My…read morewife spent many months researching camps that offered a variety of activities including some out of the box that include; Circus, yes, circus including all kinds of high wire activities, manners and modeling, golf, Bible study, cooking are just some. This will be our oldest daughter's sixth year and our youngest her fourth. Sessions are two weeks, not too long and not to short. We have found the staff and counselors really interested in the girls. Skyline is nearly 300 miles from our home and requires an over night stay going and coming but we feel worth the effort. Our girls consider it an important part of summer, they look forward to, they shop for it and they hate to leave when it is over. It has been a great experience for them in meeting and making new friends. None of their local friends attend so they meet girls from other places and learn about their lives. They learn how to live in close quarters with other folks that might be different from you. Costs are in line with other summer camps. We feel our girls are in good hands and will come back better people for the time spent there.

If I had any suggestions to the camp, it would be to find ways to take more pictures and share them with the parents. I loved the two I saw of my son on Facebook the first week, but he managed to miss all the other weeks in photos. He says he was in other pictures, but I was never able to see him. I love seeing the fun he had in photos. Also, the counselors shuttling from the YMCA were fantastic!

With 1 it was not very comfortable & you could feel the wood bellow. The food isn't bad it is just not my favorite. The activities are soooo fun. It's a great way to make new friends & the staff are very involved. Last but definitely not least is the wave pool & slides. The wave pool is sooo fun, the waves get so high! I would recommend the younger kids might need to have a parent with them because the waves get really high & hard! The slide is super fun & smooth so it doesn't hurt, but at the end you will more than likely have a wedgy! The view is amazing & so pretty! At night you can see the stars perfectly clearly & they are beautiful! This was a very nice place.

But if your kids love being challenged and love the outdoors, this is where you want them. My son is going to camp here for the seventh summer in a row and there is no place he would rather be. Our daughter loved being a camper here so much the five summers that she came here that she is spending this summer as a counselor. The kids stay busy doing things like tubing on Carter Lake, rafting, swimming, horseback riding in addition to playing amazing tribal games. But there is also a focus on spending time with God and how important that is for us. The counselors and staff are simply amazing. They are fun and full of energy and love and compassion. I could not recommend this camp more highly. It is truly magnificent.

I don't normally post negative review, but I must warn parents…read more My daughter was excited for her second year at Riverview. She had a great time with activities and making friends. Then out of nowhere a veteran camper "reported" her for ridiculous claims and manipulated others to make claims and tell half truths. These claims were accepted without requiring any context to the claims. They were all taken at face value. My child was sequestered for a night until I was able to pick her up from camp. My child was treated like she had mental issues taking away her belt, not allowing her to see any other campers, etc. She was not allowed to even speak to me privately over the phone so I could get her side of the story until after I picked her up. This camp claims to have Christian values, but all I saw in the adults eyes was judgment when I picked up my child, who didn't do anything wrong. She was the victim of a witch hunt and the adults were either too biased or inexperienced in real counseling to see the truth.

My daughter went to the last session of Riverview this year (2016). It was her first year there…read more(she's 12) but she went with friends who have attended for several years. They were able to stay in the same cabin...which was a good thing. At first she was homesick, but after the first 3 days or so, she said that she made friends and was having a great time. She really liked being about to choose her activities. Ropes and gymnastics were her favs along with volleyball. She participated in the whitewater rafting excursion and it was really neat to see all the pictures that were posted on the camper/parent portal. Her only complaint was the the food (typical for a kid to complain about) wasn't that great and that there was a lot of junk food available!! She says she wants to go back again next year. Although we didn't use the service, I was really glad to see that there was a bus available. Maybe next year!

Afterwards, we enjoyed some cold drinks and snacks in the main area. It is very neat and clean. One grandson elected to pan for gems which yielded a nice assortment of pieces. A nice added touch was a chart for him to help identify what he found. Lots of fun. Nice, friendly staff help round out this find located just outside Murphy,NC.
