service is. The sloppy work in their shop ( wrong door replaced, scratched sink covers, gauged table and island) is their fault. All they give me is an "I'm sorry and we'll fix it when you come back". I have cc my emails to Camping world, the service manager and the store manager. It seems no one cares. Here is s list of all of the people I have dealt with at that location. The turn-over at this location is unreal. I have dealt with 14 different people in 13 months. During one visit I asked out tech how he got started in RV repairs. His answer: "my father-in-law is one of the managers and I needed a job". That was reassuring. I read the reviews before we bought 13 months ago. Please, if you read this, don't make the same mistake we did. Find a local family RV dealer in your area. read more

We are visiting here with friends. The campground has no picnic tables or fire pits. Mostly open field, with little shade. Has a cafe with breakfast and lunch with reasonable prices and good food. Good place for service on RV,s.has a well stocked store for RV supplies and lots of R V's for sale. read more

After spending Christmas in Virginia with family, we were returning home to Florida and we encountered an issue with the door side mirror on our Newmar class A motorcoach. It appears that vibration from the rough roads in Virginia (and South Carolina) had caused the top two fasteners on the mirror to strip out causing the mirror to hang precariously by only the bottom two fasteners. Fearing that we would loose the mirror if we continued, we fashioned a temporary repair with 100MPH duct tape and continued. After traveling a little further we realized that the temporary repair probably would not make it the entire return trip to Florida. We searched the Web and found that Tom Johnson is a Newmar Dealer and being only about 100 miles away, may be able to help with a repair. While late in the day and still on the road, we called and spoke to the service manager Chris about the situation. He kindly explained that he may not have the parts necessary to make the repair but told us that he would be happy to take a look at it and either make a complete repair or facilitate a temporary repair that would get us back to Florida. He advised us that they had a campground where we could overnight and that he would take a look at it first thing in the morning. On the next morning we moved from the campsite to the service check-in and Chris and a repair technician took a look at the issue. After evaluating the situation he said that he thought he could make a full repair so we left the coach with him and decided to take the toad to Boone for a short detour. After a couple of hours Chris called and said that everything was done and stated the repair would be stronger than the original installation and quoted the fee for the repair. We found the price to be very fair, and to be honest less than anticipated. We decided to stay one additional night in the campground before heading South again. I was very appreciative that they quickly worked me into the service schedule even though they only had a skeleton crew during the holidays. We also found the campground as a welcome sight and actually had superior facilities to the "RV Resorts" we had spent the last couple of nights at. read more

I had a similar problem with the "new" Tom Johnson service center (Tom sold out to Camping World about 1 1/2 years ago). Both service personnel and sales personnel have since gone down hill. Scheduled a yearly inspection with the service department 3 weeks in advance. Arrived at the center 30 minutes ahead of time. Was told service manager was on vacation; no record of appointment. Re-scheduled for following week. Called ahead to confirm (I live an hours drive away from Marion) and arrived 1 hour early. Was told all the service technicians were busy and couldn't get to my trailer until later that day. Drove off in frustration. Returned the next day. Most of inspection was completed but several items not performed. Fortunately, those non-performed checks were not critical to using the trailer. Swore I would never return. In the years dealing with Tom Johnson when he and his family were running the business, I never had this sort of experience. Well I did a review concerning my experience at the Service Center with Tom Johnson Camping Center/Camping World back in August, 2019, and it was not good. I still do not understand the 7 weeks it took to repair a water leak and the different stories I received from the service center when I called but the management tried to make the experience better. Management contacted me and had no reason for the 7 weeks for the repair but offered me an outstanding gift to help with the bad experience. I was pleased with the offer but I still do not think 7 weeks for a repair is right but I do thank management seeing the trouble and tried to correct. Reviews do work and if anyone has a problem they should use the process. read more

I had the worst customer service experience ever at Camping World in Marion. The manager Franklin Moore all but told me he had enough business this month so he didnt need mine. They insisted on me financing with them when I had guaranteed financing with my own bank. I offered 5000 down on a 9500 camper. They said they could only take 3000??? Who turns down money?? Anyways, they proceeded to run my credit and decline me. Then ran it again without my permission. For cash in hand they refused to budge one penny. I recommend Miles RV center in Hendersonville NC. Their staff were awesome and really knowledgeable got me a camper right away!! read more

First, let me say, that I never post reviews, good or bad. Having said that, I had been a loyal customer of the team in Marion for many years. I live 2 hours away in Tennessee and always chose to make the drive there to purchase coaches, and for all of my service. Purchased our first Motorhome there in 2005 and the last one in 2015. I've always been happy...until now! Took many weeks and phone calls to parts before they finally received what we needed to put a tow package on the front of my new 2020 Jeep. I scheduled an appointment for the installation at 9am yesterday morning, leaving home at 6:30 am. Upon arriving, I was met at the door by Brandon in service, telling me he just received the work order that morning and that I would have to leave the vehicle with them for 3 days. Interesting, since I made the appointment WITH service! After staying there until 11:30 to see if there was a way they could solve this problem, I wound up leaving without being serviced. Really wanted to tow my new Jeep to the beach next week but that option is gone. We have taken many people to their place, who also purchased, but no more. At the least, they should have notified me about this long before I left home. Sadly, we are done with them! This never happened before they were bought out by Camping World. HIGHWAY ROBBERY!! Stay away; went to pick up our RV from the service department today: bill was over 2k! We learned they increased their hourly rate for labor from $99 to $145! The labor easily exceeded the cost of parts! We demanded to speak with someone about our bill; our rep seemed to empathize and used the word "extortion." He reduced the bill by $400. We will not be returning for warranty work or service; there are better RV repair shops in Asheville. Ever since Tom sold to Camping World service has decreased while prices have increased. Marion, NC....DO NOT TRUST !!!!!! THEY ARE SHIESTERS. I cannot even give this 1 star but I have to give something so I can post. We had signed off with a purchase of a new travel trailer and everything was done , we paid our deposit, got a great rate of financing, warranties, package deals, etc. My wife and I clearly made a wonderful communication that we where moving out west and would like a dependable camper for the trip. Well once we arrived at our destination in Utah ten days later, and things were going well. we received a letter, and several threatening messages from Tom Johnson's Camping World that we needed to contact them as soon as possible. We called them only to find out that they had deceived us with the financing. All of those pages of paperwork that we signed with them for the loan and warranties, the final inspection and handing over of the keys were all a fake. They sent us new financing paperwork via email and told us to print out and FedEx it back to them within 24 hours or they would have authorities after us. What kind of way of doing business is this???? If we hadn't of travel with it all the way to the Bryce Canyon, we woud have dropped the trailer right back off with them!!!!! The new financing paperwork was with a totally different loan company than the original company of which they had us sign the paperwork for. They had to drop all the warranties, the interest rate was much higher, and our monthly payments became $126. more a month than what was on our original paperwork. They are DESPERATE for sales and will mislead anyone. This dealer is Not Trustworthy!!!! read more
