He He was helpful in answering questions as well. I will say that is way colder than you can imagine on the VERY windy water, and my 3 layers of clothing were not enough to keep me warm. No matter how tough you think you are, wear at minimum 2 *heavy* layers of clothing, and a thick windbreaker (my think raincoat did not hold up) and a hat to keep your head and ears warm. It's not just that it's 10 degrees colder on the water -- it's a constant cold wind blowing at you... and that's on a day when there wasn't a strong wind on the island itself. If you're not properly dressed, you won't find it relaxing. Although this tour company does warn you about the colder weather on the boat, it does not sufficiently warn you about the constant unrelenting wind.

Views are stunning, boat staff helpful too! The hosts on Loop C very friendly. Jane's Island seems to be known primarily for the camping possibilities. The camping sites, both for tents and cabins, are pretty full during the season. Has a loyal following. Reserve early. Also, fishing is all the rage here. I saw many people fishing from the banks of the water and from kayaks, etc. However, biking possibilities are only average. Hiking is about the same. Crisfield gets a fair number of storms, had a bunch during our visit, and it can affect the grounds, but the area dries out pretty quickly.

Yay for parking at the trail head! There is a dog park there too. There are two sections to this…read morenature trail: the unpaved section is across the street from the parking lot, and a paved loop. The natural, unpaved trail is about a .4 mile U-shaped trail around marshes through the woods. We saw peacocks both days we went! No dogs allowed in this section of the trail. The paved loop is .6 mins around with benches and trash cans but dogs are allowed. It was lightly raining when we went but we still enjoyed the loop around ponds and across a little bridge in the woods.

There are two facilities within the refuge that welcome visitors to learn more about the local area - the Herbert H Bateman Educational and Administrative Building and the Tom's Cove Visitors Center located a few miles down the road by the beach. Prior to my visit, I was a little confused about the two different sites so I just wanted to point that out. The Educational and Administrative Building is very nice. It contains exhibits, a theater, a bookstore and nice bathrooms. The exhibits were primarily about the wildlife that is protected within the refuge. My husband and I had fun with the interactive exhibits and I love the comparison of a Bald Eagle's nest to a king size bed. I also enjoyed learning about the original caretaker of the refuge. The theater is nice and it plays a few different films relevant to the area. I would have loved to sit there and watch all four in the lineup. But after a long day, sitting in a dark room would have put me to sleep. The bookstore had a nice variety of books including the Misty of Chincoteague series. This might me the only restroom within the refuge. Other structures I saw were more like out houses.

The big drop slides were closed but the main triple slide was open and that is all I personally needed, rotating between the lazy river and the kids playground to get water dumped on us. Kids old enough to have real tattoos playing in the kids area going down the slides, falling off the sides. These kids were probably 200 pounds each. I complained twice about it and nothing was done and I was worried about the younger children getting injured. 3. Lifeguard walking around with her bathing suit bottoms literally up the crack of her bottom, there is no way that she did not know that that was going on and should've been fixed. This is supposed to be a family park. 4. Two older women drunk as a skunk walking around the pool area with more to drink. 5. Food was ok, a bit pricy but understandable. 6. We will visit again and hopefully it's a better experience.
