So this is a review for the new teacher classes specifically and needs to be noted (but also seems…read morelike what some others have experienced before too with other classes) Lori made sure I knew where to park and was really helpful. I really hate that you have to pay for parking on days outside of Sunday and therefore, I probably won't go to the studio during a weekday or Saturday for that reason. I understand that Franklin Street is pretty busy, and it's not really their fault but it's just a financial inconvenience. I really wish that the instructor would've been doing the movements with us. It seems like others have taken classes, and the instructor doesn't necessarily participate. I feel like this helps with pacing and understanding when holding a pose is on the brink of being too long (maybe I'm just not as used to holding warrior 1&2 for so long in any classes I've taken but my quads were about to give out. If they aren't doing the pose with us, I don't know if they can tell when a pose is too long. The studio itself was very cute and very clean and well organized with a ton of supplies available for students. I really love their choice of music which was very calming and wasn't anything crazy. I love at the end of class they give you a little eye mask and by the time we went into meditation at the end, I completely forgot where I was and was zoned out, which was awesome. I'll be interested to see how other teachers do later on and how their pacing is. I also completely forgot my mat at home and was very thankful when they offered me a borrowed one!!

Immersion Island provides my kids with the opportunity of being fully immersed in Spanish language while learning the culture of Spanish speaking countries best of all, is super fun and my kids keep asking for it each year! I can really tell the difference at the end of the week of camp, on their level of confidence speaking Spanish to me, compared to the first day of camp.

I went to one of Immersion Island's camps for adults this weekend, and it was terrific. As a…read morebeginner (I've been studying Spanish for 9 months), I was worried that it would be difficult (not to mention tiring) to keep up with an 8-hour day of conversation entirely in Spanish, but Jennifer did a great job of structuring the day so it did not get tedious and had plenty of variety. The camp is offered over a weekend and students can go for one day or two (I just went on Saturday). There were about 10 students there, at various stages of proficiency from beginner to advanced, along with 6 or 7 native speakers. There were times when we spent time listening to cultural presentations, other times when we practiced conversation one-on-one or in small groups. The theme on Saturday was a "visit" to Venezuela. The most interesting thing was learning from, and speaking with, 5 native Venezuelans who told us about the country and talked about traditions, the landscape, the food, etc. One of them was a very skillful musician who plays the "cuarto" (four-stringed guitar) and led us through several songs, which was fun and also useful for practicing vocabulary. They also showed us how to make arepas, which we had for lunch. All of the native speakers were patient and encouraging, so I felt like I absorbed a lot without feeling stressed about my beginner speaking skills. The students with more advanced speaking skills also had opportunities to have more in-depth conversations.

The friendly/knowledgeable worker walked us in the lamb pen - clearly explained the rules then gave us some food and the friendly lambs came over for lots of snuggles. When done with the snuggles we could go explore. First we went to the clean restroom to wash, then headed over to the other side of the pond to pet the goats. There were also bunnies, chickens a donkey and a mule. You can buy local beer, wine and drinks, walk through the gift shop and pick and eat berries. They also have live music- check the website.

The farm also has sheep, chickens, bunnies, donkey, mule, gift shop, seating areas, air conditioned restrooms, handwashing stations, and a pond. We had a lovely experience at Old Mill Farm recently. It was a much needed peaceful retreat and return to nature. We could have spent all weekend just relaxing on the deck watching the animals and snacking on fresh blackberries. We arrived a little late for our lamb snuggle session, however, the employee who greeted us was so understanding and welcoming. She introduced us to the lambs, clearly stated the rules, and answered all of our farm questions. After feeding and petting the adorable sheep for 45 minutes, we explored the rest of the farm. We washed our hands, walked around the pond, pet the goats, perused the gift shop, and visited the chickens, sheep, donkey, mule, bunnies, and vineyards. The fresh blackberries in the vineyard were large, refreshing, and delicious. At that point we were soaked in sweat and decided to wash our hands and head out. We did play all four "carnival" games before leaving. Local: we appreciate their emphasis on supporting other local businesses in what they offer at the bar and in the gift shop. Food/drink: Bar stocked with local beer, mead, wine, cider, and non-alcoholic options. No restaurant on site but they sometimes have a food truck. Customer service: I forgot her name, but the farmer leading our group was incredible. She was so welcoming, patient, and passionate about the farm animals. Parking: large, labelled dirt parking lot near the donkey and mule enclosure. Reservations: needed on specific days/times/events. The website lists when reservations are needed. Price: check the website for free visit days/times. Some events do have a cost. Lamb snuggling was $10/person (for 5 people) and included food for the lambs and a self-guided tour of the farm. It was definitely worth the price.
