Camp Arrowhead is a summer camp for kids entering 2nd through 11th grades. Nestled off Route 24,…read moreCamp Arrowhead is on a beautiful piece of pine tree filled land on Rehoboth Bay. Campers are kept busy at Arrowhead... kayaking, sailing, roasting marshmallows, swimming, tie dye, archery, climbing wall, zip line, high ropes course, canoeing, cooking over a fire, banana boating, disk golf, hay rides, arts & crafts, marsh walks... What sets Arrowhead apart from other camps is that it is a Christian Community. In terms of the day to day life of camp, this means that campers stay with their unit for all of their activities. This provides campers with a group of people who they really get to know and feel comfortable around, which allows campers to push themselves. Staff members are committed to helping every camper have a great time. As a camper myself for over 8 years and a staff member for 4, I can attest that Arrowhead is an amazing Summer Camp.

I've been going for 3 years now, and I can say that the staff is happy, the activities are great, and the accommodations are... good. Nobody is ever bored at Camp Arrowhead, with all the fun and games going on. Even the food is delicious, especially for a summer camp. Bathrooms are clean, and the accommodations are as clean as a cabin in the woods is going to get. Overall, CA deserves 5 stars any day!

The camp is a drive for us, but well worth it! Our daughter was so excited, but as a mom, I was…read moreworried she would get homesick... The camp counselors welcome them in like a cheering squad, and get them settled into their cabins first, so they can meet all their bunk mates. The itinerary for the week is very busy, they are up early, with a healthy breakfast to get them going, and they are out to the beach or the pool for their morning, then to lunch and some down time before they start the afternoon activities. Each meal they are allowed to sing and chant and stand on their seats just like in the movies, and they are allowed to BE KIDS... Then they are off to the afternoon activities which are land or dry stuff, archery, arts & crafts, skate boarding, hockey, and then off to dinner. Every night the counselors went through each cabin and got reports and sent us emails and pictures daily. We were able to email them daily and they would print the emails out and have them at their table daily for lunch. When we picked them up for the closing ceremonies, our little girl had made so many friends, and she didn't seem to miss us at all... she had a blast! Every kid gets an award at the end. It helps build friendships, fun, and lets them be kids. We will let our kids go back every chance they get!

We were given a rundown on the activities for her for the week and took a quick tour of the camp. All in all, very nice. When we picked her up she was so happy. She had the best time! She told us about swimming and boating and time at the beach. They have a skate park inside and they played basketball and just did a lot of outdoor activities. The one thing we were warned about when we picked her up was ticks. They said they have plenty of ticks since it is in the woods. After this experience I would not hesitate to send my daughter back to camp her and would love to send my son. I think he would have a blast! I wish I went to a camp like this when I was a kid... I didn't even get to go to camp.

Since it is only about 20 miles from the bridge tunnel up the shore (one of my favorite places on earth!), we decided to check it out. SO glad we did! And since admission is free, it made the bridge tunnel toll worth it! When you walk in you are greeted by the most friendly docent who gives you a brief background of the museum and what it's about. She told us they have several films and asked if we wanted to watch any of them. We did - "Our Island Home" gives you a terrific view of what life on Hog Island was like before it was abandoned from people who were actually born there. After whatever movie(s) you want to watch, you are "free range" to explore the museum. It is SO well done. I could have roamed around for longer than the 2 hours we were there (but I'm a museum reader - I have to check out everything!). Definitely allow yourself a couple of hours to explore. The exhibits are fantastic and laid out well. All artifacts were donated or on loan from actual island families - they don't purchase their artifacts. I like that. Shows the love for the community that these people have. Definitely check out the attic! There are hands on things for the kids - it's hot up there in the summer though! I was fascinated by the twisted chimney (not going to tell you why it was built that way - you'll have to go find out for yourself!). This is a GREAT little stop if you are looking for something cool to do on your way up or down Rt. 13 on your way to your vacation or a great day trip from the VA Beach area. With all their many activities and programs, we will definitely be back!

She loved the first year and has been excited to go back every year since. During the camp week, the children learn the plays and put on a performance at the end of the week. The younger children go for a half day and the older children go for a full day during the 5 day week. The older and younger kids work together and separately throughout the day. All of the older children have been great role models for the younger kids and have taught my daughter how to help provide motivation to the younger campers. Steve and Karen lead the children through drama exercises during the week, help them learn a play that they will perform on the final day and make props for the performance. All the staff are very patient and kind to the children. Also, during the week, the kids get to see a performance put on by the Rehoboth Summer Children's Theatre group. These are full performances acted out by two individuals. The plays change from year to year and are fun to watch. This year my daughter will try the Film and TV Camp for the first time. It will be an exciting challenge to try something new. I'm sure this camp will be organized and as rewarding as the drama camps. We will be returning for more camps this summer and hopefully for more summers to come!
