We have just had a terrible experience at pets n vets queens park.
We took out cat there for first time, explained several times that he was very nervous around strangers, he was a rescue cat, hes crazy in house around people he knows but he is a housecat and doesnt like strangers. As he was visibly stressed at being there it would be best we lifted him out his carry box onto table and scales. The woman took no notice of what we said and tried to grab him out his box, we asked that she didnt but she did before we could stop her. She continued to ignore anything we said to her about him, causing him unneccesary stress. When she eventually put him back down, after holding him a while for no reason, he tried his best to hide in box which made any examination difficult and she then decided then would be a good time to trim his nails! We didnt let her as he was so stressed and as they were not causing him any problems, we left.
Previous experience with our cat at vets are usually quite good, our old vet would let us lift him in and out of box, onto scales, and move him around table for examination as much as was possible for us to do. Obviously the old vet would examine him and move him a bit but any moving that could be done by us was. We found our cat would be less stressed by this.
We found the vet very patronising, she didnt like us stating our concerns. At one point we nearly took our cat and left but didnt want to cause more stress by having to take him to another vet.
Our old vet retired hence the change, but now we will need to find someone who will allow for his nervousness around strangers.
We also noticed the room wasnt the cleanest, a strong smell of urine was present.
They may be fine for the average dog but not if your pet is not good around strangers. read more
