I was super excited to book a spot here, as my cousins did a rafting trip last summer, stayed here, and said it was great. I go to book a site online but noticed the list of dog breeds that are banned like it's 1990... but my 18" staffy mix dog that is well behaved and trained, Canine Good Citizen graduate, that also does therapy with children is on the breed ban list... No- it's not because of your "insurance." In the state of California, breed discrimination is not tolerated or allowed; however, owners can choose to do what they want, it is your property after all. For the record, there are more dog bites from small untrained dogs than any other breed. We will be supporting the other RV parks that tolerate well behaved dogs and kick out the under socialized dogs with bad owners.... read more

Great clean campground. Close to all the cool things Kernville has to offer and close to lots of outdoor activities. Mule deer like to wonder the park at dawn and dusk. If you want a better chance of seeing wildlife make sure to book the sites that back up to the private property. Winter is a great time to visit as the weather is fantastic and its a lot less busy. If we come back this way we will definiteky be staying ar Camp Kernville again. ​ read more

I have been going here for a decade never had rude service. Jenifer is an amazing person always is positive about everything. Far drive but always worth it. Bathrooms are always clean. People are nice and they won't steal your stuff I left my phone in the women's bathroom for a day on accident and was still there perfectly. They provide you with a stand for like a griddle or a lil grill and a picnic table and a camp fireplace thing. They do lil things like karaoke contests and stuff like that. read more

This little treasure just outside of Santa Paula on the road to Ojai is amazing. I can't believe it is not busier than it is, this is an actual campground trees and trails in thanks for the kids in zip lines and all kinds of cool stuff... big shade trees wonderful staff wide open and you have to mention the beautiful peacocks roaming freely.... This was our 3rd year visit to this camp ground. We found the camp site to be kept very clean and quiet. This was an enjoyable experience As always. The campground has a great location and is walking distance from the town. There is a small beach front by the river. The market and gas station is a hop, skip and a jump by vehicle. Many antique stores and places to eat and have coffee or ice cream. We will be returning next year. Highly recommended! read more

Great getaway camp location. We had the camp to ourselves after Labor Day rush. The beach was close by to swim or fish. We caught a catfish and rainbow trout. Staff were friendly and kept the facility clean. Local restaurants around within walking distance and I enjoyed white water rafting. Definitely recommend and I will come back for white water rafting again! read more

Great campground! They are doing a lot of good things. Karaoke could be a little better organized and communicated as you book or check in. The performances were awesome. Been coming to Camp Kernville for 10 years now and this was the most friendliest staff we have encountered. Kuddos to Nikki.....she was amazing and helpful. She went above and beyond and made our stay fantastic for the things she was able to help us with. She even helped me jump start my car battery that was dead!! The grounds crew, the office staff, the owner...thanks for making our stay one of the best ever and YES...we were there during the fires but we weren't affected by the air quality at all. Amazing service and area...that's where it goes downhill. We rented an RV for our trip along with several other family members. The RV was a complete disappointment! Run down, sandy, blinds tore up and mattress was terrible! I have bruises on my hips from trying to sleep on boards. False advertising as well! Our RV had NO TV and kit he items were a joke! One extremely small frying pan and miscellaneous other strange items. Water pump was hit and miss, shower did not work at times. Again, love the venue, but you must up your game with RV rentals. read more

Great place for relaxation! Booked two beach front location that provided adequate space for our tents and trailer. Beautiful views and very well maintained. There's two family bathroom with shower and toilet and separate bathroom for men and women by the front office. Shower were clean and service was great. Here is another review of our recent trip to Camp Kernville for Memorial Day Weekend. I dont leave many reviews on businesses. I reserve my reviews for places I really enjoy but needs improvements, with the understanding that change only comes from public reviews. As I have mentioned before, this campground is very nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and everyone works hard at making sure the camping experience is fully enjoyed. There have been several improvements made to the campground over the last year, many due to the flood in 2022. I had the privilege of talking to the owner a couple of times over the weekend. He is a great man with big ideas for the future of the campground. Some of the improvements included a new dog park that is much closer to the campground center and has nice large shade trees. There are many great things about Camp Kernville. Needless to say, the location is probably one of the best things offered. Clean, sandy, beach front, with lost of white water rafting to watch. My downfall here is the cost. Every year, we tell ourselves we will not pay these prices again...and every year we have such a great time the we rebook. Just when I was getting used to the idea of $650....they increased the rates. Now $750 for the exact same camp site, except now there's no water hook ups and we need to fill our water tanks and run off the pump. This is a very minor inconvenience, but for $750 you would expect FULL hookups. To be fair, they did offer a 10% discount for booking Memorial Day 2025. Admittedly, the 10% hurts a little knowing the week before Memorial Day Weekend they ran a special for 50% off all campsites for Memorial Weekend. Keep in mind that when we were paying $500, there were no open spots for the weekend. Anyway, this will be my last review on Camp Kernville. We will continue to complain about the cost as we walk to the office to rebook for next year. We love going to Camp Kernville and look forward to it every year. I do wish the owners would consider, at the very least, two things: 1) reduce to a 3 night minimum like all of the other campgrounds in the area. 2) Complete the repairs of the broken water system. For $750, all services should be offered....with exception to the sites that might be too close to the river for sewer connections. See you next year. read more
