We wired the firm $30,000 for the first 6 months (yes it's an expensive property advertised as very upscale) and even spent $3,000 on mitigation for the home after mold was found. All of this was done in good faith and after having extensive conversations with the agent. When we finally got here with ALL of our belongings, we found the home in total disrepair. The previous tenants had completely trashed the house (of course those photos were not used on the listing) and the house was fully neglected. We have now had our belongings in this house for over a week, have our two babies here, and are needing to work etc and STILL the work has not been done to bring this house into baseline rental condition. After sending the money to the firm, communication with the agent began to dwindle and once we got here and saw the condition of the house - it's been a week and NO word on when or even if they will bring this house to a decent standing. It's atrocious. I found a cockroach in the kitchen today. There were ZERO working smoke detectors and no carbon monoxide detectors. Lights were out throughout the house. Dirt on the walls. Nails and picture hanging a throughout. Dents everywhere. Lopsided hanging hardware left on windows. The previous tenants belongings in the bathrooms. It's very hard to not believe they took our money and knew we weren't going to see the house so why do any work at all. The agent even dared to say that enough work was done on the mold that they didn't want to bother with the rest! Here is the rest in photos and this is only a fraction of what's going on here. Freeman Webb of Nashville should be absolutely ashamed. I've documented issue after issue and been met with delays, neglect, or flat-out silence. Maintenance is clearly untrained, unprofessional, and totally unprepared to handle even basic repairs. It's been weeks of extreme heat and suffering in my own home because no one did their job. To the owner of The Retreat: your greed is showing. You clearly have no concern for the people living in these units -- only the rent checks. You're okay with tenants living in unsafe, uninhabitable conditions as long as your pockets stay full. Stray cats roam freely. Bugs are constant. Plumbing is trash. HVAC barely works, if at all. And the staff is either stretched too thin or they just don't care. This place is a scam, and nobody should have to pay to live like this.
