The sites were nice and large; believe they were $30 per night (i believe) - omg the restrooms were cleaned very frequently. Please note - i didn't see anywhere on site that sold wood so make sure load up before arriving. Bring your kayak as well - easy access to the dock and also lots of people fish near the early. Each family paid about $70 TOTAL for EVERYTHING for our two night three day stay! Food, lodging and all the included programs, i'm saying 3 days/2 nights stay all included for $70!! (i still can't get over that) Apart from those two minor critiques, the place is an absolute gem in a beautiful setting. Sat outside the town of Middleville (aka "Middle-of-Nowhere's-ville) that is situated in between Grand Rapids (to the North) and Kalamazoo (to the South). As alluded to this place is strictly business. But also FUN. And the counselors do make it fun. The kids were over the top excited and had almost no downtime (unless tey chose to). Highlights - per the 10 y.o when asked: 1. Nightly Camp Fire Stories 2. Horse trail ride (his first, barely did it but was so happy when task was accomplished 3. Zip Line 4. Kayaking 5. The kids really enjoy it and we feel comfortable that our children are having a safe and fun experience. The camp is well organized with a myriad of fun activities planned. Both of my kids really love the food, although it sounds pretty standard by their description. The kayaking/canoeing, archery and outdoor skills activities are things they particularly liked. The staff are very friendly and competent and keep the kids entertained and engaged while instilling good values. If I had any complaint, it would be the staff-to-child ratio and apparent lack of a reasonable bedtime for the kids under 10 years old. There are 10-12 kids in each cabin and both my kids complained that they never got to sleep before 11:00 or 11:30 pm. If this is a concern, then a day camp might be a better choice. Despite this, both our kids have asked to go to camp for a second week each summer.

You pay $3 for socks for the kid however none are needed for the adult and you only need to buy them once unless you lose them. Each additional adult is $5 which is more than reasonable for the amount of space and toys/activities they have! You can also utilize a lock that they provide to lock up your belongings. If they could have a couple cables and a separate line for the true beginners it would make the price much more worth it, and us along with others I know would be more likely to visit many more times. Only one staff member was truly teaching my children how to actually ride, the other girl there was clearly not into the job and just kind of there. The kid that was helping was very impressive and I was thankful that two hours into being there, on their 3rd try that they finally got some sort of direction for their last two tries. Almost 3 hours of being there and kids only got 4 turns, that equated to them literally falling in the water until the other staff member took over. One of the kids in our group got injured and not one staff member asked if she was ok, truly a learning experience for staff to be a little more vigilant and at least pretend to care. Other than these things my kids had a blast and it is such a bummer to know they would not get enough turns to make the hour drive to this facility worth it to come back.

It's so awesome to be close to the water but not in an area of it where people drive jet skis like jerk-faces all the live long day. It's actually peaceful here. We went Labor Day weekend and it was pretty chill. You fall asleep to the sounds of birds and nature. If you are tent camping, I highly suggest avoiding D1 to D43. Not because the sites suck, but because the bathroom to people ratio is not as nice as D44 to D78. If you book D71, there are steps at the back of your campsite to one of the main trails and an almost direct path to the water as well. We booked it last year and the only down fall is that we had a few people get lost and end up right in our campsite for a few moments. Also, Tractor supply and Walmart are 10 minutes away. We grab firewood (and some groceries) from there when all the local firewood vendors are sold out. Also the DNR folks come around every day and check on the sites and bathroom which is much appreciated.
