I had the misfortune of having my beloved dog registered at Campbell & Galloway. Thankfully it wasn't long before I realised he would not be cared for here, far from it, which resulted in me moving on to find a respectable and reliable practice, before any real damage was done.
During my short time visiting Cambell & Galloway I was insulted and misadvised in relation to nutrition, as I was in relation to medicines and perhaps of most concern, their ignorance and arrogance resulted in my beloved dog having to undergo unnecessary tests and treatment. Time was also spent away from home for said unnecessary tests, all because the vet thought my suggestion to what had caused symptoms in my pet wasn't worthy of consideration. This arrogant and ignorant stance also resulted in said vet over looking the data produced by their own testing and the aforementioned unnecessary treatment being administered.
A short time thereafter I again questioned the results and treatment only to have the vet admit the has made an error, unbelievably no apology was forthcoming, what I was met with instead was a number of attempts to excuse their incompetence but it doesn't end there, if only! I was they billed for all the unnecessary treatment! The majority of which was covered by funds I had on credit, sadly. Again it did not end there, I was then threatened with legal action and further insulted on the telephone in relation to the outstanding bill! They then went on to hold my dog's records to ransom.
Campbell & Galloway are simply an unprofessional, immoral, money centric veterinary practice not worthy of being allowed to care for any creature great and small. For the sake of your pet and your sanity I urge that all responsible pet owners avoid them at all costs.
Ps- As for the nutrition 'advice' and insults, they questioned the quality and benefits of a Barf diet, as they did Orijen pet food, further adding, with more than a hint of arrogance, that they had never heard of Orijen and it must therefore not be a quality dog food. They had the same advice for almost every natural supplement suggested and peer reviewed as being helpful in caring for dog's with arthritis.
PPS- Whilst attacking the Barf diet, along with Orijen, they attempted to convince me that the very poor (big brand) pet food's they offer in the practice were the best available, I asked them to advise why they believed this to be the case, that I was particularly interested in discussing the nutritional benefits of the ingredients, only to be informed that as I wasn't a vet there would be no point having such a conversation with myself as I wouldn't understand the topic, on informing the vet I had studied nutrition extensively for a number of years, I was told that was irrelevant as I was not a vet!
For the record, the pet foods available in the practice are renowned for being of very low quality, a simple Google search for reviews of the foods they push the sale of heavily will reveal all, at the same time another Google will prove how good Orijen is and why no vet should not be at least aware of this food, the same goes for the Barf diet.
The only reason stopping me taking legal action against Campbell and Galloway was my impending move abroad. I can only now take some comfort in hoping this review helps others, both pets and their owners, from having to go through what me and my beloved boy went through at their hands.
