My son missed a few sessions due to medical reasons, including being hospitalized and having contagious illnesses. We always provided doctor and hospital notes and were even told to keep him home so other children wouldn't get sick. There were also times when they canceled appointments because the therapist wasn't available. We received a warning letter saying he missed multiple sessions. I called and explained that all but one were medically excused. After speaking with an employee, I believed my son was being removed. Later I was told it was a misunderstanding, but that day was still marked as two no-shows, which I feel is unfair given the confusion. I also did not see much speech progress during the short time he attended. Sessions were only 30 minutes, and most of the time he was placed in the sensory room to play. We did not see the therapist really interact much with my son. Since starting ABA therapy, he has already learned words like "mom," "ball," "no," "wow," and "bubbles." I am currently waiting for the director to contact me to address these concerns. In the meantime, we are already looking into private therapy options to ensure my son receives the support he needs.

When we walk into the school the director greets us every morning and genuinely checks on the children. Once we walk through the main entry, there is a wide open green field and 3 play grounds in sight. It is always a breath of fresh air and every thing I ever dreamed of for my children. I really enjoy that walk to class and every morning we pass through the preschool garden and check on the preschool chickens. The classes are small with two wonderful teachers assigned to each class. These are trauma informed educators that took the time to understand and work with one of my babies that just needed a little bit of compassion and understanding. Any obstacles we have faced have been handled with love and problem solving. Any parent that has experienced the heartbreak of loving a child that just needs grace, will understand how thankful I am to have found Fairmont and all the educators there.

We moved our middle daughter to Carden for 6th grade, and I was thrilled by the challenging curriculum put forth by the knowledgable and empathic teachers that work there. The school prepared my middle daughter for the challenges of University High School, and she will graduate from UC Davis as a double major with honors this spring. Additionally, our youngest daughter has benefited by going the whole route from kindergarten through 8th grade, and has really thrived in middle school. I couldn't be happier to have paid for the education they have gotten, and I hope other who really care about their child's education can benefit from this school as well.

When you first come onto the camp, they have a cute fake town. There is a sign with a Sheriff on it and some fake stores (one real store but was closed). They had fake train tracks and just cute playtown fun. Great for photos. It is also near a hiking trail. This is just a great place for photos :)
