Babbling Brook RV Park - Site 9 on the raging river.

The live band and party the owners put on was really nice. However, the site we reserved was rented out (there was a particular reason for reserving that site) so they placed us elsewhere. Would've been ok, but, we were next to long term campers that were not maintained and all of their stuff was strung out. We stayed there for 4 days and no one showed up. The grass was overgrown underneath their rig, allowing mice but they were kept at bay by the snakes we found slithering in the tall grass under the camper. The service truck that those neighbors had was parked in the roadway and on our site which made parking, pulling in, and pulling out difficult. Again, it too didn't move so thankfully the campsite was cleared out by the time we left. The campground is also on a slope and the way that the sites are positioned, septic lines will be dumping uphill. This won't be a problem if your dump station is in the front of your RV. Access to the river is limited unless you're of the mindset of no campsite etiquette, which there was plenty of (not the fault really of the owner). There are, however, DEC access points to fish the Salmon relatively nearby which was nice. If this was a $25-30/nite site then ok, whatever, but it's not.

Minimum 2 night stay and while you stay there, you can have free access to the day use state parks such as Sandbar State Park (not dog friendly) or Niquette Bay State Park (dog friendly) to name a few. We stayed on site 76 which was big and open. On a packed weekend, this site won't give you much privacy like the other campsites but it makes up for location - near the bathroom and water spigot, nature center, playground and beach. This and the others next to it would be a good site to reserve as a group of friends who are looking to go camping together. When we went, it was raining and so we went to the nature center where the staff there was very inviting and engaged our 4 year old to do an activity. Great spot for the kids to do indoor activities if it rains. Beach is a rock beach (no sand) and a great view of the water. I do wish it was sand but we still managed to have a good time in the water. Also the playground was very updated and my daughter enjoyed going there whenever she can. Everyone, including staff and campers, were all so nice there. It was our first time camping here and the staff explained everything to us and even offered us some free produce that they had. Firewood $6 (fairly dry), free kindle wood, ice $3.

Just the drive here makes it worthwhile, even better if you can do it in the daytime and without rain. Add to that nice secluded little campsites, functional shower facilities, swimming at the beach, sporting equipment and bike rental, and (get this!) actual pleasant human beings for staff and you basically have a perfect idyllic getaway. It's dog friendly, a quick drive to Burlington, and surrounded by other local attractions. I was only here for two nights, but I hope to return someday. Maybe it was just the campfire-grilled steak and corn on the cob, or the way the sun looked setting over the lake, or all that fresh almost-Canadian air, but I think I'm in love. I can has more vacation days? You can even book your site online, where they have a interactive map with photos of each location. Seriously. best. campground.

Another time I wanted to go backband stay again, I tried to call and get a price on a cabin and it took him days to get back to me. By then, we didn't want it anymore. This is mostly older Canadians, or people passing through on fishing tournaments, etc. Not very many locals at all. The lot sizes are relatively small so I hope you get along with the neighbors. The roads are full of bad potholes that have been that bad for a while. They are slowly fixing then luckily. There is a speed limit of 5mph, practically walking speed, and if you go even 1mph over, someone is guaranteed to scream at your car. There is a pool that they say is heated to 80, but there's no way that it's heated that high. It's freezing. The entire piece of land is swampland, when it rains it floods pretty bad. With a little more upkeep and better management, this place could be so much more. But its mostly Canadians keeping it going

First,…read morethe office is only open from 9am to noon, so you boondockers , come in after noon and leave before 9am and they will never even know you were there. There is a septic smell all day long from the faulty septic system. The water tastes like the runoff from a chemical plant, it foams when you pour it in your glass from the tap, you can't drink it or cook with it, its only good for flushing your toilet. If you want a picnic table or fire ring, you better pick a site that has one, only about half of them do, otherwise you have to steal one from another site, or, if a seasonal, you have to buy one. The laundry is a JOKE !! You put your money in and SOMETIMES something happens and sometimes it does not ?? Most of the sites have not seen any new gravel in 20 years. They have firewood for sale ( if you are lucky enough to have a fire pit ) but ONLY if you need it between 9am and noon. They have a propane set-up but nobody to run it. The web site is VERY misleading, don't be looking for a nice pond with a fountain, it does not exist. The manager is VERY dishonest, he will lie to you every chance he gets. The heated pool is heated to 78* , not my idea of heated. Do yourself a favor, pass this one by.
