My little one went and it was pretty much exactly as I'd hoped it would be. Fantastic. The counsellors are the same goofy and `probably seem like gods to the young ones' types that seem to always accept that job, the management/permanent staff are friendly and overworked, and the grounds are in good but 'could use a little love' shape. The check in where you drop them off was super fun- thanks to the costumed crazy ship captain and the 'like a well oiled machine' staff helping out and the return was just as easy. Still, the fun she had wasn't a bit run down, or overworked. She loved it and promptly told me she'd want to go back every year, even though this was her first sleepaway camp experience. We got in through a discounted 'mini week' for new campers, and it was a smart move, because we're sold and will be back every year now, at full price, and happy about it.

I do not have kids, technically I have 150 kids. You figure it out. And if I were their parent and thinking about the future which a few actually seem to do, I would be thinking about overnight camp. The summer months are not far away. And only the best overnight camp on the West coast for their little darlings, Camp Sealth. I know I cannot be the only veteran of the camp on here, I am only reminding you of it. The cabins, the horses, the meadow, the camp fires, hikes along the beach, the tippy canoe test, the songs... Oh the memories! Is it too much? Well, it is all still there for the taking. Camp Fire Boys and Girls has done an excellent job keeping up the camp and doing renovations. Keep in mind they also have camp sessions for people with special needs and dietary restrictions. Make your kid a summer camp champ and take a week off for goodness sakes!

We just had our wedding here (Aug 2025) and it turned out amazing! The property is large and it has…read moreso many different areas. Each area feels so different and has it's own special character, so we proposed having the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in three different locations. It added a lot of complexity but it was totally worth it. We found a spot in the forest that seemed to have promise for the ceremony and Linda, the amazing venue operator, was 100% all in and willing to make it happen. It required a LOT of work on their part (extensive weeding, clearing, hiring an arborist to trim tree limbs, widening trails, putting up string lights, running a super long extensive cord to get power down here, etc) but Linda and her team did it all and more, at their expensive, and it looked incredible. She was super proactive every step of the way and had a lot of great ideas, and was totally willing to put the work in and your vision happen. She was like our second wedding coordinator - so appreciated! The venue has great parking, a huge green lawn area (our reception area), lovely forest trails, a quaint peaceful 'glamping tent' area (which we actually used for our Cocktail Hour, with the tent removed, worked great!), a 'lodge' house on the property for the bride and groom to prep and family to stay over, and of course the beautiful horses. Foxglove has a ton of new, beautiful live edge Douglas Fir tables that you can use, included. The crafted tables we're really beautiful and added to the special character of the event. We got a good deal on the 2025 pricing since we were kind of last minute (last minute in the wedding world at least) and filled an open August weekend, which was much appreciated. It looks like their 2026 pricing bumped up quite a bit but I think they'll have even more to offer in 2026, from what Linda has said. In 2025 there wasn't any kind of kitchen area for the caterer to use, which was a little challenging/expensive for off-island caterers, but it sounds like they'll be offering a cool converted army tent trailer kitchen for next season. The bathroom situation here isn't the best as the only bathrooms are at the lodge house (which kind of exposed guests to chaotic catering zone and the chaotic decor/bride staging area). There is also a very charming bathroom structure at the 'glamping tent' area, but the toilet itself is really more camping style. It totally worked and they did some kind of voodoo magic process so it didn't smell one bit, and nobody seemed to care. It wasn't really a problem for our group size (67) but it would be better if you rent some nice bathrooms, or perhaps Foxglove will eventually build some more on site. It's a fairly new venue so I could see them investing in that. Many of our guests got to Vashon early, or even spent the weekend on Vashon - everyone really enjoyed the small town atmosphere, some great restaurants and coffee shops, and the hiking/kayaking, etc. We were a little worried about the island travel being a deterrent to guests but everyone loved it and enjoyed the vacation feeling of it all. 5 big stars to Foxglove, Linda and her team. Our wedding far surpassed our expectations. Highly recommended!!!

Having planned and executed many events, I can absolutely see why my friends picked this location. Here are just a few reasons why I was impressed: The view is lovely, and the location is perfect! The Yacht Club could not have been better to work with! Forgive me, the gentleman who was in charge was incredible but, for the life of me, I cannot remember his name! If I figure it out, I will absolutely let you know! There is A LOT of parking! Yay! They have a spacious entry (with a coat rack, thank you very much) making registration a breeze. Lots and lots of round tables and cushioned chairs - no, really. Not a single folding chair to be found! The main banquet area is so well laid out. They also have a spacious bar area with a delightful herd of tall cocktail tables in the back. Julia, who ran the bar that night, along with her assistant, Mitch, were rock stars! Fast and Fabulous! They were professional and always had a smile, I love that. As you walk in, you see a lot of room for lots of tables without it seeming tight. A giant, pulldown screen for projection. A nice podium (having been a teacher for a decade, I know podiums!). A pretty terrific sound system with (I am guessing they are part of the package, but not absolutely sure...you may need to check with them) nice microphones! They were so great about adjusting the volumes for the music and the speakers, as needed. Great lighting!! A GIANT PRO KITCHEN! Again, you will need to find out what is available to rent. We had a caterer, but the kitchen is gorgeous! NICE BATHROOMS!!! YAY!!! Seriously, this is a fantastic rental space. You really should consider it; you will thank me!

The Club had plenty of parking space. The bar area is large and well furnished and there's plenty of space for a 4 piece band. The main seating area could have hosted 200 people with great tables and chairs. There's plenty of dance floor space between the bar and band area. The kitchen was very good and well outfitted for our caterers needs. I didn't give GHYC all 5 stars because we did have few issues that were partly the clubs responsibilities and partly our caterers. GHYC is very reasonable priced and the Event Manager was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process!

Clean facility, rooms, and common areas. Nice people working there…read more A few things to be aware of: 1. In the quest to save money on electricity, the hotel has installed brilliant blue-white LED lights in most room lamps and all bathroom fixtures. Terrible idea. Why is this mentioned? If you're waking up, it's great -- but if you're trying to get some sleep, that frequency of visible light screams "WAKE UP!" Even though you're feeling tired, the light unavoidably wakes up your brain and body. Terrible idea. Hint: put warmer (white light shifted toward the red end of the spectrum) in the lights in the bedroom, and perhaps (if equipped) an overhead light in the loo, so your guests aren't robbed of sleep. Did I mention that this is a terrible idea? Minus one point. 2. The parking slots are on a slight incline. Why does this matter? There is no brake on the luggage carts, and if you're there alone (or solo-loading the bags onto the cart), it's exciting to have to chase the cart as it rolls away -- toward other cars. Unload your vehicle at the hotel entrance, or risk your 50-pound suitcases meeting the nearby expensive-to-fix Mercedes or Beemer. 3. The breakfast buffet: very unexciting. The coffee? Mehhh. Condiments? Almost non-existent. The few dollars in the tip jar? Find a Starbucks or Peet's.
