Not a great place, but definitely center of the fairway. The first time we came, our Pack stayed in the upper area. This past weekend, we stayed in the main field. We had plenty of room, the staff were extremely accomodating/nice and the facilities were great. The location on the river was nice. The entire Pack had a great time. We didn't really know where to get water and they basically said - go to that field and it was the end of our interactions with the check in. The kids did the climbing wall, which was kinda ok as well as the low ropes which was definitely lame and you shouldn't waste your money. They were nice and it was interesting, but not worth the money. Basically, it was a teambuilding exercise. The Scouts had the usual incredible time, but that comes any time you put a bunch of young kids on a field and camp out. We had fun, have been before and will probably come again in a couple years. If you are looking for a place for your Cub Scouts to camp, come here. Just don't waste your money on the "extra" activities.

The camp counselors welcome them in like a cheering squad, and get them settled into their cabins first, so they can meet all their bunk mates. The itinerary for the week is very busy, they are up early, with a healthy breakfast to get them going, and they are out to the beach or the pool for their morning, then to lunch and some down time before they start the afternoon activities. Each meal they are allowed to sing and chant and stand on their seats just like in the movies, and they are allowed to BE KIDS... Then they are off to the afternoon activities which are land or dry stuff, archery, arts & crafts, skate boarding, hockey, and then off to dinner. Every night the counselors went through each cabin and got reports and sent us emails and pictures daily. We were able to email them daily and they would print the emails out and have them at their table daily for lunch. When we picked them up for the closing ceremonies, our little girl had made so many friends, and she didn't seem to miss us at all... she had a blast! Every kid gets an award at the end. It helps build friendships, fun, and lets them be kids. We will let our kids go back every chance they get!

We were given a rundown on the activities for her for the week and took a quick tour of the camp. All in all, very nice. When we picked her up she was so happy. She had the best time! She told us about swimming and boating and time at the beach. They have a skate park inside and they played basketball and just did a lot of outdoor activities. The one thing we were warned about when we picked her up was ticks. They said they have plenty of ticks since it is in the woods. After this experience I would not hesitate to send my daughter back to camp her and would love to send my son. I think he would have a blast! I wish I went to a camp like this when I was a kid... I didn't even get to go to camp.

We had a fun ride! They were able to accommodate a next day trail ride in off-season today. It was…read morejust my daughter and I, and we were greeted by a cute dog on arrival. We did a practice ride in the ring before setting out on the trail. Since my daughter is young, they graciously led the horse on the trail. Both horses were calm and no issues on the trail. Mine tried to eat grass at the beginning, but I had already been warned and knew what to do! The trail goes back through the woods and then around the fenced in portion of the farm back to the barn. It was about 30 minutes of riding with a couple minutes on either side for getting instructions and putting the horses away. Afterwards, we said hello to the cat and bunnies, and the goats. It was a mild day and beautiful skies so the perfect winter day for a ride! We will be back when we are in town again.

We took our grandchildren 4,5 and 13 to this lovely farm. All went well. The kids enjoyed the ride…read moreand visiting the horses in their stalls. . .then, in an attempt to cool down the car before getting the kiddos loaded up, I locked the keys inside with the car running. Get them involved in cooking young so they can help in the kitchen later. Anyhow they made cinnamon and sugar dog shaped bones (for ppl not made for dogs). They gathered flour in a cup. Idk u gwt a huge cupful thats overflowing and to tap it three times to get air pockets out and then go across it with a knife or something similar to get rid of extra flour and get a nice evening cup of flour. They loved that and my 4 year old ended up with flour all over her pants. SHE REALLY GOT INTO IT. LOL. Then to complete the dog biscuits they rolled dough, pressed the dog shaped biscuit cookie cutter into the dough and added a few swipes of butter to coat it and added a pinch of cinnamon and sugar and since its just a,short class, they let them try samples of them they had already baked. Next station was strawberries with mascapone icing. They used a straw to push out the stem and then cut it in half and added icing. Oh man think that was the favorite station for all three of my kiddos. My 4 year old was like, "mmmm." Hehe. The other two kids inhaled it without much talking which means it was agreeable to their sometimes fussy pallets. You know how kids are if ur a parent or nanny. FUSSY. LOL. NEXT and final station was biscuit/croissant making. It was equivalent to making Pillsbury dough biscuits but way cooler. They told them ingredients used to make dough, played with flour and made a cup of flour again as before, rolled out dough again, rolled into a small crossaint, buttered it and added spices to it. If there has been time to make it they would have done something for 8 mins I think. Idk what temperature tho. They tried yet another sample. Seriously I can't rave about this place enough. Staff was amazing. The bakers/employees hired are professional to be on TV, super helpful and FUN. They have cooking classes for like $30/kid or $99 for monthly classes I think she said. Not sure of exactly details but that's what I gathered. Take your kids there, you won't regret it and your kids will love it!!!!

This camp and its staff truly welcome and include EVERYONE who participates in their programs and use their facilities. The motto "Things are different here" pervades the camp, because EVERYONE is respected, encouraged and treated with dignity, quite a contrast from what some call "the real world." How much better our world would be if everyone treated others with dignity and respect. I am so thankful that my children have Camp Hanover memories, and that I have been privileged to serve as a volunteer. The camp is also a great place to hold a retreat. There are a variety of accommodations and meeting spaces, food service and activities, including a lake, ropes course, zip line, climbing wall and many trails.

This was focused on water sports, so she spent a lot of time on the James River stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming (in the pool). They even did archery, campfires, sang songs, learned to make bracelets, play games and much more! My daughter even loved the food. It was great that they even allowed her to bring green juices + probiotics (that needed refrigeration), so she could consume daily! This is part of her daily healthy regimen and I am so glad they were thoughtful enough to allow this. She came home with a lot of stories + journal entries! I was excited to read and listen to all of the camp experiences! Of course she's already excited for the opportunity to attend next year!
