called before I went to bath my dog, and told as long as you were there at 4pm I could bath my dog, arrived at 3:55 and they were locking up. did say I could use the bath she would open up again 1/2 heartedly but how can you say yes please when the other two staff walk away and get in their car. was told we open at 9 tomorrow morning when I have an 1 hour round trip. have used on lots of occasions, certainly won't be again. why advertise your opening hours as closing at 4:30 when you close at 3:55 could have told me on the phone I had to be there for 3:30!!!!!! read more

I really think that pet groomers are obligated to have a punny name and as puns go you don't get much better than Wizard of Paws! We've been taking our Yorkshire Terrier here for 8 years and have always been happy with the quality of her haircut and the quality of her care. Our dog can be a bit of a diva to put it nicely and they are patient and kind and don't rush through the haircut and upset her. If she's having a bad day they will let her go chill out and come back and finish later. I can't stress enough how amazing that is---they care more about the dog's well being than getting the grooming done as quickly as possible. If it takes 2-3 hours then that is what it takes and I love that they put the dog first. They also have washing stations where you can bring in your muddy mutt and wash them yourself. It means you won't have to make a mess in your bathroom and they have everything you'd need. They also offer kenneling, doggy daycare and a full shop on site with food, snacks and other pet accessories. I can't recommend it enough and I'd never think of taking our dog anywhere else. read more

We came here on the weekend for their Puppy Club 1 session which is at 9.45am on a Saturday morning. We'd had to book about a week and half in advance so keep that in mind if you're planning on going! The session is for puppies who haven't completed their vaccinations - so between 8-11/12 weeks old. It's £15 for the 45 minute session and the website says there should be no more than 6 puppies there, but the session were at had 9 or 10 puppies. The sessions are held in their training area which is disinfected so it's safe for the puppies. The session covered things like crate training, biting, toilet training as well as a chance for the puppies to socialise at the end. Personally, I didn't feel like the structure of the class was ideal - the puppies were getting frustrated sitting on their owners knees and clearly just wanted to meet each other! It also ran over time which meant there wasn't as much time allotted to the socialisation (which was really the reason we were there). And finally, the price is a bit steep for what you get - we're doing a similar puppy club session with our vet which is £20 for 4 x 1 hour sessions and includes items to keep as well. That being said, Joffrey liked the opportunity to meet other dogs and this was a good way of introducing him to that idea. read more

Situated a couple of minutes walk from the Botanic Gardens stretch of the Kelvin Walkway, this new dog-focussed pet shop could not be more perfectly placed. Selling everything from collars to bedding and lined with buckets of treats to suit the palate of every spoiled pooch, this small shop has managed to cram in pretty much everything a dog owner could need. They even have a couple of dog washing stations which, though a little pricey (£9 for 30 minutes ain't all that bad for an all-inclusive service, mind), could prove to be a life saver if Fenton has chased his quarry into the muddiest part of the river right before the family visit to cleaning-obsessed Auntie Agnes. The staff there are incredibly helpful and friendly and, yes, are dog-owners too - it wasn't long before I saw pictures of Willow the springer after I was dragged in by my own excited spaniel making a beeline for the pail of sausages. If you're looking for something and they're out of stock they will take your details and alert you as soon as the next order's in. All in all I'm very pleased to see this branch opening up and am sure to be back many times over the coming months! read more

Was introduced to the Wizard by a friend who recommended it for dog treats and glad we found it. Our dog loves the array of chews - pizzles are his favourite (not mine though, as they reek to high heaven). We've also used the self-service dog wash and found it to be really good. They lay on water and snacks for the pups, and you're free to bring your dog in to browse. Highly recommended! read more
