I…read morerecommend this Vets to anyone, the owner Doranne Ashley is the main vet and surgeon, and this lady knows her stuff. She is so very kind to the animals, even when they do not want to be her friend, and a bonus she is very understanding with silly pet owners like me. As you would enter Ashley's you may be greeted by vet nurse Kim who is excellent at her job, where she meticulously goes about the filling your complimentary lifetime vet history card to fill in on every visit. They will always remember you here and your pet by name which is really quite rare in this day and age even at a vet centre. They are ever so friendly, and will squeeze you in and stay late if you are really in trouble with your most precious pet. Ashley's is the best place you could ever take a four legged member of the family for first class treatment from start to finish. A little point of advice, try not to make your appointment at rush hour because roads on to this vets can get very busy around that time. Do not let this put you off, it is worth the wait and the travel time just for that piece of mind.

Took wee Stimpy here for his free initial kitten check up. The journey there wasn't great, had a…read morevery unsettled kitten in his carrier. We arrived early and were taken in early, so the wee chap was glad to get out of his carrier. The girl on reception was really friendly, so our first impressions were great. The vet we seen, Susan, was really lovely. She weighed him, checked him all over, asked lots of questions about his behaviour, age etc and seemed genuinely interested in his well-being. She gave us free worming and flea treatments, which is fantastic and got him booked in for his first vaccination. Was given an appointment card too, which is handy for someone as forgetful as me. She was very patient with Stimpy's running around, trying to jump off the table and squirming. She also gave us advice on how much cover we should make sure we have, insurance-wise. They have a selection of pet things in a glass cabinet at the reception, didn't pay much attention to the prices, will have a look next time. There were collars, cat litter, sprays etc. The surgery is super clean and bright. Can't say I'm looking forward to putting Stimpy back in his carrier and watching him get a vaccination, but knowing that this is such a great surgery and that Susan is such a caring person really helps. The poor old feline has since passed away, but we are back at Hyndland again with two kittens we welcomed into our home last week. The kittens are both boys and they were in today for that dreaded surgical procedure...you know the one! To cut a long story short (sorry, horrible pun), everything went really well and the staff at the clinic kept in touch with us throughout the day about how they were getting on and when we would be able to come pick them up. When we did get them early this evening, they looked fine, if a bit dazed, and I felt like they had been well looked after all day long. It's not the easiest procedure for a couple of kitties to endure, but at least they had it done at a good place. The clinic is very busy and always well-staffed. It would be nice to see one dedicated vet each time we visit, but I realise that's just not possible in such a popular clinic. Regardless, we have consistently been pleased with the care our furry friends receive, and the rates for normal procedures are quite reasonable. I'm happy to know that our kittens have a reliable place to go for their vet services and I'd recommend them to anyone in the area. There are other vets closer to where we live, but we travel the extra distance to the Hyndland Surgery because of the excellent care they give.

I'm very sad to say that one of my little cats broke his neck recently and was referred to this hospital for treatment. The reception area is impressive and immaculate and there is a separate waiting area for cats and dogs to minimise the stress caused to the animals while they are waiting to be seen. In the cat waiting room there were heated pads to sit your cat on to help him relax and feel more comfortable while he's waiting to be seen! I wish people were treated as good at hospitals! My cat's initial consultation was with neurology specialist Maria Ortega and she is an absolute angel. You can check out her qualifications and experience on the Glasgow University website. She asked an abundance of questions about my cat while giving him a thorough physical examination and concluded that she would need to perform an MRI scan as well as x-rays to see the extent of the damage to my little guy's neck. I left him in Maria's capable hands and went home to sit nervously by phone. A few hours later Maria called to say that she could confirm that my cat had broken his neck and that he was coming round fine from the anaesthesia. She explained in great detail the operation she would have to perform on my cat to give him a chance of being able to walk again. It involved putting plates and screws into his little neck. Maria said she would operate on him the very next day. She called me the next day right before the operation to give me an update on how he was doing and to give an estimated time of when the surgery would be completed. She then phoned after surgery to say that it had went very well and then phoned again a few hours later to say that my cat was awake and that he had started to move his limbs again. I certainly can't fault the level of communication! Maria phoned every day for the next 3 days to tell me how my little boy was doing. She gave loads of details about what he had eaten, how his limbs were moving and how he was behaving. On the 3rd day she said he was doing so well that I could come in and visit him the next day if I liked. I literally had my coat on and was about to go out the door when she called again with bad news. She said my cat had caught pneumonia during the night and died. She had received a call from his nurse (he had his own dedicated nurse 24hrs a day) and she had rushed into the hospital to try and save him. She tried for 3 hours but eventually had to just let him pass away. I was absolutely crushed and devastated that my adorable 1 year old cat had died but I simply cannot fault the Small Animal Hospital or Maria. I have no doubt in my mind that he was given first class care 24hrs a day. It was so comforting to have Maria phone so regularly and it was excellent to be able to talk to the person who had physically operated on him. I only ever had to deal with Maria and didn't get calls from receptionists or nurses who may not have been able to give us the level of detail that Maria did and she could answer the many questions we threw at her directly! Everything was taken care of so quickly. As soon as my local vets referred my cat to the hospital we were given an appointment immediately and it all happened so quickly from then on. There was no waiting around to find out what exactly was wrong with him. He had his MRI scan and x-ray the same day we brought him into the hospital and he was operated on at the earliest opportunity possible after we'd been given his diagnosis. Overall my cat's treatment cost over £6,000 which gives you an idea of the kind of state of the art equipment which is available for the vets to use at the Small Animal Hospital to be able to rack up a bill that high!! Thank goodness for pet insurance!!

Ever since…read morewe got him over a year ago he's had terrible breathing problems, but we never thought much of it because it doesn't appear to be bothering him. Eventually we decided we should take him to the vet to see what was up. They took X-Rays and what not and sent them to here, and they told us they thought he had polyps and asked us to bring him in. We brought him in on Tuesday for a consultation and I was so impressed by this place. It's a beautiful new-looking building with an immaculate reception and loads of little consultation rooms off it. There's loads of other services as well they offer, other than just respiratory, such as oncology, haematology, neurology etc, and there's a cafe upstairs. I wish humans were made to feel as welcome in our hospitals as animals do at this place! Toby's consultation was with Brigite De Lima Dantas, who was absolutely outstanding in her care with him. He was taken in on Wednesday and we got him back yesterday, and despite her telling us she's not 100% sure it's been fixed, I'm glad that she's honest with us and that she's still working on his case to see what can be done. We were personally phoned by Brigite, which I love, because you're dealing with the person who's actually directly involved in his operation and his case, not nurses or other vets. I cannot fault this place on their level of service. Thank God for pet insurance though, or I'd be £3,000 out of pocket!

Do not take wild animals here!…read more We found a poorly crow in the park lying on its back. The crow couldn't fly so we took it to this clinic. The clinic staff informed us on the phone that they would transfer it to the local wildlife rescue centre. The rescue centre was a 30 minute drive and we didn't have a car otherwise we would have done it ourselves. We called the clinic again two days later and found out that the crow had been put down. They said that the crow still wasn't flying and the vet decided to euthanise it. We asked what tests they did and they said that they lacked the resources to do anything thorough. Moreover, the rescue centre called us and told us that they hadn't been contacted by the clinic about the crow. The crow should have been transferred to the rescue centre with the proper facilities, like the staff told us they would do.

We now know the vets by name and have a great relationship with them, which has continued on with our new cats. All the staff always appear to be really interested in all the pets and their "owners", taking care of everything from cats & dogs, to some of the more unusual animals that people keep now a days. A few years ago they expanded the surgery so that they could add more vets and consulting rooms, however their standards have remained high, the staff are always friendly and the place is always busy.

So a trip to the main Practice and their she was in all her Purple Glory Madonna (eyes like a Hawk) Livingston! That's my Nickname for her as she miss'es Nothing! Madonna then got the 50 questions from me! I had learnt by this time to vet my vets to make sure they knew their stuff with regards to exotic's My first question to her was How much penicillin would she give a guinea pig who weighed 800 gram's and had a URI and urinary tract Infection! she gave the the now famous Madonna Look and told me that penicillin would more than likely Kill a guinea Pig and made the correct diagnoses with Baytril I then fired off a few more non trick questions and Madonna answered them faultlessly! when then had a nice chat about the exotic pets she had had over the years! I knew by the end of the chat i had found My Life long Vet. While I have focused on Madonna she has made it her mission to train any new vets in the practice up to her standard! He did the same for our Bearded Collie when she had Pyometra. All of these incidents happened during the night or on the weekend and Jim operated on the spot. He's referred us to the Vet Hospital on a few occasions when our dogs have needed more involved intervention. We cannot thank him enough for all he's done and continues to do for our dogs. I like it here, my dog isn't so sure but thats nothing out of the ordinary, in the sigt of any vet he will collapse on the floor and refuse to move. Fortunately Pets'n'vets know exactly what to do to entice him in and make the whole process as comfortable as possible. I can even go here on Sunday!! Which is perfect for me with such a tight schedule. I have never known another vets that is open on a sunday, so thank you pets'n'vets.
