What an incredibly charming B&B! I've never been to one and googled this for a weekend getaway. I…read moreread plenty of the previous reviews and it became an easy decision. Booking online was easy and I was kept informed about my reservation through a few emails ensuring that I was going to have a fun filled happy weekend. Driving up there was an easy route and pulling up to the front house just made it more charming. The old Victorian was beautiful and the check in process was incredible. We arrived at the same time as others and had to wait for a short time in a quaint room that had teas ready for us. We were greeted by one of the hosts who went over everything for us! They covered the room, the meal choices, the facilities and trails, as well as nearby towns and the restaurant recommendations. The room itself was beyond what we imagined! Everything was so romantic and clean. Everything was just pefect. The breakfasts were so filling and there was a nook area with granolas, cookies, and drinks at all times. We couldn't have asked for anything else during the weekend stay and will without hesitation be back!

So quaint and lovely and well managed. The food they serve for breakfast was exquisite, the hot tub in the room we had was just plain sweet. I believe we had the Romeo and Juliet suite. Luckily we did all this before the virus hit. Can't wait to do it again. Love it. Love it. Love this place.

I honestly don't understand the hype surrounding this venue. I considered it for an event, but very…read moreglad that I looked elsewhere. I attended a reception here, and that sealed the deal for me entirely. They really advertise for a much better experience than what is given in reality, including "on-Site and Transportation to and from the venue," which means that if equipment breaks down (and it did) that you are left waiting to pile onto a bus whenever they can get one to your guests. Walking into the space, all I could see was an awful slab floor. It looked as if they were still in renovation stage or something. Just awful. Your guests get one little coat rack that looks as if they bought it online, and it's in a back hallway as you make your way to the restrooms. It's a cramped space and I wonder why this place was so poorly built, but then I remembered what I call the 'benefactor factor,' and it became more and more clear. The only way that this place becomes "gorgeous," as it's been referred to in other posts, is if you spend a ton of money with a trained event professional (outside and separate cost, of course) to beautify it. Otherwise, you have a small room with a slab floor to work with. The only redeeming quality of the place is the outside deck.

It's surrounded by trees and made for a wonderful wedding setting. About 80-90 attendees and it was a great size, more than 90 would probably overwhelm the space. Logistics and transport were not super smooth, but all was well once we finally got there.

Featured events are: an annual Easter Egg Hunt complete with the Easter Bunny, Buccaneer Bash, SteamDream Expo, BlackRock Medieval Fest, Frontier Days, Music Festivals and the ever popular Haunted Hallows! We had the pleasure to attend the 2018 BlackRock Medieval Fest for the first time this summer! On a secluded 35 acres - you begin your adventure by turning onto a long winding drive (seems kind of sketchy at first) that takes you deep in the woods and opens back up to a huge field that is used for parking. As you walk up to the gate at BlackRock Medieval Fest you are greeted with smiles and the "no outside food or drink allowed inside" sign. Once inside you can enjoy live entertainment: live jousting, live action steel combat, 6 stages of entertainment, and live music. You can also enjoy fresh food and cold beverages (Including BEER!) that will quench your thirst and fill your belly. If it's shopping you like - lots of vendors are available with a wide variety of items for purchase from clothing to goblets. So many things to do and see but never enough time! General admission is only $10 at the gate, and children 12 & under are free! Overall: A solid 5 stars - the perfect destination to go and get a glimpse of a time gone bye.

Tucked back in the woods just outside of Augusta, my first impression (3 years ago) upon turning onto the long winding entrance drive , was that this would be the perfect start to a cheesy slasher flick. Directional signs that appeared to be handwritten added to the effect. So to say I had low expectations for the experience would be spot on. Happy to say I was totally wrong! Fast forward to the present. I was excited to return to the Blackrock fest after my previous visit. And I wasn't disappointed. The way that Olde World Village is setup makes the entire Blackrock experience so much better. Everything just flows together and is easily accessible. I love how each show has it's own stage or area so that multiple acts can be simultaneously run without interrupting each other. Gives the visitor more bang for their buck. Plenty of easy parking. Easily accessible porta-johns. It is dirt/gravel parking so don't wear your best shoes. This location is perfect for historical simulations. I believe they also have a pioneer festival, and a pirate fest or steampunk fest at various times also. You should check out at least one of them!
