This review reflects a series of connected failures, not a one-time problem. I responded to an RV listing advertised at $6,499. The initial quote included a prep plan, which was later removed. Once removed, Camping World Fairmont then claimed I had "denied" the prep plan and used that as justification to refuse a walk-through inspection. Pricing and terms shifted repeatedly. Communication was chaotic. I dealt with multiple sales contacts, unclear authority, and last-minute changes -- including being told the RV was AS IS and required a cashier's check, despite extensive prior communication and disclosure that I was purchasing from out of state. On Friday, December 5, 2025, I was kept on the lot until after 4:30 PM. A hole in my tire was known to staff, yet I was not assisted on-site. Instead, I was pushed to leave as the store closed and directed toward Tygart Lake State Park. I was told to find help elsewhere. I am a Platinum Elite Good Sam member, and this occurred after payment, late on a Friday, in winter conditions. The campground was closed, and I remained safe only because a Park Ranger intervened. Earlier that day, a hitch installation at Camping World Fairmont was followed by electrical failure in my vehicle. After roadside assistance and a tow, the dealership declined delivery and redirected responsibility to insurance without evaluating the issue. I wish I could give them zero stars. They have had our camper for MONTHS. No one calls you back. No one knows what's going on. The turnover is so high you will talk to one person who you think will help you, and then call back two weeks later and they are already gone. They will perform UNAUTHORIZED work on your camper, without your knowledge and then expect you to pay for it. We simply wanted our awning FABRIC replaced. They gave us a quote of $1800. Months later, it's now over $6000 because they decided the mechanical parts needed replaced. No one called us to let us know. No one asked us to authorize the additional work. Now they are holding our camper hostage for work we didn't authorize. read more

Don't buy from these people, they will tell you they stand behind what they sell but that's only until you pull out ! they don't fix anything and if you buy service warranty that doesn't cover anything either so waste of money buying that and waste of money buying anything from this camping world they need their franchise pulled ! read more

AWFUL! we went in just to browse around and see what they had they were closing in 30 minutes so we didnt really have much time and a guy stopped us in the parking lot and asked if we wanted to look at anything specific and i mentioned one i had seen on their website. he showed us where it was and we walked in it we saw it for all of 4 minutes he didn't even put the slide outs out before he had us back down inside with paperwork in our face trying to get us to buy it. we are 18 and 19 years old and he was definitely taking advantage of us because we stated from the get go we were not interested in buying anything today. i honestly have no clue what we ended up signing that was on us but he just made us feel so pressured. and then when we called to see how much insurance was going to be we were quoted $245 a month and we told the guy that we weren't going to be able to afford that and we thanked him for his time. he then proceeded to call both of us multiple times a day for a week straight telling us they got the price lowered by like $5 each time the one guy actually tried yelling at us and telling us that we had already signed paperwork and we were committed. which we had found out the only papers we signed where to run our credit nothing saying we were committed to this. i'm telling you STAY AWAY they will pressure you into something you dont want! however mountaineer rv in jane lew is phenomenal!! they never once made us feel obligated to buy anything it took us 3 weeks to finally decide on one and each time we walked in every one greeted us with a smile. i could not recommend this place more!! read more

I bought a new camper and first time using we went to dump the tanks only to find out there is no hose. I called the dealer and was told they don't leave the hose in it from the factory. no one told me this when I bought the unit. as you can imagine I'm not happy this the last one I will buy from camping world and have been a customer since they were brand trailer sales. this unit was bought at the fairmont wv. location. read more

We found the perfect camper for us and Camping World made it happen even with our not so great credit. Everyone was polite and friendly. I have only 2 cons to list. 1. Standing. Standing and walking for the tech to explain everything. Standing to talk to the service lady. Standing while waiting to talk to finance. 2. The amount of SELLING that they try to do! No, I don't want to tour your retail store and be bombarded by items that are recommended. But, that's what they tried to do. This was after the camper sale was done and, of course, we must have $2000 worth of accessories and add-ons! Right? WRONG!! I told the salesperson that I was overwhelmed and tired. He kept on trying to sell. I turned to my husband and said, "I'm getting very stressed and about to cry." He was also tired and upset. He took me by the arm and guided me outside so I could get some air and some quiet time. He went back in and paid for the couple of things that we wanted and came back outside with me. I was just livid that I was getting so upset and the salesman just kept on trying to sell. Also, Good Sam is a joke. $258 per year for insurance. Our State Farm is $120. If I could leave 0 I would... I purchased my trailer and when I went to sign the paperwork they had several of us waiting for hours because it was the last day of the month.... When I was finally called into sign I agreed to the paint fab and warranty, but when my trailer was delivered and I made entry a couple weeks later it was filthy, missing parts, and water damage in the bathroom.... Brand new 2022 trailer missing parts and was supposed to be detailed.... Now I have been fighting with them to make this right and nothing.... I had to YouTube my trailer since the individual who did my walk through didn't know how things worked.... Just don't shop there is all I can say. BBB and attorney now.... If you really wanted to make this right then Lindsey in corporate and Allison in Fairmont would have done so by now.... Done Being ghosted by both.... Like I said now on to BBB and attorney... both have been contacted. You guys are a joke!!!! read more

Stay Away. To many other places to purchase a camper nearby to waste your time here. Was so-so as Trailer City and fell off the cliff as Camping World. My pervious camper was either in the shop or at the manufacturer for over 9 months in the second year of use. Dealer barely lifted a hand to seal with the manufacturer and our issues got lost in the shuffle as they transitioned to Camping World. Against our better judgement we purchased a new camper on trade in (tired of waiting for it to be fixed). Camping World gave us a decent "deal" but no favors given for past poor experience. Still we pressed on. Transaction with Camping World was around New Years (Winter) and thought all was good. No water tests completed during the walkthrough since it was "winter" and to my knowledge it was winterized at the manufacturer as the sticker inducated sibce it went from the lot to inspection, off the lot, and into my storage. Fun experience on our very first use in DC as it was never winterized by the dealer after they aparently pur water in it at some point and didn't tell us. Spent all weekend in DC fixing major leaks. I expected a leak or two or something not working right but not a flood and all fixtures and pump broken. Requested reimbursements from Camping World on at least the parts / time and it's going on 7 months and all they can tell me is thats it's been turned in to Corporate. They took it in quick after DC but all they did is replace a faucet I couldn't find in DC, check the leaks I fixed over the weekend, and ordered a door/door knob that just got fixed 6 months later. If you want to test your patience, this is the place to go. Can't imagine a poorer performance from a dealer. read more

Was shopping for a travel trailer and stopped here today. Spent over 2 hours looking at campers. Pros: Salesman was terrific, staff made you feel welcomed and had a significant inventory. Cons: Campers were so spread out the salesman couldn't find some of them, all were locked unless staff unlocked them, was told a price outside, then came inside to discuss and price was significantly more plus there was s ale that wasn't explained to us until they ran the numbers ( seems fishy) and certain charges seemed unethical at the time( over $2k-prep fee, etc). I purchased a camper down the road that didn't have any of the charges mentioned and had a smooth transaction. read more

0 stars. Our experience was nothing like I have ever dealt with. The camper we liked and wanted to purchase was in our price range ,with using our camper as the down payment. Our camper is in excellent condition ( 2017 19 RL puma Palomino). We owed $2,500 left on our camper, so we knew that would be taken off the top. They wanted to give us $8,600 for our camper , that was all well and good with us. The camper we wanted was on sale for around $20,000. With our camper as down payment it was going to be ( about ) $14,000. When he came back with our paper work let me tell u. 1st off all but $600 went to the fees ( transportation fee, paperwork fee, cleaning fee, every fee they could put on they did) 2nd of all we told them that the camper was our down payment, Yea right . When doing the paper work he just so happened to put down our camper and $7,000 was our down payment ( so he dod not listen). We had to tell him again NO CASH! When he came back with the amount he was going to charges for the camper that was on sale for 20,000 and our camper , our total loan was going be $20,000. Now how the hell. My husband told them no way. We got the " Well ( a bunch of shit). A few week later they called us back and told us that they could get us in the same camper minus all the fees. Ok well how much? The camper is no longer on sale and it is about $7,000 more. Long story short it was still going to cost us $20,000. All they do is lie and sneak in every fee they can and then tell you that they won't charge fees and jack up the price to cover the so called no fees. DO NOT recommend. read more

If I could give zero stars that's what I'd give. Worst experience ever with buying a travel trailer. I've been lied to. An attempt several times to manipulate numbers on documents. Long story short. Brought my camper in for service due to an accident. They had my trailer 10 months. That place is a mess! To say the least. They have new people working there and it's no better. Good luck of you attempt to buy or trade your rv/camper. Just watch what your signing. read more
