Basically, a battle of the local rock and roll bands - a variety of different members from different bands come together on two teams for one day with a purpose to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Tickets are only $5, bring a foldup chair, 10x10 tent, a cooler and it's a great time watching all of our friends compete with one another on the field. Torcaso Cove Park is a great place to hold this event. There is a spacious field with plenty of space on the sidelines for fans. There are several parking areas available making parking easy for large events. There was plenty of space for a half-time show with live music right by the field. There were also a BBQ vendor and several other vendors on site selling food, jewelry, and other items. The park has a public restroom, a playground, splash park, sand pits, plenty of paved walking areas, a picnic area with tables, large pavilion, a beautiful bridge that crosses the heart shaped cove, the park has a bunch of Muscovy ducks waddling around and is dog friendly, what else can you ask for. Nancy and I really enjoyed our time at the park, we will definitely be back to bring our dog and take a nice walk. I just have to mention that it was a bit muddy on the field, even on a hot sunny day. So be sure to wear something you don't care about getting dirty.

Full of ducks and turtles, and I always make sure to bring oatmeal and frozen peas so I can spend a little time with them. You can feed them from the bridge, or the beach. They will surround you LOL. There are 3 play areas: 2 for the big kids, and a pirate themed area for the little kids. There is also a splash pad, and I will openly admit to running through recently, as I chose to go on my run when it was over 95 degrees. The park is very clean, and well cared for, and it's right next to the Winter Springs Police Department, and on this day they had an event bringing awareness to autism; I was offered a popsicle and gladly grabbed it. I sat on a bench to watch a soccer match, while I finished my cold treat, stretched a bit, put on my weighted vest, waved to the ducks, and took off. Perfect park on a perfect day :)

After removing ticks from our walk at the campsite, we had several climbing our legs while sitting next to the fire - this continued the entire time we were sitting outside. The fly issue is just as bad, 100's of flys swarm as soon as you start eating or cooking. We had plans to stay two nights but bailed after the first night due to the tick and fly issue. We were planning to do some hiking around the lake and beyond but didn't want to deal with the tick and fly issue. Have no desire to return.

We kayaked, canoed and rented a stand up paddle board to play in the lake with. They sell firewood, ice and charcoal for cooking while you camp, and the sanitation station is easy to use and accessible. We used our generator 7 am to 10 pm, and then slept in the peaceful quiet hours. We will 100-% be back!!

What a welcoming, professional bunch. I can't point to any one because they are all just as great. As for the equipment and facility, the equipment is modern, always working and well maintained. The facility is always clean and the pool is constantly attended to with lifeguards, never too hot or cold. We can't say enough good things about the Zumba class! It's fantastic and you'll leave feeling like you've gotten a real workout. This past Summer Camp was the second time we enrolled our little one and she was always excited to go. They watched out for all the kids in the pool and made sure all the kids are respectful of each other. We enrolled her in Volleyball just recently and so far, so good. So all and all, if you're looking for an alternative to the typical gym or a safe environment for your child, you'll find it here. Oh, and did I mention the great staff?

We probably got 25 minutes out of an hour on the slope, and the coach was not really giving us personal instruction. We skied, and the "lesson" focused more on how to use the simulator than how to ski more advanced. We are at the intermediate level (can parallel ski, control speed and turns, run moguls, etc.), and it seemed like the instructor may specialize in beginner instruction. It was a nice warm-up for our trip, and we each had a takeaway that made us feel like it wasn't a waste; however, I wouldn't spend that money again for the value received.

The stump remains. There used to be an incredible piece of art carved into the tree. There are still other great trees remaining though. Lots of trees. One time I went there on a cool autumn morning and I thought I had passed into dog HEAVEN!!! The fancy dog rescue groups met up and there were tons of incredible dog breeds, especially the ones that look like big fluffy mops. I've been here numerous times, & this park means a lot to me. I have incredible memories. *Beware of the lake, there might be alligators. (I used to enjoy watching the sailboat lessons.) *Best if you wear boots. Last time I ended up with a bunch of dirt in my shoes. *I've only seen 2 dog fights. Stay close to your dog. *Once, I saw what appeared to be coyote fur on a fence, there might be one around there sometimes. The walking trails in the woods/forest part is really fun. A guy used to play his guitar in a center area. I like walking my dogs through the woods there. Sad when I see my dogs years later unable to walk like they previously could, or disoriented, lost in there. We sure did enjoy that park extensively. Bring dog shampoo & a towel if you want, the dog shower bench is free.

Otherwise it has excellent shade, various playground structures, baby and kid swings, and a small pavilion. I also like that the ground is the padded type for two playgrounds and the whole park is fenced in. The park is right off a busy section of 436 in Altamonte so it's a good thing it is fenced in. There are few parking spots next to the playground, otherwise there are more parking spaces if you follow the signs to a separate lot. If you're desperate for a bathroom, you'll still have to get in your car and drive down the street. My suggestion would be Panera or Walgreens.

It has plenty of parking and good rest rooms, drinking fountains, and maps of the trail. It is in downtown Apopka off U.S. 441, so there can be a bit of traffic getting to it, but it will help you appreciate the quieter trail even more. There is also a play area in the park and covered picnic shelters. The last time we were there a group used one for a party. A couple of times in the winter we saw they were holding a carnival nearby. For its urban location, it is a fine multi-use park. And check out the West Orange Trail!

The park itself has a small playground with a larger play area and smaller one for the smaller kids. The playground is pretty nice with mulch and soft cushy rubber matting for the kids to run on. There is a covered pavilion with some tables and benches and well as a grill. There is also a small recreation building where they host an after school program for Orange County. I've been a few times with my son... it is your standard park.

During the Second Seminole War n 1836, the US Army established Camp Monroe on the shore of Lake…read moreMonroe to unload troops and supplies. On February 8, 1837, a force of Seminole Indians led by Emathla and his son, Coacoochee, attacked the camp, resulting in the Battle of Camp Monroe. Captain Charles Mellon died defending the fort and 14 soldiers were injured. The fort was renamed in his honor. Mellon was said to be buried near where he was killed under a large tree. Over the following months, the other soldiers killed at Fort Mellon were buried at a cemetery nearby the fort. Later on Mellon was reinterred in a cemetery in St. Augustine but not all of the bodies were moved. The remaining dead, about 20-26, who were buried at Fort Mellon are still there and nobody knows exactly where. Over time, the fort was abandoned and the cemetery was lost. The area around the fort developed into the city of Mellonville which was eventually annexed by Sanford. In January of 1938, the city commission voted to name a new park after Fort Mellon. Today the park is a popular gathering spot for outdoor recreation for the City of Sanford. Over 17 acres the community can enjoy basketball courts, outdoor exercise equipment, a fort themed playground, eight picnic pavilions equipped with tables and grills, and Central Florida's largest splash pad. The history, waterfront views, and well kept facilities have made this park a beloved destination for family fun in Sanford for decades. This park is a destination for family community gatherings, play, and fitness. Fort Mellon Park connects to the Sanford Riverwalk for even more recreational opportunities. .

One for bigger kids and then a side for smaller kids. Perfect for families of different aged children. Both sides have really fun features for the kids. The older side resembles a castle with lots climbing, slides and a draw bridge. The younger side resembles a ship. It has rocking boats, shorter steps, and baby swings. This park has a nice padded floor but it is not covered. With the water near by and the direct sunlight it can be very hot for children so pay attention to this. Next to the park is the splash pad which is very large and fun for kids. The bathroom is located between the two. Some parts of the park seem unfinished or under construction. Overall it's a nice park with a lot to offer for locals or visitors.
